Lol, Brother that was so funny! Those little ones get to ya with those looks and Daddy can I have... Thanks for sharing you life and knowledge with all of us wanna be homesteaders.
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I went to pick up 100 chicks yesterday, which I was prepared for, and when I got there the hatchery guy shoved my box to me and then plopped another box on top of it and told me there were a few chicks in it and I could have them. When I got home and opened it up there were 120 in it and I wasn't ready for that. Altogether I ended up with 140 chicks and need a brooder fast! This will work.
Jason, You have the best videos!! We love the candidness and your subtle inserted cutaways, so very funny!! Keep it going, we're new to this home farming and appreciate you.
We love your channel, you are truly genuine, that's unfortunately not easy to find! I loved your video on your first year, i can...very inspirational. Anyway, you deserve more than 4k subscribers!
You solved my problem! lol Don't know why I didn't think of it. I though a pool was perfect but not deep enough. Two minds are better than one sometimes. Thanks!
Don't give up on the tractor Robert Farrell !!! Hopefully and am finally getting caught up! Don't float away either!!! Y'all be good....tractor coming real soon!! Thanks buddy
You literally sound just like my dad! "They're stinking..they cant stay in the house anymore" I'm always trying to come up with water ideas (that are too much work lol) and dad says a milk jug will do fine!😂 Great idea! 👍👍
Same here, but it's my wife that is the duck lover... she still can't answer me when i ask, "How can something that small and cute poop so much"? and the smell... aarrrf! They are some bug killin machines when they get bigger though. Nice job!
Have you checked out Jack Spirko's duck chronicles? Check out how he positions his waterer over hardware cloth with a pan below to catch the spills, he says it keeps the ducks dry and stops the stink!
Awesome video. I originally found the idea on Pinterest but wanted to see someone actually build one. I think I should be capable of doing this lol. I'm trying to get chickens but no plastic tote seems big enough...
That's tame compared to a spell check catastrophe that occurred between me and a lady preacher friend of mine last year. me: You need any ducks. her: No. I hate "them." "They're" gross and nasty. "They" stink and leave a mess everywhere. (use your imagination) I had to question her why her autocorrect was so accustomed to using "that" word. She said she has a brother in law named Richard. I'll quit rambling now. sorry about that
Nice looks like your daughter won lol, as they always do, which I can't blame you mine does too. Thanks for sharing your daughters victory duck brooder. Haha take care brother..
Ducklings just hatched 2 days early and what do you know! I have two kiddy pools retired from my senior sucks because they got a pond now lol guess those will be recycled now I’m so glad they’re clean still! Thank you 🙏
This is completely biased but: I need more duck videos! Like housing, predators, what they forage/eat/treats... We're expecting our ducklings in a week and I'm hungry for more info! I know ducks aren't your fav but MORE!
Thank you TideNdixie ....they will get in there but the trick is to try and make the hole smaller so they can't, but they do get in it. One of my videos shows one in it but I cannot remember which one it was.
I'm not guna lie... I'm a sucker for pretty much any animal. Even when I say "not this year," I still find a way to convince myself otherwise!! Haha! ;)
Lol I raised 3 chicks and 3 ducklings together and yeahhh... As babies, i prefered the ducks. Theyre cute in such a teddy bear cartoon way, you can always tell when theyre happy, they're cuddly, they sound as cute as they look, and they never pick on each other. But. As adults, I enjoy my chickens the best lol. They poop 400% less, are much cleaner in their coop, and actually clean up after the ducks with shocking efficiency. I love all my tiny dirt dinosaurs, but Im most glad I have the chickens ALONG WITH the ducks!
I love this. I have 5 chicks right now and I hate the brooder set-up. I also have two ducklings. I have a set-up right now that has a "pond" for them to swim in. Do you do that for your ducklings, or do you give them water time some other way? Just curious because I'm tired of cleaning out the brooder every couple of days.
😊 i just replied to your question....you're going to be searching for a mask soon 😉 LOL, I'm just kidding....good luck and if you have anymore question, ask away!! Thank y'all!
Where are you from! Love the accent. Southern gal myself but you got me clueless. Love this idea! Getting chicks and wanted something easy to clean and easy to put together and cheap! Perfect! Could put the whole thing on a card table to raise it!
Great idea, you go wife! Question: What do I do for a light to keep newborns warm? Mine just hatched last night, can't keep them in the incubator long. HELP!
I would love to be able to use a pool for our duck brooder. Would have probably worked for my pekins but the blue sweeds i just got.... Not likely... They're like littke kangaroos! They can really jump! And on a dime! The only way it might work is with a screen on the top maybe lol. I noticed they're more high strung than the pekins also.
We don't have any ducks, but I fixed one and we use it as a guest bedroom when my Mother-in-law comes to see us,,,,lol. She is one messy cuss, so it is working out well. We had to add extra bolts around the edge because the old bat kept trying to crawl out of it.
Uh-huh, sweet lil ole voice can tug at heart strings. Nice build on pool brooder. Add shallow foil/plastic tray under jug to save shavings, ducks drink they poop. Agree, stinky! Poop water = compost tea for plants. Duck fat = tasty veggies! tfs
Instead of one big hole. I'd put four smaller holes to keep the integrity of the pool intact. This is a great idea. These pools are what a couple bucks a piece.
Thinking about this for chicks..maybe vent screens in side instead of top so it can be outside in light rain? Not sure..seems it would still get water in there... Maybe on covered deck..few more bolts to protect from dogs..
Hmmm, I missed this one ? No longer now. I'd like a duck to eat the garden bugs..... Nice project, I bet one can find plenty of these kiddie pools out for the trash the end of summer 😊
I still don't understand what the checkered hole pool is for. I didn't see it being used in the end. Also what is your name I've watched about five videos of yours and still don't know your name =[
My goodness man! At first I was gonna mail you a whiny 😫 towel...but I kept watching...new subscriber now...just don’t be dising them ducks 🦆!! Great eggs and TAAAASTY meat birds too! Embrace the duck!!
Awesome idea. When the time comes, I am using this idea for my brooders. THANKS! So elevated I found your site before I actually start with my animal collections of chickens, pigs, goats, and yes, maybe ducks. I'm learning and collecting lots of ideas. 🐔🐷🐐
Ducks are nasty. I keep them in a pen with a water bucket with nipples. The only way to keep their drinking water clean. Then I give them a nasty water area they can be pigs in. The Cat Litter box has worked great as a nesting box and they are laying in it. I was told they will not lay in a nest box. Well a couple will lay out in the mud and nasty, but most have fiqured it out.
im laughing so hard cuz i put my dad and husband through the same thing when it comes to baby ducks (im trying to sell them but gotta make a big enough flock) but how many can you fit in there im trying to breed at least 840 a month for 3 months (mating season last 3 months right)
I LOVE ducks - HOWEVER. They are poop-squirting machines that go off every 5 minutes. I would raise them off quite a-ways from the house. Nasty, but also awesome-cute, great eggs and roast duck... YUM.
Milk jug idea is so great. Thank you for that!!
Great idea. Fantastic intro for how cute and messy ducklings are
went the store and found the pools on clearance. so I guess I am making a brooder. thanks for the video.
Awesome!!!! Thanks Rocky Brook Farmstead
Love the brooder. Look how small MaryCarl was. How adorable her little giggle. What awesome parents you guys are! 💕💕🐐🦆
Lol, Brother that was so funny! Those little ones get to ya with those looks and Daddy can I have...

