Going mainstream means giving up your cultural identity. Even though reggae is world famous, Americans have yet to fully accept as mainstream. The first record Rihanna made in America was also the last one like that because it had a Caribbean vibe to it. Now she sings stuff completely different from the culture she grew up with. Never change the sounds of Soca.

I’m a Kes Superfan, but it’s definitely not true that the English don’t teach about colonialism. People need to not say stuff like that that isn’t true. If someone says that, then that means that they didn’t pay attention in school. It’s a total lie that colonialism isn’t taught in school in the UK or the U.S.
