Story 3- 1. Before OP leaves, she should buy itching powder, 2. She should spread it _everywhere_ she can manage that she knows his parents will specifically be doing it on, especially her bed, 3. Try to time it so she leaves right after she does step 2 so that she's long gone by the time her parents actually are affected or realize what happened. Step 4. Laugh in triumph. Alternate plan, if she has a huge amount of money and wants to do something completely insane. Buy a fox, and leave it in the house while they're out with some food and free reign of the house, and the fox will make her point for her, _very_ effectively. Later, retrieve it once the parents come home and reward it with treats, then probably give it to a rescue. Those who know about keeping foxes will know why I bring that up...I'm not serious about this suggestion though, just mentioning it for laughs.

For story one my little cousin threw a tantrum one time when they were celebrating his brothers birthday. He was young and didn't quite understand that the gifts and cake weren't for him. Along with he has serious anger issues and throws tantrums at the drop of the hat. Yet they still didn't just let him get away with it, and got it through to him that not every birthday celebration is about him. That first story is going to raise a monster honestly.

I got many birthdays ruined by my little cousin cause she'd throw a tantrum if she didn't open all the presents and everyone in the family enabled her. Adults didn't care during their birthdays but I was still a kid and I wanted to open my presents. Against all odds she's a wonderful young woman now

Rslash didnt give a good reply here or good advice. Notice that the "kid" is actually 19 years old, a full fledged adult. At that point, anything the parents bought and resides in their home belongs to the parents, not the kid. If she wants her own stuff and her own privacy, then she better be the adult she is and move out. What kids dont get is sometimes parents will purposely piss off their kids to get them out of the house and move on with their lives. And kids get mad because they wanna remain kids and continue to shirk off adult responsibility. Parents who fail to launch their kids out of their home are deemed failures at life by society.

Also, we don't know the full context of OP's situation to say whether or not they can leave when able, or OP's responsibilities while living there, say a job or anything. We only know their siblings have left based on the "come back over the holidays" part, but not much else. While I agree that parents should want their kids to live their lives, there are ways to go about it that don't involve being straight up gross. Even with being 19, it doesn't necessarily mean anyone is ready to be an adult as there's a process. From reviewing the story, we still don't know much beyond what's been told and thinking further on it is nothing but speculation unless OP clarifies.

Not to be a Karen, but i grew up being called trailer trash my whole childhood bc my parents could only afford a trailer. Kids would be so mean about where I lived and I was extremely embarrassed at bus drop offs/pick ups. But I really wish people would stop using that term to describe people. The videos of officer's wives trying to get out of speeding tickets and stuff on base because "my husband is so and so" are hilarious. Several officers have gotten in trouble for their spouses and I'm sure many divorces or threats of it have occurred.

@@AmericanDivaa We don't know where the story is. On one hand, it is in the US, where that is a little harsh. On another, it is in a country where kids are "turned out" a lot sooner, and so the "kid" likely should have moved out by now. On the third hand, it could be in a country where the "kid" is expected to live at home longer, which makes it even crueler. It is messed up that the parents are doing this, but we don't have a lot of context of what has occurred prior to this. Maybe OP was expected to move out, and is refusing. Maybe mom and dad are experiencing empty nest syndrome, maybe mom and dad are celebrating a vasectomy.

There was a screaming mimi at one of the local stores a few months ago. He was in full swing when I rolled into the store (with my mask on) and as I rolled by, he pointed at me yelling that I was being allowed into the store even though I was disabled. The employee said that I was wearing a mask so I could enter the store. I admit that I sped up just to get away from that confrontation, but what is it with some people not caring if they get people they care about sick?
About that guy whose parents passionately hugged in his bed: He's not being unreasonable. The reason I say that is because my parents did the same thing to me after I came home from a trip while still in middle school. What made it worse was them telling me to my face, "Looks like you'll need to wash your sheets," as they walked out of my bedroom. And yes, they were smiling about it. I'm sorry but IMO that is blatant sexual abuse. Part of grooming is trying to make inappropriate sexual acts, conversation, etc. out to be just normal everyday occurrences. College is EXTREMELY expensive and don't get me started on how hard it is to get a nice house or even a basic apartment especially in California where I live. So it's common to live with your parents until you are like 27. And even after moving out of your parents house. shared living spaces are also VERY common with Millennials and Gen Z. Because its easier to pay rent or mortgage with a roommate or 2 than by yourself💀💀

