Alex Moffat may not look much like JaBiden but he really perfected his mannerisms and speaking style. I almost thought it was JaBiden speaking.
I disagree. He spoke way too fast, clearly and coherently.
True, but a lot of people wanted Jim Carrey to continue playing him (and that includes the people who thought Carrey as Biden was a bad casting choice).
But now, it doesn't matter, because they got James Austin Johnson and he did his Joe Biden on his very first episode during the cold opening of season 47.
If anything he's actually the most accurate to Biden's appearance. Kevin Nealon, Woody Harrelson, and Jim Carrey all have head shapes different to Biden's. John Mulaney and Jason Sudeikis look pretty similar but Alex looks the most similar

I think they were trying it creepy there at the end. I keep looking at Maya's expressions starting at 7:13 to try to get a read on what they were trying to do. It's hard to end a ketch, and it's not unusual for a sketch to end on an awkward note that is not funny. I think what we are seeing here is not having a solid exit plan for the sketch.

@Dean F. You can talk about what you're boundaries are for a scene beforehand before ad-libbing so that no one crosses a line. AND YES, there ARE lines that can be crossed in comedy. Otherwise you can bet men would be taking advantage of actresses left and right in the name of "ad-libbing". Don't just be dismissive of everyone you claim to have a stick up their ass. If people are upset they're maybe a legitimate reason for it. Just like I can see you're upset that perhaps comedy has become too PC and safe, and sometimes that complaint is valid, while other times I think it's necessary to be a little more considerate and PC.

And they actually kept the actor set to play him (and they made Alex Moffat look more like Joe Biden. The first time they had Moffat as Biden looked like it was half-done, though, considering how the SNL crew creates this show in such little time, I can kinda forgive that they rushed making Alex look like Biden).

At 1:35 where Maya was being fondled by Martin, did anyone get a vibe of Maya being a little "uncomfortable" with Martin's moving hands? I don't know, but for a moment, I would have sworn I saw that in her facial expression....for a moment.

It was absolutely horrible.
I very much had the impression the sketch was inadequately rehearsed in the staging. Marty looks like he was playing the character as written, but it can be difficult to pull off a scene that is meant to be cloyingly, grossly intimate if it hasn’t been pretty thoroughly rehearsed. Maya expressed how much she loved Marty in the credits, so it seems unlikely there’s any bad blood between the two. Her laughter at the end of the sketch seemed surprised. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if they only had one dress rehearsal if that on this one.

Adopting a full-grown rescue and bringing him into a frantic situation like the White House...not a good idea. You often don't know the history of a rescue dog, sometimes they have issues and they need a quiet, calm intro into their new home.
@@AbsentWithoutLeaving they've had him for as while but shepherds are very protective and people constantly coming and going quickly...biting would be expected. That's not a rescue issue, that's a breed issue.
I agree! I'll bet Major was never trained or even presented with as much commotion and hustle as is found in the White House. Just because he's a GSD and a rescue doesn't mean he is going to bite - he just needed some desensitization training. Breed doesn't matter. Not every house dog is automatically going to be able to handle a situation like the White House.

Alex is honestly pretty good as Joe. He has the same issue I think many have and it's the voice.
Yeah. And it's good that SNL is looking inward and using a cast member to play a US President rather than a special guest star (though I will miss Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump and Jim Carrey's Joe Biden was fun while it lasted).
I’m so happy a regular cast member gets the role of President again. It’s a small small manifestation of Biden’s “back to normalcy”

@@agirlwholovesgod1645 yes I know they have to perform it exactly the way that they rehearse it. but accusing someone of assaulting someone is a BIG thing to say and it totally diminishes other peoples experiences. yes she does look uncomfortable so I'm really hoping that was what her character was supposed to look like. we cannot go around stating that this is assault without knowing whether it was intentional or not. I'm not saying it is or isn't assault, just that we shouldn't be accusing things.

Short is one of those actors that will throw in his own bits that he didn't do in rehearsal, hence why Maya looked so surprised and even broke character a little at the end. Theoretically they rehearse these bits, but you'll always have the actors that want to improv or add something in the end just because they can, even if it's not the best choice to go with.
But no, the surprise looked genuine, and the fact that she did break a bit in character after that last bit says that it wasn't her character...it was her specifically.
