Is 10" good. Like not to expensive. not too wobbly like 12". Not too less aperture. Correct me if I am wrong How more better image I can see from comparing 8"
I couldnt decide between the two so I built a 14".... :) Also, my strut style scope easily breaks down in smaller pieces and takes up less room than a solid tube 8". Also if you get the right lens for visual coma corrector is not needed. I use Nagler lens.
Great info! I purchased a 10” Dob last month. It’s right in between. Easy and light enough to carry and set up fast. I use it on my upper rooftop patio in my condo. Only issue is the Bortle 8 here.
I have a 12" dob, and its light; and easy to carry. The bigger issue is: does it fit the space in the car/trailer (ie portability) to be used easily. In my case; the dob was maybe 1/2" longer than my carry space; so it needed a trailer, or other methods to transport to dark sites. What I saw with it was brilliant ... colour. At this level; more colour can been seen. And that is maybe the reason people select 12" over 8" -> a deeper appreciation of colour being shown on those faint objects (nebulae; planets etc).
I did considered 10 inch, instead of 8 or 12, collapsible for better storage and before strong wind the telescope can be surrounded by screen or be at windy less place.
Hello there Sir, learning new things on Dobsonian from your videos. I came across with collapsible Dobsonian telescope. What is the different with regular and collapsible telescope? It seems like easier to carry around and this come with Synscan Goto from local distributor, which you recommended. The empty space in the middle part of the telescope will not effect the performance? Thank you for your advice.
There is one thing you need to know. Dobsonians are heavy. I bought a 10" Dobsonian and was not able to carry it into the back yard to use. I had to gift it to a friend. A thousand dollars down the drain. If old and feeble, as am I, buy and 150mm Newtonian Reflector and a GT-4 mount. The 150mm tubes weigh about 12 pounds and breaking the GT-4 down into mount, tripod and counter weights, you won't have to carry more than 12 pounds each trip. If you want to make it into a Go-To mount, you can buy a kit for less than $300.

10" is great. Congrats!
@@DobsonianPowerI'm in bortle 9 and I have a budget for only 8" dob
I'm stuck
@@Jeeprepdiaries12 ufff. You need to use a camera if you want to watch way more objects. The eyepiece only for a few brighter ones.

Yes, and better details. Mine is too heavy to transport. It's possible but i chose not to do it.
@@DobsonianPower I am curious about your dob that makes it too heavy compared to mine. Is there something here in design I dont get?
@@Shagsteri it could not be the dob problem but me. It's not heavy to place outside but it's heavy to go around with it/travel.
Can 12" be transported by a Kombi car ? I'currently driving Opel Astra K Sports. Any thoughts?
which brand/model 12" dob did you use? and how heavy was it?

10" is also very nice
Those straps you use to carry the 12in...know where i can get some for a 10in
I bought them in an European store, leroy merlin. You should search in any local store, they are common
Yours is the best TH-cam channel related to Dobsonian telescopes!

How do you do tracking with the 12”? I’d like to know because I’d love to buy one! Is there a certain mount you need?

So how much do you use each one? 50/50 or does the 12" get more use?
60/40 the 12 has a bit more use.
Thanks for that important information's😄👍👁️🔭

When I make hollydays, I use a paralactic 8 inch dob 😁👍
Can't wait for your Nexus review :)