I was SP4 when my active duty ended. If an entitled family member tried that crap on me, it wouldn't have been pretty. If I wasn't intimidated by their husbands, why would I listen to them? I had mission critical duty, and I worked more hours than anyone else on the base. During two years active duty, I knocked down four officers who got between me and my duty. I nearly put one in the hospital, when an office chair hit him between his legs and he was on the floor sobbing . I had warned him twice to leave the restricted area, bu 'I outrank you!' I work at a pharmacy, since it's an essential business, we don't ask for vaccine ID (We literally do Vaccines there so it's pretty silly to ask). We serve a lot of elderly, retired, and disabled people, people who would 100% fall under the threshold for a medical exemption without question. Yet the only people who come in without a mask are; a. The dementia afflicted (They put on a mask when asked b. People who are looking to BUY a mask because they lost theirs. c. Random middle aged people who walk in, browse, for 30 seconds, and pretty much dare me to ask them to put a mask on.
As one who is physically disabled, I can tell you that, in the US at least, there are no "disability papers" that we are given to "prove" one's disability. Just puting that out there...
I am an American who is disabled (on SSDI) and we actually DO have disability papers. It is the award letter given to us on the onset of disability benefits. You can always print it out from the SSA website. Problem is, WHO is going to carry six to 10 letter sided sheets of paper EVERYWHERE we go. But unfortunately, the papers do exist and many places that have vaccine or mask mandates want either the vac card, the mask, or your papers. Welcome to East GERMANY 1972 (USA branch).
I should also like to add that if you're applying for disability-centric college scholarships, they require paperwork from your doctor or physician supporting that, yes, you have XYZ. In my case, Tourette's Syndrome.
@@clarky23 But that doesn't correspond to medical exemptions for masks. That's literally only for Social Security Disability status. You can have asthma which doesn't affect your ability to work but would affect your ability to wear a mask during physical activities.
@@clarky23 well, ok. You're right about that. I started receiving my SSDI several years ago, but I never thought to carry them around with me wherever I went to prove my disabilities. Not to mention that I lost those papers in a fire about a year after having been approved for SSDI. I'll bet I can print them from the .gov site for disabilities. Being younger than the average individual with disabilities, I get some pushback every once in a while, but I feel that I shouldn't have to prove to everyone with a bee in their bonnet (usually Karens) that I am in fact disabled. Often times, I feel that the fact that I have a disability placard in my van should be proof enough 😅
@@kodahansen8080 I have pretty mild asthma but is highly sensitive to air humidity and temperature. Cold and dry air, hot and humid. Something in-between works best. It can't be addressed with medication either. Masks... is rather stressful to me. Thankfully, my country has never introduced mask mandates. They recognise that most people can't use them correctly. While also not following other measures. Like social distancing, which is way more important.
i had a similar experience to the parents screwing in their kids room. my dad was down on his luck after he had a fight with his girlfriend. my younger sister let him stay at her house while he sorted himself out. anyways, she comes home one day to find all the house doors locked (after she gave him the keys and asked him to make a copy). she went around to the side to tap on the bedroom window to get his attention, and he was in there having sex with his girlfriend on her bed with the windows wide open. who the hell takes advantage of their kids kindness like that?? the way he treated my sister was the last straw and i haven't spoken to him since. probably never will.

In fact, despite them being happily married for more than 40 years, I know absolutely nothing about their sex life, and I'm so glad that's the case. Chances are, it's only been done behind locked doors or while I'm out of the house. Heck, even if it was just a guest that wasn't related to them, the parents shouldn't be having loud sex, especially in common areas of the house.
For the third story, I might have a solution. Next time they making noise in a place you don't want them to, go ask to join. Of course, you're not gonna, but their reaction would very well be to stop doing that. If they think you have interest in joining them they may try to be more discrete about it and not do it in places that would be so intrusive.
the birthday story: my nephew had a phase when he asked for presents on other people's birthdays. my mom got his mother(my SIL) a present for her birthday once and then he came along and said 'where is my present?'. then my SIL pulled my mom to the side and whispered 'could you go and get something for him?' it turned out the parents have been giving him presents for years, no matter whose birthday it was, as well as his grandparents (on mother's side). my mom refused. my nephew overcame that phase luckily.
I feel so bad for workers having to enforce mask mandates. Where I live the rules constantly change to a point where you have to check multiple times a week to make sure you don't get in a stupid situation. It's happened to me multiple times in bars or during shopping and the very apologetic staff always offered me to show me new rules and would've explained them to me if asked for. Not once did I think to let my frustration out on them because they're not the ones making the rules and don't deserve to be put through a rant on something the didn't make and can't control. These people are just the underpaid saps who now on top of their job need to enforce mask and distancing rules and deal with entitled people like that family.

