The audience didn't even react to the fact that Tina Fey, and Rachel Dratch made guest appearances

Kristen Wiig was the two girls in the hall.
@@albicelestezzz
But they recognized Martin Short though which is surprising. Sure, he's the absolute BEST but reacting to him appearing (as INCREDIBLE as he is) but not Fey/Dratch who are more recent? What kind of twilight zone did I walk into?
they were probably quiet because they wanted to see what was going on
mesmerized
Awww. This was like a beautiful in memorium segment -- but in honor of someone still alive.
Gilda Radner begs to differ with you ...
This was removing one talented woman and adding a stupid liberal
@@QuizmasterLaw Why would she object? She’s in the front row of the picture. And, also no longer alive.
@@Blessedone333AZ Nobody was removed. They just moved Dan over.
@@bittersweetlily if you're too dense or unaware to notice this video was a tribute to Gilda Radner I don't know what to do with you. THE CANCER JOKE WENT RIGHT OVER YOUR HEAD get it over your fucking head
Is it possible for something to be both wholesome AND creepy at the same time?
I think we just got a definitive yes...
Kyle Mooney?
Clearly.

Take a bath in chicken soup?
Lost it when they threw shade at Kevin Spacey.
was that 0:46 ? also, what did Kevin Spacey do?
@@gem4036 sexually harassed and assaulted a bunch of guys over the years- and when one of his victims spoke out and told their story, Spacey tried to spin it as a time for him to come out as gay. Yeah, no. Still a predator Spacey
@@clementine793 Well, damn. Didn't know that. When was this? Is he legitimately gay? Why don't I KNOW this?! 🤔
@@louissallie225 This all came out a couple of years ago.
@@louissallie225 Tis why Kevin Spacey was also ousted from House of Cards.
For a horror parody this feels so warm and fuzzy and I love it
From The Shining
"I'm the cook. I take the baked Lays out of the bag and put them in a bowl."
That's a cry for help if ever there was one.
Kenan is basically the whole show now; I'm excited to see what his actual show is now. He holds even the bad sketches together and makes them bearable, otherwise it'd just b wknd update and I'm not sure ppl would tune in just for that(when they can watch it here without sitting thru the rest of the junk).
@@dorlis1 to be honest: I am also disappointed how well that works too. But people watch the video, then they see the line and are like: "oh yeah, I liked that line" and then they like the comment.
@@dorlis1 Nah, but if I get to 2k I will ask "really?"
Just glad my 65K comment was original.
At last! I can honestly say, I too, am a cook. Placing Lays chips from bag to bowl to help others enjoy what's on TV, makes me not only the house cook, but so happy to be the one they call Cookie when they forget my name every day.
"It was my idea that the women could talk."
I need a hactker for hack my friend fb
*"maybe"
And that's when the downfall of SNL began
@@durrclips746 Remember, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay. Come out of your closet
@@durrclips746 and thats not true. why do you need attention.
I'm glad she's still around cause she's so funny.
she's always been around, tho, and always will be... (cue spooky music here)
I love her. She's so underrated. And she's beautiful.
Anyone else actually find this extremely touching?
Absolutely.💗
Yes!
Yes... like I felt a pang about the size of a country when I saw the b&w of the first cast
I got goosebumps at the end. Course, the Shining is one of my faves, too
Super bittersweet
The cinematography here is just perfect.
Tina Fey is almost unrecognizable. Love her.
I picked up on it.
she is a godess.
I miss Tina Fey ❤️❤️❤️
She makes Tina look like an understudy!
She was talking like her Sarah Palin character
I laughed SO hard at Rachel’s “What the hell?” Then she pokes Maya in the face!
A stroll down "Memory Lane" one of her mother's Minnie Ripperton best songs!
Yaaaaaas I was kinda hoping it would've been played
Midnight, The Stars and You · Al Bowlly · Ray Noble & His Orchestra
And Minnie singing "Maya Maya" at the end of "Loving You" forever in memoriam! 🥰💜💜
"That was....just Dratch."
Snl casts usually leave the show when they are still shining, so we only have good memory of their talents.
I think she's definitely still Shining .
@@canaisyoung3601 Hey now... Chris Farley was a cast member from 1990 - 1995. He's iconic

Oh wow. Who was the genius for this tribute idea??? Brilliant. Just brilliant.
Colin Jost wrote it with Maya
@@fernandacuminesi5531 Oh, really? How do you know that??

