The little radio cabinet is so sweet you could use the metal piece for the back if you didn't want it open. Put in on with the writing on the outside so you can read the information. Love it.
The spice cabinet radio just knocked my socks off! I love what you did with it, a terrific find!

That’s right! My mom brought us up garage sale and thrifting . I love it 😊
Yay! I KNOW what that "blue game board" is! I have one. It's not actually a game. It is supposed to have tall PEGS (approximately 4"), that fit in those holes. It's a portable carrier tray (notice the handles on the top side?), for POTS or casserole dishes. You place your casserole dish in the center then place the pegs snugly around your dish. The tall pegs hold your dish in place while you are transporting it. 😁😍

LOL I know, right? 😂 They actually work really well and are pretty cool. You can go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a long dowel rod and have it cut into 4"-5" pieces. You will need 8-10 pegs same diameter as the "marble holes" 🤣 Give it a try and you will ALSO have a nice conversation piece. Please let me know if you try it. LOVE your ideas and inspiring videos.

That radio cabinet was the best!! It does look like a miniature hutch,I would have grabbed it to.Thrifting is great when you're on a tight budget,I always told my kids,buy from a thrift store first,when you start earning more,you can always upgrade and re-donate back to the thrift stores.Great finds and enjoy the beach!😀
The wooden board is a casserole dish carrier. It should have wooden pegs that you can adjust to fit different size dishes. I have one like it. Enjoy your videos!

If you put a wood cover over the back opening you could use the metal piece as the cover over the new wood to hide it even with the opening. Great find
Oh what fun. I loved everything, especially the radio carcass. Though my man of the house would have claimed it for himself to restore. He cannot wait to retire and actively pursue this passion. The radio was cool, but when you said turned it around, it reminded me of my father shop in our basement. He worked on radios and TV's. I kept some of his equipment because it was such beautiful wood. I use them for risers.

I love when I say "take that" and you do get it. I feel like we are sisters sometimes. I'm like you I am proud to say I thrifted something.
So many comments already! Someone else may have already said it, but the blue board with the peg holes is Not a game! It is a casserole dish carrier. It would originally have had a set of peg/short sticks with it. You put the dish on the board, then put the pegs around it to hold it in place. I have a handmade one from the 90’s. This is the second one I have seen recently. I saw one at a thrift store here, with the pegs. And…just like you, they thought it was some sort of game board. It was in the toy section. I love the painted one you found! Mine is just shellacked wood finish.

When you showed the radio, I thought ohhh no, please dont buy that. But when you styled it, I said, wow that looks really good! I underestimated you. No rules!!! 🤗🤗🤗

My kids were always dressed nice when they were little and most of their clothes came from garage sales, thrift stores, etc. I still LOVE thrifting and I proudly tell all my friends about my bargains 😂
Some lights and a speaker would fit perfect in that radio towards the back to give the illusion of a working radio. I did that with a antique radio I found for $35.

Love, love what you did with the radio! You could frame the metal piece and use it as a shelf sitter. Maybe put a piece of lace or cloth behind it. I think that would look great in your home.

I work in a thrift store, although we try to be consistent with pricing, it will vary a little among pricers. If I like it, I notice I price it a little more. If I am not crazy about it, cheaper. If a customer asks me about exact items being priced differently, I will match the price of the lowest priced items 💙
I am very thankful my mom showed me thrifting growing up. I'm also very thankful for you and your channel. I love how you think outside the box. I get compliments for my thrifted decor because you showed me how to take what I like and make it beautiful.
Had me laughing at the way you said that some people would say the radio cabinet was a piece of junk. Chef Emeril must have been in the room because when you cut scenes I heard a "BAM." Seeing the decorated radio cabinet was -- wow! It was so cute, too cute. I loved it.

I'm like you,I never had a ton of money. So I learned to be frugal and shop at thrift stores and for bargains. My daughter is getting married, I need a dress. I looked at the bridal shop,looked on David's bridal site. Found a dress I love for 40 dollars!! I refused to pay over a hundred dollars for a dress I will wear once. I was quite proud of how much I saved. My daughter reacted like I got a flour sack.
I’m so glad you grabbed that radio cabinet, it’s awesome! If you use it in a way that the back can be covered turn that piece so the writing faces the and fill the hole with a picture of an old radio. I also love the three white platters; that pattern was my first dishes in 1978. ♥️ Hope you enjoyed the beach! I live less than an hour from Lake Michigan and enjoy it as often as possible

Hey, I grew up with garage sales, thrift stores, and goodwill. I will happily let people spend $$$ on an item, three months from now, I will find it for $3.00 lol...I do not shop in big retail stores. I have learned to wait and be patient.
Julie, Thank you for appreciating the old radio and wanting to keep some of its parts. Like you said you hate to get rid of the metal plate and what not because it shows so much history. But you can always keep it and maybe use it later on for something. In my honest opinion you're somewhat of a purist when it comes to real farmhouse décor, Appreciating all the cracks and dings and wear where most people do not! Love from Minneapolis