I can see why OP's parents feel highly insulted and don't want to show the results anyway; perhaps because it doesn't matter what I as the family member say: If I said I tested positive, you would believe me without one second of hesitation and shut me out of your life until you got PROOF I was better. It isn't entitled to deny showing my child MY MEDICAL INFORMATION. Regardless. That's like saying "I demand to see the Doctor's notes to PROVE you don't have CANCER!" True friendships between unrelated adults and kids are rare, so I was relieved to see OP is still able to hang out despite the daughter not being allowed. I was scared for a second because you've gotta hit it off really well to have such a gap in age and still enjoy eachother's presence enough to be friends. To everyone who has someone they know/are related to that has asthma and they wear a mask for x hours at a time and do just fine then awesome good for them. I truly am glad to hear that there are people with mild enough asthma that they don't have issues cuz having moderate to sever asthma sucks. But please keep in mind that not everybody's asthma is the same. Many people have moderate or severe asthma and masking for long periods of time truly do cause issues and even lead to asthma attacks. Does that mean you get to be rude and demand you get a medical exemption with no proof. Nope not at all. The lady in the story was waaay out of line. But to sit there and say that everyone with asthma should be able to mask with zero issues just because one person can is the same as saying a basketball player should be able to play football or baseball with no issues because all 3 are sports that use a ball. Everybody's asthma is different its severity, what triggers are worse than others, and how it overall affects the person who has it. TLDR: Don't compare everyone with asthma to the one person you know who has it everyone's asthma is different. Asthma still isn't an excuse to be rude about wearing a mask.
This. And someone might not have asthma but have some other medical condition that precludes masks. For instance my mom has a bleeding disorder that prominently shows up in her lungs and it prevents her from wearing a mask or getting the vaccine. She's had multiple lung surgeries and is extremely succeptable to lower respiratory infections. But you would never know it by how she looks and behaves.

@@alishaw2454 I'm sure in some places they do but not all. It differs from country to country and even from within countries. My part of the U.S. for example doesn't do medical exemptions at all. Right now my city has lifted mandates but when they were active you either masked or you couldn't go in buildings period. My doctors office even has a policy that says they won't write you a note no matter what you have. Your lungs can fill up with blood if you mask, your going to have asthma attacks daily that last hours cuz your wearing one 8 hours a day and your asthma is moderate or severe? Too bad no note for you.

Story 2: if the parents went and got a test, told OP that they tested negative, and OP demands to see the results, yeah, I can see where the parents would be upset. That is straight up saying, “I don’t believe you at all, prove it.” Like my sister had a baby last year. They told me I had to get 2 shots (I don’t do needles) before I could see the baby. Even though I don’t do needles I got them anyway so I could see my nephew. I told my sister that I had gotten them and I visited the baby. She didn’t ask me for verification of the shots, she didn’t ask for a receipt or a doctors’ note or anything. She just let me see the baby because she believed me. She could have easily tried to since she knows my fear of needles and how much I hate then but she didn’t because why would I lie about that..?

"Disability papers" aren't a thing and asking someone to prove their disability is an ADA violation and begging for a lawsuit if the disability is legitimate. The end result is kind of like how TH-cam deals with DMCA - you can get the law involved if you truly think you're in the right, but if you're not you're going to make some laywers VERY happy. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe that what the woman or her family did was right, but there's a proper way to deal with it that wouldn't make you liable for an ADA suit (if the kids actually have any relevant disabilities). The fact Karen claims they offered to show papers to the owner, in my opinion, proves they were making false claims about disabilities. The closest thing to "disability papers" would be a decision letter from social security that declares their finding. That paper can be requested if you're attempting to qualify for a government program for people with disabilities.
This makes me so happy I live in Florida! People live and let live here. Plenty of people wore masks, and some still do, most of us are vaccinated (without mandates for either), and we were not mean to each other or paranoid about each other's decisions. We balance public safety and personal liberty, and it works.
Yeah, I wish the rest of the country would just stop with all the nonsense. If you want to get vaxed and get your ten boosters, you do you. But your health is your own responsibility, and people who don’t get it and don’t wear masks aren’t going to make the world bust into flames.
With the second story with Covid, I honestly think OP was entitled. I know a few people who did stuff like this and then later complained when family who were told to test or not come decided after Covid not to visit. If someone drives hours and then YOU tell them to go to a hospital (mind you that many hospital waiting rooms TRANSMITTED more Covid) and when they tell you their results you demand to see them yourself, yeah, insult. If that story was an AITA I would have said ESH. But I am the stubborn sort who if I got tested and then told my loved one my results and they said they wanted to see the results I would have been “you don’t believe me?...fuck you I’m going home.” But I am ornery that way on issues like that.
I think 100% that the parents didn't even get tested, they sat in the waiting room for 20 minutes and decided they'd had enough and left before getting tested. That's why they don't have them to show.
Story 2 : My guess is, the parents did not do any test and therefore cant provide a result. They did not want to do the test from the start, so they just pretended to have negative results because they feel fine/not sick

