- Watch as speech therapist, Brittany Fleming, and occupational therapist, Valerie Holiga encourage Rage to communicate using his Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
For a starters, we are non speaking, NOT non verbal, he obviously understood WORDS so he is VERBAL
@Miley And Heavenly no YOU know nothing, go look up the definition of “Verbal” or even “verb”, you will find it is to do with WORDS not speech. If he understand WORDS which he clearly does, he is VERBAL and non speaking. By the way you are taking on someone who is like him and I am annoyed right now so, you want a fight lady, bring it!!

@Miley And Heavenly if he CAN understand WORDS which he clearly CAN, he is VERBAL (someone obviously wagged English class at school)! He is non SPEAKING because he doesn’t SPEAK! Seriously lady listen to the people who actually know, to the ones who experience the same thing he does, please tell me you don’t have a child, let alone a disabled one?
@PatriciaSmith-kx8hr My point is if he can understand words (which he does) then he’s verbal (and if anyone needs reminding what a verb is, go to any English teacher).
I completely get agree with you. Do you think this method (PEC Cards) is helpful for developing speech? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
