    It's come to my attention that my light meter, the UPRTek CV-600, might be reading things a little warm with more modern LED technology. Andrew Lock from Gaffer & Gear, (another excellent reviewer) was using the same meter for awhile, and he noticed that his CCT readings were reading a little low as the measured CCT increased with more modern LED wavelengths, so keep that in mind if you're looking for specifics on CCT accuracy here. I will need to go pick up a Sekonic C-800 for my follow up video to address CCT accuracy.

      Zero noise at lower power levels with fan in "auto" mode (fan is not running), and fan noise in "force" mode or at higher intensities is very low, quite reasonable for the output.

    Hey Tommy, we currently have a godox sl60w with large softbox and were looking for a secondary light, but wanted something maybe a little more compact as it takes up a lot of space. Is there a similarly priced light panel you could recommend?

  • @tristancruz2806
    @tristancruz2806 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    How does the output compare to a 300x throughout there bi-color spectrum? Is the panel overall brighter or is the 300x brighter?

    • @TommyCallaway
      @TommyCallaway  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It sorta depends. The panel produces soft light, and has a larger range (2k to 10k instead of 3200 to 5600), but it is not a point source so you can't focus the light, and using accessories like the hyper reflector will give you higher readings with the 300x. But if you diffused the 300x you would likely less output than what you're seeing from the nova. I will have that side by side using the same diffusion / same distance away in my future breakdown.

    Definetly game changer for the LED market. RIP to Skypanel, gemini and kino freestyle :)

    • @TommyCallaway
      @TommyCallaway  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty much. Arri has been around for a lot longer in this market, so they have a larger product line, with panels like the skypanel s360-c which is a 1.5Kw panel 6 times larger than the s60 (that costs $20k USD). The nova p300c is Aputure's *FIRST* product entered into this market, so you can bet they're going to be dropping more products in larger sizes in the coming years that will eat away at the what remaining market share the competition has very soon.

    • @BookOfKen
      @BookOfKen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TommyCallaway Arri as of now has failed to innovate and continue to push boundaries after practically 5 years from launch. For all you know they've been working on a SkyPanel 2, and they are gonna mop the floor haha, but as of now, this is definitely a market where the innovators are going to prosper greatly. Even the gemini lacks some things, for example I have a gemini 2x1 with me, and the yoke can't even hold the weight of my modifier and it droops downward slowly over time, and that's almost a $4k light, you would think something that simple wouldn't happen. Seems to me Aputure listening to their customers is gonna continue to push them forward haha. Love your videos by the way Tommy, keep them up :)

    Trying to wrap my head on the power - the LS1 c is "10,000" and the Nova is 9,000 - 120 degree beam angle tells the tale?

    • @TommyCallaway
      @TommyCallaway  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the LS1 has a beam angle of like 45 deg, and must be the single color version for 10k lux at 1m, and has lower color quality. The nova has *all* colors, better color quality, the entire white range is over 9k lux at 120 degree beam angle, as well as all the other features. *significantly* more light output. I always try to tell people that you could measure the output of a laser pointer and it would have an insane "lux" number.. but add a little diffusion and it won't light anything at all. Beam angle / quantity of output / hotspots are super important thing to consider once you start using the light.

    • @TommyCallaway
      @TommyCallaway  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The build quality on the Yidoblo lights is awful in comparison, the user interface sucks, and the color fidelity is pretty poor - it's only an RGBW light, so only 4 color channels. I would go for the aputure light every time. Also, resell-ability on the aputure lights is much higher. Given the choice, I would stay away from the yidoblo.

    Preset buttons are useful, I hope they will eventually have 8 preset buttons instead of just 4. The power cable is proprietary and expensive to replace, perhaps someone could make a short 6" adapter so we can plug in US standard 3-prong cables that so many electronic components have. I love the unit, looking to buy another. Can multiple Bluetooth devices use to control the unit? So far I can only use one device at a time to control my Nova 300.