Mhm, i would actually say if someone claims they are excempt from rules then you have to produce the paperwork to prove it. At least it works like this in germany we simply show our identity cards for the disabled and that's enough for most businesses. I think if the owner asked first then it would be a problem. But either way i think she's right since otherwise everyone could simply run around claiming to be disabled to get the perks (skipping lines, get Discounts, entry in disabled only areas etc.)

I had a customer come in with a small dog before and didn't question if she was disabled or not. On a more personal level, I'm not too fond of the idea of asking people for proof of disability or vaccine papers due to it being a sign of ''Paper's Please''.

No, it makes it hard enough to breathe without a mask restricting your air flow. Masks are only effective if the person wearing one is sick. If I'm not sick I don't need a mask, and wearing one won't help me not get Covid since the mouth/nose is not the only entrance for Covid.

Those who know about keeping foxes will know why I bring that up...I'm not serious about this suggestion though, just mentioning it for laughs.

At that point, anything the parents bought and resides in their home belongs to the parents, not the kid. If she wants her own stuff and her own privacy, then she better be the adult she is and move out.

Not to be a Karen, but i grew up being called trailer trash my whole childhood bc my parents could only afford a trailer. Kids would be so mean about where I lived and I was extremely embarrassed at bus drop offs/pick ups. But I really wish people would stop using that term to describe people. On another, it is in a country where kids are "turned out" a lot sooner, and so the "kid" likely should have moved out by now. On the third hand, it could be in a country where the "kid" is expected to live at home longer, which makes it even crueler.
It is messed up that the parents are doing this, but we don't have a lot of context of what has occurred prior to this. Maybe OP was expected to move out, and is refusing. Maybe mom and dad are experiencing empty nest syndrome, maybe mom and dad are celebrating a vasectomy.

There was a screaming mimi at one of the local stores a few months ago. He was in full swing when I rolled into the store (with my mask on) and as I rolled by, he pointed at me yelling that I was being allowed into the store even though I was disabled. The employee said that I was wearing a mask so I could enter the store. I admit that I sped up just to get away from that confrontation, but what is it with some people not caring if they get people they care about sick?

College is EXTREMELY expensive and don't get me started on how hard it is to get a nice house or even a basic apartment especially in California where I live. So it's common to live with your parents until you are like 27. And even after moving out of your parents house. shared living spaces are also VERY common with Millennials and Gen Z. Because its easier to pay rent or mortgage with a roommate or 2 than by yourself💀💀

I work at a pharmacy, since it's an essential business, we don't ask for vaccine ID (We literally do Vaccines there so it's pretty silly to ask). We serve a lot of elderly, retired, and disabled people, people who would 100% fall under the threshold for a medical exemption without question. Yet the only people who come in without a mask are;
a. The dementia afflicted (They put on a mask when asked
b. People who are looking to BUY a mask because they lost theirs.
c. Random middle aged people who walk in, browse, for 30 seconds, and pretty much dare me to ask them to put a mask on.
People who work in pharmacies should be aware that masks don't stop viruses.

As one who is physically disabled, I can tell you that, in the US at least, there are no "disability papers" that we are given to "prove" one's disability. Just puting that out there...
I am an American who is disabled (on SSDI) and we actually DO have disability papers. It is the award letter given to us on the onset of disability benefits. You can always print it out from the SSA website. Problem is, WHO is going to carry six to 10 letter sided sheets of paper EVERYWHERE we go. But unfortunately, the papers do exist and many places that have vaccine or mask mandates want either the vac card, the mask, or your papers. Welcome to East GERMANY 1972 (USA branch).
I should also like to add that if you're applying for disability-centric college scholarships, they require paperwork from your doctor or physician supporting that, yes, you have XYZ. In my case, Tourette's Syndrome.

