Just finished running a homebrew campaign based in Thay. Could have used some of the info here but most of the info here I found. Still well-made video.
The big problem there is backing. Evil as Thay is, and sometimes because of it, they have some seriously potent supporters. Bane, Myrkul, and Velsharoon all probably draw some impressive strength from there, and the first two, being basically divine mortals, right now, need all the backing they can get, so any foresight thrse gods possess would likely be fed to Thay, perhaps for a price. Elementals and Fiends no doubt like it, too, but the worst bit...is Mystra. It's nice that Mystra often portrays as a nice, benevolent deity. She wants magic to flourish, and to make the world a better place, but the truth is She wants magic to advance, first and foremost, and evil Wizards intent on political power, even world domination, are some of the most motivated to push the bleeding edge of magic innovation onwards. She might find it distasteful, but Mystra will throw immense support behind them, simply because they'll invent more new magic, just like She protected Manshoon, when his soul went bonkers during the Manshoon Wars, or when Halaster Blackcloak harnessed insane magic to enchant Undermountain, and basically become immortal within it. Mystra won't let Thay go down, and certainly won't like the amount of damage that the Weave would receive bearing a dead magic zone that large. She'd likely send Paladins; perhaps even some of the Chosen, as they now stand, to destroy such an artifact, so dangerous would it be to magic across the continent, and just remain silent about the evil that can occur, obce out from under the shadow of this evil they destroyed.

I don't actually ever expect a true mage empire to hold out; it's hard to master, and and advance, the Art without coming to covet that power, and its perks, and people are ambitious, and selfish, already, but it's fun, if not sad, to see Thay mostly follow in the footsteps of Imaskar, Netheril, and other wizard kingdoms, and rise to greatness, just to ruin themselves, and their people, in pursuit of said greatness.
So Thay just needs to have a meteor the size of a large mountain slam into it's heart. Problem solved Thay is gone everyone else just needs to survive the nuclear winter.
It almost sounds like an AI voice read. It's a bit cold and mechanical. I honestly thought it was an AI. I really like Lutin09's Warhammer 40k lore videos. It has that rhythm and the slightest touch of feeling in it. Keep going and keep trying. You will find your voice. You and your audience will know it whenever you hear it. Good luck!

Thay needs to have an artifact that creates a massive dead magic zone to cripple the Red Wizards and the ruling magiocracy.

There might be an artifact of that magnitude in the ruins of the Imaskar Empire to the SouthEast.