I believe that painted game board was a Parchesse board. Don't know if I spelled that right. That old radio cabinet was a great find! You styled it perfectly! I too have been thrifting since I was first married in "73". Still do & always will! Have a safe holiday weekend!
I looked up the radio... it was made in the 1950's .... what a fantastic find!
When you style your thrifted items, you make everything look so lovely, cohesive, and streamlined! My stuff always looks crowded and messy!😣
Love your finds and how you styled them. I especially like the vintage radio. I also dressed my children and myself from garage dales finds. People would compliment them and myself. I couldn't wait to tell them that I thrifted them. It's just so much fun to thrift.
Julie, you.are just the best. Kind and encouraging, and so very good at decorating with your finds. I've been a thrifter for a long time, too. Besides the money aspect, I really like the Idea of what reusing does for the environment. Anyway, love the old radio and what you did with it. And that crochet pillow sham is beautiful!!! I was screaming at you to get that Ralph Lauren bedspread 😂 I’ve been looking for that same one for my bedroom, and all the ones online go for over $100 on eBay. I go to Galveston all the time but have never went to their Goodwill. I need to go next time I’m in town.
And the Salsa’s Mexican restaurant next to it is delicious 😉 my sister lives on the island so I pop in to that GW every time I go down there.
The thin wooden piece of cutting board was perfect for back of little cupboard.
I have to say I love that old radio you found. I love what you did with it. I am also happy you saved the radio face just in case. The crochet pillow cover is so beautiful. Hoping you saved to metal piece to the radio. Pretty sure could be old copper or brass. Think that piece could make an interesting mat for the right photo. Good finds!
I would be doing my happy dance for the pitcher too. My collection of Marshall pottery started with a pitcher like that.

So many goodies!!! I CANNOT believe you found another one of those pitchers. That's crazy! It looks terrific where you put it. The platters are lovely and I love the pillow sham. I appreciate it every time you comment about thinking outside the box and reminding us that there are no rules. Love that SO MUCH. I have two bed pillows with shams on my couch, too. Great minds think alike! LOL. :-) I recently went to one of my favorite thrift shops in PA and the car in the space next to me had Texas license plates on it. I scored an old coffe grainder, 2 big old black n white Babypictures an old little scoop and a floral artwork
Saved a little dolly and found some nice clothing. Found tiny metal candlesticks. (displayed them under a globe)
Bought an old gold rimmed gravyboat to display my scentcoans.

Julie, I love your thrifting videos...and you have given me so many ideas on using items in ways i never thought of doing....Our home is totally decorated with thrifted or the curb finds that were free..lol...my husband and I, love to thrift and find things to revamp n make it fit with our home....we have not lost that desire, now that money is a bit easier, than when we were married 37 years ago..we proudly tell our friends that visits with us, that we thrifted it all...lol..tfs, hope yall have a blessed holiday weekend...

I agree I prefer to thrift shop more now than the big box stores and so do my girls. I have found them many items of clothes that had we bought them in the mall they would have been a fortune! I always say if you are patient and wait long enough you can find just about everything you are looking for at Goodwill and such.

I used to go to that GW in Galveston. I went to the big GW in our neighboring town yesterday after a drs appt. It's a huge store that I havent been to in over 5 yrs. They used to have tons of decor. Now its 80% clothing, very little decor...so disappointed. I would have put a picture behind the metal part of the radio. Now I'll have to find a new GW. Loved the crocheted pillow sham...I've been looking for yrs for one.

Hi Julie. Love the old radio cabinet. Glad you didn’t paint it. When you picked up the pottery pitcher with the blue stripe, I thought I’m thinking that looks like the one she thrifted the other day. Glad you found another one. It’s beautiful. Loved the crocheted pillow sham. I’m all about elegant things. What a buy at 99 cents! And yes, I am an ace with a can of spray paint too. That marble gameboard is called AGGRAVATION. Take turns, roll the dice and move the marbles around the board until you get home.

Wow what good prices, what you found is right down my decor alley. I love to take old things and repurpose them. I am looking for new bar stools but I can’t fine what would match my house. My brother that has gone on to be with the Lord gave me the ones I have so I told my husband I will just paint the ones we have now and make new pad covers again because they do match my decor. Problem solved. 😂 and they were my precious brothers. Love you girl although we will never meet here but I will meet you in heaven. God bless. 🙌🏻🙏🏻❤️

I think you should keep the metal and the wooden slatted piece, but move them to the back, so they can be seen, but you still have storage space.

I went to to goodwill and got only two thing, a coffee press, I've been looking for one for a year. And a snack bowl or chip and dip I've been wanting one for years. That's Chinese checkers as a kid a few hundred years ago I played it with my brothers. I miss the good old days when talking to one another meant something.have a wonderful 4th of July.