In fact, despite them being happily married for more than 40 years, I know absolutely nothing about their sex life, and I'm so glad that's the case. Heck, even if it was just a guest that wasn't related to them, the parents shouldn't be having loud sex, especially in common areas of the house.
For the third story, I might have a solution. Next time they making noise in a place you don't want them to, go ask to join. Of course, you're not gonna, but their reaction would very well be to stop doing that. If they think you have interest in joining them they may try to be more discrete about it and not do it in places that would be so intrusive.
the birthday story: my nephew had a phase when he asked for presents on other people's birthdays. my mom got his mother(my SIL) a present for her birthday once and then he came along and said 'where is my present?'. then my SIL pulled my mom to the side and whispered 'could you go and get something for him?' it turned out the parents have been giving him presents for years, no matter whose birthday it was, as well as his grandparents (on mother's side). my mom refused. my nephew overcame that phase luckily.
I feel so bad for workers having to enforce mask mandates. Where I live the rules constantly change to a point where you have to check multiple times a week to make sure you don't get in a stupid situation. It's happened to me multiple times in bars or during shopping and the very apologetic staff always offered me to show me new rules and would've explained them to me if asked for. Not once did I think to let my frustration out on them because they're not the ones making the rules and don't deserve to be put through a rant on something the didn't make and can't control. These people are just the underpaid saps who now on top of their job need to enforce mask and distancing rules and deal with entitled people like that family.

Regarding the last story about this supposed 'Naval commander's wife': As has been mentioned in multiple videos, it should be stressed that the behavior of military spouses serves as a reflection upon their significant other in the service. True friendships between unrelated adults and kids are rare, so I was relieved to see OP is still able to hang out despite the daughter not being allowed. To everyone who has someone they know/are related to that has asthma and they wear a mask for x hours at a time and do just fine then awesome good for them. I truly am glad to hear that there are people with mild enough asthma that they don't have issues cuz having moderate to sever asthma sucks. But please keep in mind that not everybody's asthma is the same. Many people have moderate or severe asthma and masking for long periods of time truly do cause issues and even lead to asthma attacks.
Does that mean you get to be rude and demand you get a medical exemption with no proof. Nope not at all. The lady in the story was waaay out of line. But to sit there and say that everyone with asthma should be able to mask with zero issues just because one person can is the same as saying a basketball player should be able to play football or baseball with no issues because all 3 are sports that use a ball. Everybody's asthma is different its severity, what triggers are worse than others, and how it overall affects the person who has it.
TLDR: Don't compare everyone with asthma to the one person you know who has it everyone's asthma is different. Asthma still isn't an excuse to be rude about wearing a mask.
This. And someone might not have asthma but have some other medical condition that precludes masks. For instance my mom has a bleeding disorder that prominently shows up in her lungs and it prevents her from wearing a mask or getting the vaccine. She's had multiple lung surgeries and is extremely succeptable to lower respiratory infections. But you would never know it by how she looks and behaves.

@@alishaw2454 I'm sure in some places they do but not all. It differs from country to country and even from within countries. My part of the U.S. for example doesn't do medical exemptions at all. Right now my city has lifted mandates but when they were active you either masked or you couldn't go in buildings period. My doctors office even has a policy that says they won't write you a note no matter what you have. Your lungs can fill up with blood if you mask, your going to have asthma attacks daily that last hours cuz your wearing one 8 hours a day and your asthma is moderate or severe? Too bad no note for you.

Like my sister had a baby last year. They told me I had to get 2 shots (I don’t do needles) before I could see the baby. Even though I don’t do needles I got them anyway so I could see my nephew. I told my sister that I had gotten them and I visited the baby. She didn’t ask me for verification of the shots, she didn’t ask for a receipt or a doctors’ note or anything. She just let me see the baby because she believed me. She could have easily tried to since she knows my fear of needles and how much I hate then but she didn’t because why would I lie about that..?

It's not a difficult thing to provide test results, if they we taken. I think it's fair for the family to ask of this especially when the gathering was planned weeks in advance. If you had problems with getting tested, you could have just let them know and not wait to the last minute.

Okay but with some kids how do you make them wear a mask if they WONT WEAR IT? My nephew's are twins and both have severe autism. I am terrified of getting yelled at in public for them not wearing a mask and having to get in a confrontation over it. My sister works as an ABA therapist and they don't even make the kids wear masks, just all the staff, because it's hard to get special needs kids to comply with masks. I asked my friend who has a neurotypical child what she does when her son won't wear his mask and she said she just keeps putting it back on him. But I've tried that and it doesn't work, they will start a meltdown etc.

