The closest thing to having a tree of my own is having the children come to you to show you the ornaments they were putting up. I have a "real" wreath hanging near my couch, so I could smell Christmas tree while I watched. Lovely!

Thanks for that I didn't realize how impactful it would be. My mom died two years on 12/26 and as an adult I've never had a tree because she had one but watching y'all trim it brought me back to my childhood when we'd string popcorn and cranberries, that was when cranberries were .50 cents a bag, not $3 bucks. We had so much fun doing that and the tinsel. Thanks again.

Every vacation or family outings we get ornaments, usually trying to reflect a memory we did during that adventure. When we get back home, he ornaments go into a box on the attic stairs and we forget about them until we pull out he decorations. Our house, I fluff the tree and then i sit and unwrap ornaments as the guys hang them on the tree. With each one remember where we got it, what the memory was, and share stories. Holly Jolly! 😊

Such a delightful video. Thank you Jess for sharing this very special time with us. Being an old Mimaw, I have so many precious memories of Christmas’s past. We were blessed with four children and my mother, Gram lived with us for over thirty years. My husband remodeled our hose and added on a den with a 14’ ceiling. So, the next Christmas, we went to the tree farm and he and our children picked a 13’ tree. You can imagine how many strings of lights it took, and then we would pull out all our ornaments and the fun began. Back then we would put those packaged icicles all over it. Then we would turn off the all the lights and be amazed. It truly is one of my favorite memories of our young family. We didn’t have a lot of money but at that moment I felt like the richest Momma alive. Merry Christmas to you a d your wonderful family. I always wanted a room with my kids (5) pictures. So when we moved into our forever home few yrs back I turned our extra living room into a gallery of my children & grand children. Nothing else on my walls but their pics. Probably about 50-60 pics. I absolutely love it 💕
You are so blessed that your sons help you decorate for Christmas. I have three sons, but they have never cared whether we decorate or not. They have never cared whether we had a tree. They are all grown now and don't even want gifts anymore. They just want good food and family time.
I am truly blessed to have sons who value spending time with family over material temporal things. Money and gifts give temporary joy, but memories made spending time with family brings lasting joy.

My all time favorite Christmas ornament was a big plastic silver bell with a music box in it. It played 3 different instrumental Christmas songs. I had it up until about 10 years ago when it finally quit working. It was over 25 years old. Every Christmas brings forth a new memory that somehow manages to replace forgotten memories. Enjoy!

When your small children decorate the tree leave the ornaments where they put them. I use to move them around after they went to bed to balance everything out. My 7 children range in age from early 30- mid 40’s and what is one of the things they remember? They all have said that they remember getting up in the morning and wondering why I moved the ornaments, a few have said they lost interest in helping because I always redid it😢 So let the littles have their moment because they are so fleeting🥰

The first Christmas my son was married was the hardest! We always put the tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving. My husband started the tradition of our son helping put the tree together (ya know those trees that had a hundred branches to put in multiple rows!) when he was almost 2 , and they did that every year for the next 18 Christmases. Thanksgiving weekend of 2022 the tree went up here and our son and daughter in law started their own family holiday traditions 6 hours away. Memories are good.
