    Needs a new intake temperature sensor, computer doesn’t know it’s cold so it’s not changing the timing my old classic never took more than 2-3 seconds to start no matter how cold it was!

      I would make sure you have someone that knows the check it out. It’s awesome you have that kind of mileage, but it would suck to have the block destroyed because something failed. Bull gear is a common failure on higher mileage units. I bet that engine sounds great! I’d love to see some video of it in action.

    This is why I love the Series 60. I've driven Cummins ISX, Cat C15, even Volvo D13. But the Detroit just doesn't know the meaning of the word die.
    My dad had 2 DDS60 powered Fords while I was growing up. The trucks fell apart around the engines! Only reason he got rid of either was because of electrical issues (Ford/Sterling trucks are notorious for it). But the Detroits still ran strong.

      Very few on highway heavy duty engines had glow plugs, you'll find them in old tractors and older light duty engines. Just about every current generation heavy duty diesel engine since the first decade of the 2000s has a grid heater in the intake manifold of the engine to aid in cold starts.

    What a delightful exhaust pipe, probably the most beautiful I've ever seen. This is how every diesel should smoke, with delicious smoke that can contain 3 colors if you pay attention. The delicious black, the delightful blue and the cleanest smoke: white. The more smoke and poison comes out, the better it smells. So there can't be enough of that delicious smoke coming out, which is also heavily addictive and smells better than the most expensive perfume.

      15 minutes at low idle in cold weather when you are trying to warm up the engine does more damage to your cylinders, rings, and pistons. Crank it to 1,000 rpm after the black smoke clears up and it will heat up the engine faster. I work on these engines for a living.

    How did you get that much HP? The 14L is only rated at 515hp max, and the 12.7L is less than that?

    • @psychoticgamers13
      @psychoticgamers13  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ya it was a 430-500 from factory just tuned it and turned fuel pump up and removed waste gate,so its at 550 and 53 pounds of boost,back when this video was made now its around 750HP with bigger turbo,bigger cam and tons of other shit

      Detroit actually made a 550 HP. I have a 2001 Western Star Constellation, it has a 550/575 HP from the factory. They only made them a couple of years. When you PDI them they're a beast. Most are 470, 500, 515 and a 600.

      2-9 settings. On nine setting I burned my clutch and broke the shaft. Close to 1,000 HP. If you want.

      never use ether, i learned that the hard way . you will snap ring's when it's that cold and hit it with ether!!!!!

      Spray WD-40 in the breather, much easier on the rings and head gaskets than ether.