thank you!!! Those looks always win ;)
Oh my gosh I just love all of your videos! And a new goat!
Thank you Ashley!!!
THANK YOU FOR THIS! Clever idea.
Necessity is the mother of invention and you got that one down. 👍🌻🌻
Great idea, I might just try this out this year.
Awesome idea! thumbs up to the wife! So far we have stayed strong on the duck front...its soooo hard though when they ask! Take care.
Very Hard!! LOL! Thank you!
I'm trying to learn to take care of ducks so I can get some
Same here :)
That was helpful Jason! Great ideas rolling off the "Hill!"

Great video! Thank you
And yes, they dooo stink! 🤣🤣
You literally sound just like my dad! "They're stinking..they cant stay in the house anymore" I'm always trying to come up with water ideas (that are too much work lol) and dad says a milk jug will do fine!😂 Great idea! 👍👍
😂 Thanks!!
Luv this idea! Thank you 😊
Thanks!!!
Same here, but it's my wife that is the duck lover... she still can't answer me when i ask, "How can something that small and cute poop so much"? and the smell... aarrrf! They are some bug killin machines when they get bigger though. Nice job!
YES!!!! They are horrible, especially when your daughter wants them in her room!!!
Chick-a-Woof Ranch I find if you soak their feed (ferment )for three days it helps solidify their poop.
Terrie Friday great tip! Now if I can keep them off the patio and patio furniture
Boom! Thanks Terrie Friday
I use it for baby chicks and it works great
Awesome!!!
Have you checked out Jack Spirko's duck chronicles? Check out how he positions his waterer over hardware cloth with a pan below to catch the spills, he says it keeps the ducks dry and stops the stink!
thanks Joan! Going to go check that out!
Can anyone tell me how long 4 ducklings would be able to stay in a brooder this size until they are too big for it?
Awesome video. I originally found the idea on Pinterest but wanted to see someone actually build one. I think I should be capable of doing this lol. I'm trying to get chickens but no plastic tote seems big enough...
Great idea, I might just try this on out sucks this year.
Thanks Terrie Friday !!! Works for sucks and Ducks too 😊😊
lol not sucks, ducks got to love spell check
Always love spell check!! :)
That's tame compared to a spell check catastrophe that occurred between me and a lady preacher friend of mine last year.
me: You need any ducks.
her: No. I hate "them." "They're" gross and nasty. "They" stink and leave a mess everywhere.