This is a great parody of The shining, while also being a good tribute to good memories, and a good comedic actress.
Awesome vid!
😭
"Sum 41. That's when music was music." Well I laughed.
Maya truly has the shine 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
They've got to be nice to her. If something happens to Biden, she'll have to play President Harris because nobody else can.
🤣I had to stop and compose myself. The subtle disappointed look only Maya can give on Kevin Spacey was Gold😂😂😂😂
Dat Kevin Spacey diss 😬
I was hoping someone would say something. I thought it was Tom hanks.
Well these days she won’t do that diss if he was not so hated for those allegations, as she might get cancelled cause he’s gay
@@424dsfdsfdsfs uhhhh no thats literally not true, everyone hates kevin spacey??
@@424dsfdsfdsfs sexuality has NOTHING to do with someone being a sexual predator ...
@@m.m.5286 if he was just gay, she won't ever do this diss (otherwise would be called homophobic for refusing him). The fact he's an alleged predator somehow offsets his gayness for the snl writers and base.
Fey, Dratch, Wig, Rudolph; the gang's all HERE!!! I don't care what anyone else thinks about the skits "falling flat" this episode. People been saying Mya can't carry as a host, but the nostalgia was worth it. PERIODT!!! 😭💙🧜🏾♂️
Here's Maya!
All work and no play makes Maya a dull girl.
🤣🤣Yesss!!👏🏼👏🏼💓✌🏼
Good one
This is one of the most brilliant sketches in a while and the audience didn’t get it.
Too young I guess
Brilliant perhaps but..not all that funny..and this is.. let's not forget..a COMEDY SHOW! SNL has done this a few times in it's history though..the weird schmaltzy/obscure/artsy sketches..and those generally never play with audible audience reactions.
Was it SUPPOSED to be unfunny?
@@ronstar7027 I believe so..or only very lightly funny
Some audience
I fell out when she looked at Kevin Spacey's photo and didn't utter a word!
“I just wanna take a stroll down memory lane” - Maya Rudolph
That reference alone 🖤
I was praying I wasn’t the only one who caught that!
Tiny Fey is a god. She has given me years of giggles and chuckles and I miss seeing her act so much.
I love her so much! She's incredible
Love all of the random cameos!
To everyone who thinks SNL has lost it : it's still better than 99 percent of the stuff out there. Thank you
And of course, this skit proves it. That it's not funny, that is.
Plus, the show has always had shaky quality and stuff that doesn't hold up, even in its good years. I learned that from binge watching the entire series when it was on Netflix.
Speaking as a middle aged person, SNL lost it for a couple of decades but it's back.
Of course they never really had it to begin with but that is another story altogether.
I will say it's hair better than the year Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Downey Jr. were cast members. That year was a total bust.
I love this so much. At the same time, I need to see this sketch revisited with a couple other worthy cast members.
Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph are comedy gold! Love it when SNL does intelligent sketches like this with silly moments! Theme music was spot on!
Excellent nod to the genius of Kubrick and King!
Honestly I love the way old cast members and different celebs will just pop in for a skit sometimes. It's nice to believe that they all still have such an abiding affection for the show that they enjoy visiting and playing again, like getting invited to participate in a pick up game with your old team.
Why did this make me emotional
Because it’s warm and fuzzy in an unexpected way and we’ve all been through hell. Together.
Can someone tell me why Keenan doesn't have an Emmy. He is versatile and nails every character
He is the ONLY cast member that is actually funny.
@@ronstar7027 Is Pete Davidson still on? He is frequently funny, as well.
Actually, he earned an Emmy for one of the greatest songs, "Come Back, Barack."
Maybe because he’s not funny.
@@weinerblut6869 IKR they just keep him there and pay him and he is a fan fav...
Almost cried watching the old footage 🥺
The Shining is my favorite film, and I think this is freaking perfect.
that rip on kevin spacey
My favorite rip on Spacey will always be the monologue from when he hosted in 1997 that essentially warned viewers that Kevin Spacey plays psychos in the movies because he is one IRL (you read that right: that came about 20 years before it actually made headline news).
Welcome to the Hotel California!
NOOOOOOO this is from THE SHINING
Overlook, you mean
We also would have accepted the answer, "The Stanley Hotel."
It’s a lovely place, such a lovely place.