"Disability papers" aren't a thing and asking someone to prove their disability is an ADA violation and begging for a lawsuit if the disability is legitimate.
The end result is kind of like how TH-cam deals with DMCA - you can get the law involved if you truly think you're in the right, but if you're not you're going to make some laywers VERY happy. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe that what the woman or her family did was right, but there's a proper way to deal with it that wouldn't make you liable for an ADA suit (if the kids actually have any relevant disabilities). The fact Karen claims they offered to show papers to the owner, in my opinion, proves they were making false claims about disabilities.
The closest thing to "disability papers" would be a decision letter from social security that declares their finding. That paper can be requested if you're attempting to qualify for a government program for people with disabilities.
This makes me so happy I live in Florida!
People live and let live here. Plenty of people wore masks, and some still do, most of us are vaccinated (without mandates for either), and we were not mean to each other or paranoid about each other's decisions. We balance public safety and personal liberty, and it works.
Seriously. Florida was pretty much back to normal like 9 months after all this craziness started. And it's worked pretty well for the most part.
Yeah, I wish the rest of the country would just stop with all the nonsense. If you want to get vaxed and get your ten boosters, you do you. But your health is your own responsibility, and people who don’t get it and don’t wear masks aren’t going to make the world bust into flames.

With the second story with Covid, I honestly think OP was entitled. I know a few people who did stuff like this and then later complained when family who were told to test or not come decided after Covid not to visit. If someone drives hours and then YOU tell them to go to a hospital (mind you that many hospital waiting rooms TRANSMITTED more Covid) and when they tell you their results you demand to see them yourself, yeah, insult. If that story was an AITA I would have said ESH. But I am the stubborn sort who if I got tested and then told my loved one my results and they said they wanted to see the results I would have been “you don’t believe me?...fuck you I’m going home.” But I am ornery that way on issues like that.
I think 100% that the parents didn't even get tested, they sat in the waiting room for 20 minutes and decided they'd had enough and left before getting tested. That's why they don't have them to show.

I have read articles before that many shops won't enforce it but kindly ask everyone to wear it because obviously staff aren't paid to deal with Karens and Kevins and it down to local authorises to deal with it. @@annesophie4037 US is different. Retail workers are prohibited from asking customer if they are disabled or not due to it being an act of discrimination. I had a customer come in with a small dog before and didn't question if she was disabled or not. On a more personal level, I'm not too fond of the idea of asking people for proof of disability or vaccine papers due to it being a sign of ''Paper's Please''.

In the second story, OP is extremely worried about the risk to her child from two double vaccinated, boosted, and asymptomatic people, but incredibly blase about the risk her elderly parents are taking by driving 350 miles each way.
I bet they've never taken time to compare these risks, and think which is higher and by how much.

I share a birthday with two younger cousins. Sometimes we had a joint party, but usually we had our own parties at our own homes and family made the circuit to visit all of us. I can't imagine someone throwing a temper tantrum because the birthday person was rightfully the center of attention.

I agree, plus the 2 year old is probably the safest from covid of all of them. (Seriously a 2 year old has a better chance of severe side effects from a vaccine than even getting covid) Do what you will, but don't expect everyone to bow to your wishes.

I watched this video solely because what was put in the title actually happened to me. I was locked out of my room and tasked to watch my infant sisters who were screaming their heads off and I didn't know what to do because I was just a kid myself. My step-dad(mom's ex husband) is a better person now, but my mom? Nah. Disowned her.

For the couch story, I think it's worse than OP's mom using the couch as a power play to mark her territory as a show of dominance over OP (or however that went). OP's mom is probably just not considering OP at all. Not even so much as a "Oh, who cares," but rather OP doesn't even _enter_ her mind during, much less cross it.
If you/your kid has asthma, isnt that all the more reason to wear a mask? Like, asthma makes getting covid way more dangerous. Better to have a harder time breathing for a few hours while you shop than to have a horrible time breathing for weeks because you got covid, right?
No, it makes it hard enough to breathe without a mask restricting your air flow.
Masks are only effective if the person wearing one is sick. If I'm not sick I don't need a mask, and wearing one won't help me not get Covid since the mouth/nose is not the only entrance for Covid.
Asthma also makes it harder to breathe when wearing a mask. So it's a crapshoot either way