Oh god what I got my self in to 🙈
I'm a sucker too...when it comes to stuff my baby girl wants!!
Lol, All that cuteness is like kryptonite!!
Great job and idea, , any ducks get stuck inside the milk jug?
Thank you TideNdixie ....they will get in there but the trick is to try and make the hole smaller so they can't, but they do get in it. One of my videos shows one in it but I cannot remember which one it was.
Oh how great of a daddy are u! I also see what looks like a Nigerian Dwarf kid. Subscribes.
I'm not guna lie... I'm a sucker for pretty much any animal. Even when I say "not this year," I still find a way to convince myself otherwise!! Haha! ;)
LOL!! We know that feeling oh too well!!! Thanks Parsley Farm !
Lol I raised 3 chicks and 3 ducklings together and yeahhh... As babies, i prefered the ducks. Theyre cute in such a teddy bear cartoon way, you can always tell when theyre happy, they're cuddly, they sound as cute as they look, and they never pick on each other.

Lol! They are so stinkin cute, yea pun intended. :) Thank you!
lol you're very welcome!!
Where are you from! Love the accent. Southern gal myself but you got me clueless. Love this idea! Getting chicks and wanted something easy to clean and easy to put together and cheap! Perfect! Could put the whole thing on a card table to raise it!
what a clever idea !! 👨🌾👍🎥✝
😊
Was the cross nessesary?
Hi....... 🎥👍👍👍
Did you get a new baby goat? Love the duck brooder. tyfs Pat
We did get a new baby goat!!!! New video coming soon about her & thanks Pat Champion !!!
How did you clean it ? Did you take all ducks out then dump and clean or whatever
do the same but also put it on a paint pan with a mesh cover..water just falls under and you just toss the dirty away..keeps ground dry! :)
good idea; but I would use those black large office clips to hold them together so I can wash the tub
Now that's an excellent idea!!!
this is great!!! thanks for the idea! I might do this for chicks!
Thanks Rose!!! And it would work great for chicks!
Mahalo will do this 🤙😎
Great idea, you go wife! Question: What do I do for a light to keep newborns warm? Mine just hatched last night, can't keep them in the incubator long. HELP!
We just use your typical heat lights 👍
I would love to be able to use a pool for our duck brooder. Would have probably worked for my pekins but the blue sweeds i just got.... Not likely... They're like littke kangaroos! Instead of one big hole. I'd put four smaller holes to keep the integrity of the pool intact.
This is a great idea. These pools are what a couple bucks a piece.
Now that's a Great idea! Thanks!!
After the third piece of hardware was grabbed o decided that my husband will do this project
I can't believe he didn't know "atrocious" was a word 😂
Thinking about this for chicks..maybe vent screens in side instead of top so it can be outside in light rain? Not sure..seems it would still get water in there... Maybe on covered deck..few more bolts to protect from dogs..
hmmmm I have 50 chicks coming this week; think I will make a trip to walmart
Would be perfect for 50 chicks! Thanks for watching!
Hmmm, I missed this one ? No longer now. I'd like a duck to eat the garden bugs.....
Nice project, I bet one can find plenty of these kiddie pools out for the trash the end of summer 😊
How many chicks are ducks can you get in that without overcrowding it
homesteady's brooder set up might cost more, but they might be able to help you make the ducks less messy over on their youtube channel
I still don't understand what the checkered hole pool is for. I didn't see it being used in the end. Also what is your name I've watched about five videos of yours and still don't know your name =[
The checkered hole is for air, & you can sit the light on top of it...and my name is Jason :)....Thank you!!!!!
❤🦆❤️🦆
Gave me an idea. I got a Muscovy duck sitting on eggs. An I've had to put ducklings outside after a few weeks ugg they stink.
My goodness man! At first I was gonna mail you a whiny 😫 towel...but I kept watching...new subscriber now...just don’t be dising them ducks 🦆!! Great eggs and TAAAASTY meat birds too! Embrace the duck!!

ThankS! We are using this sucker right now
When is that goat going outside!?
You complain about ducks..... .omg... have you ever raised a goose? Goose poop is the worse!!!!! I love geese... but there poop..!!!!!!
I have 6 geese and am thinking about selling all 6. lol
Zipp ties to one side like a ring binder affect
❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️
Now she needs an emu and a herd of silkie chickens.
Omg she has been on an emu kick all week...I have held strong!
Be strong, Daddy. Be strong.
As I'm looking at baby ducks online because my own little girl has been begging for some for weeks now.
Ducks definitely stink and messy 😆 We have 3 baby ducks now and they have been a mess. Using this milk jar idea. It is insane how fast they grow 😆
Want to see what you all can hatch from those duck eggs😍
👍👍💖
im laughing so hard cuz i put my dad and husband through the same thing when it comes to baby ducks (im trying to sell them but gotta make a big enough flock) but how many can you fit in there im trying to breed at least 840 a month for 3 months (mating season last 3 months right)
Yo what can I do w my ducks if i can’t take care of em anymore. I’m not trynna release em in the wild and watch them get merked by other ducks 😭😭
Fun Fact:. Bigfoot likes to eat ducklings for Sunday brunch
I LOVE ducks - HOWEVER. They are poop-squirting machines that go off every 5 minutes. I would raise them off quite a-ways from the house. Nasty, but also awesome-cute, great eggs and roast duck... YUM.
More like Friday the 13th
Hey! Your hat has a hole in it!
Lol love the video. But they still stink :)
Great idea! Ducks are sooo nasty.