BEST SKETCH OF THE NIGHT‼️‼️‼️
If that's true, then I am missing nothing since I haven't watched the show in about 20 years.
Thank you Maya for making us laugh over the years. You're a legend and you have a special place in our heart always ♥
She is literally the best.
"The Maya-ing"🤯🔥🔥👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼-BEST SNL sketch in a loooong time!! 💓💓✌🏼
By far the best bit on this ep.
There were so many inside jokes in this. I wish I was in ‘the inside’ 🥺
Really? Have you seen The Shining?
That SUM 41 shoutout tho. Made me excited (and jumping into pop punk again)
"The Shining" one of my favorite movies that they parodied!😊 This was spooky and funny at the same time.
I can only imagine how well Maya would've played off of people like Gilda and Belushi. Hopefully we'll get a big shebang that mixes the greats from all the years when SNL hits their 50th anniversary in just a few years!
True. Very well said.
Maya is a gift! Thank you SNL.
This is brilliant
For some reason, her picture at the end brought tears to my eyes.
That was actually a really creative SNL skit. That John Belushi photo at the end really sold it.
_I never start reading “The Shining” without making sure we've got plenty of room in the freezer._ -Joey Tribbiani

That episode always drives me nuts because some of the references are unique to the book, but most are are unique to the movie!

Loved it...since the very first night all those years ago. RIP to those we have lost.

I don't think SNL has ever made me cry like this. I can't imagine what it's like to become apart of the SNL cast.
Maya is hands down one of the best members to ever have been on SNL
OMG Dratch out here crackin me up still! Also this was sweet and yet creepy AF. Also, who else forgets that Lorraine Newman was in the orignal cast?
Never.
And btw it's Laraine.
I would love a full reunion of all the biggest female cast members of SNL from any and all seasons. That would be so iconic!
I absolutely LOVE it when SNL goes meta. And oh, Maya, what a living legend you are.
I havent cried this much over an SNL sketch since Phil Hartman and Jan Hooks did the tiara in t safety deposit box memory sequence. Bravo!!!
Always a treat to see Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph and Rachel Dratch together. I hope they always keep showing up. They are my peers and shared a certain magic in the 2000s that is all thier own. What a cool and unique sketch.
Famous people you've never met are your peers...?
What a Shining segment!
That 3 stooges action tho....unexpected and appreciated lol
Glad she’s still around, amazing humor
Great sketch. Loved the end, with Maya next to the Season 1 cast, especially as a fan of the show's history. The end of The Shining, (and other films like "Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood,") transports the viewer back to a time that is gone, but one wishes they were able to see. Thanks SNL for the glimpse.
Well put
Sum 41 was the shit! Y’all need to put some respect on that name
Canadian punk is legit now!!!!!😂😂😂
Just glad my North Star headed South & found me !!! 🌟💁🏽♀️♥️🔥🔥💯💯😍💯🔥🔥🔥🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘
I agree :)
Band sucks
I think you accidentally added "the" to that statement.
We didn't like Sum 41 back in the day, but Jack Harlow's mumbling makes them look like musical greats.
That last shot with the OG cast, and Maya, shook my soul! Brilliant! I've been watching SNL, since day one! So glad you're still here (and me too 🤭)

The music makes it, bravo mr.kubrick
Did her husband direct it? The man’s a massive Kubrick fan.
LOL. nah.
I think the sketch would have been two hours long and shot in 65mm.

Amazing work by a LEGEND
Great segment. Great memories...
she's one of the greatest!
Loved the pic at the end. Almost right there with John Belushi dancing on everyone's grave....
I loved the homage paid to the original snl . Righteous. I think the original writers and not ready for prime time players would approve this skit.
Same here, because the show still cares about its roots, even if times have changed.
