Re: learning to play by ear. I think one factor that affects your ability to do so, is the age at which you started noticing stuff in the music you'd listen to. The younger, the better. Then again, it also depends how much you like to pay attention to smaller details in general. Source: my own experience O:) As for how to train it... One way to go about it, is to take your favorite songs and start dissecting them. Try to listen for every little detail. You think, for example, that a song is tuned to Drop D? Maybe you'll find something to show you that it's infact tuned to Standard D instead. You think you hear a fretted note? Maybe it's an open one. You think you hear a power-chord lower than the suggested tuning? Maybe it's just an inverted one (looking at you folks, Dime, Jeff Loomis and Michael Romeo!). And so on, and so forth. Another way would be, to find guitar tabs for your favorite songs and compare what you see on the tab, to what you actually hear on the record. As an added bonus you'll be surprised to see how the majority of guitar tabs out there are just plain wrong :D And especially nowadays, run your favorite songs through a DAW, isolate the left and right channels, cancel the center, flip the phase... ANYTHING you can think of!
I believe Adam Neely said the keys for being able to learn music by ear are to audiate and develop relative pitch. Hear the music in your head without needing to hear it live, and understand the different note intervals like a major third, minor third, perfect fifth, etc. It does take practice, but it's a great skill for all musicians to have.
Love the charvel Ola! Your videos make it so much easier to deal with covid running through my hole house ( my five year old and myself… praying the wife and two other kids stay safe) thank you Ola!
Ola! Totally agree with your reasoning! Family first. I love the office format Dude! You’ve done a fantastic job of putting things together for a quality show. I really appreciate all the hard work.
wow the weather behind those curtains looks so nordic.. moved to Helsinki a couple of years ago and yeah mostly grey and misserable like that with the odd nice day XD

Hey Ola.. I recently moved into a new BIG house where I had the chance to have a studio room. I just finished powering up the room and starting checking out gear video's and found your channel. So far I've watched many of your video's and I have to say they all are very informative. You sir, spell it out like it needs to be.. Hello from Alabama USA..
I agree with your decision to keep your home private, it only takes one maniac to F up everything. That being said I was also curious about the new homestead.
For anyone else curious about the studio monitors, those LYD 8 from Dynaudio are pretty damn kick ass. I went with those over the adam a7x and haven't looked back...yet. Trust your ears and stick with whatever you get long enough to listen to everything you can on them.
I dig everything you do with your channel and how you do it, keep up the great work! And BTW - that Solar G is ridiculously cool, think I need to buy one of those.

Take care and keep up your excellent work!
Q1: how many times do you find yourself recording something where in hindsight you re-record or edit it out because you think about the impact it might have according to the reach of your channel?
Hope you're doing well, Ola! Just bought my first Solar, an S1.6PPB. Looks absolutey awesome and feels fantastic. Still not completely sold on the Evertune (right off the bat I broke the high E string while trying to get to the bend spot; maybe my ears are just disfunct, but I could have sworn I was still in Zone 2 when it broke). Restrung it with 10s and managed to keep all the strings alive that time. Still, I was sweating with every turn on the high E! Anyways, the guitar overall was just too good to pass on because of the bridge, so I'll see if I can get used to it. That being said: Why on earth is a guitar looking that great not available with a basic hard tail? :D
I really feel you should give master classes in business schools to share your experience on building a sustainable and diversified business out of your passion. Would probably help a lot of people stop being obsessed by consulting companies and banking.

The Solar guitars are the best looking guitars ever . The one I got feels great too. Even where the guitar strap goes on is very comfortable. Can't wait to get me another one. Need a floyd rose solar so I can drop some dive bombs 💣.
Ola! I'd love to buy a Chug Life mug, but the shipping here to the USA costs almost as much as the mug itself. Have you considered using a USA-based company for merch orders placed in North America? Amazon has spoiled us all with free shipping.
I agree with the commenter, I also don't like Fender style headstocks (all tuners on one side) on LP style guitars. But I probably wouldn't buy the Solar LP anyways, so there's that. I prefer the strat and tele style Solars.
I kinda agree with the comment on G shaped guitar. Maybe my opinion is biased because of how we all think of Les Pauls, but it does look a little weird. It's like two different guitars glued together, it's not blending.

Man I’ve went though a lot of your videos. I’ve got many more to go. You sir have done Dime a great amount of respect and love. I’m the type of guy I stick to one person to watch on TH-cam in each genre. And my guitar guy is Rob. But after stumbling across you as I hunt down all the dime stuff i watch. You kept pulling up and popping up every time I hunt for Dime bag stuff. And I a super fan of Dime. I’m a guitar player for 27 years. I play everything from heavy metal to blue. My birthday is in August also. Mine is the 2nd. Just minus the 0 lol. But I’m a fan dude. You’re doing an awesome job and I’m subbed. I will just have to have two guitar channels

FAQ: Hi Ola, the new A1.7BOP-FF looks awesome, always wanted an extended range fanfret, but are there plans to make an 8 string version anytime soon? Would be an instant buy for me.
All cool. Anyone should keep out their kids from the internet. That’s smart. Good for you, but more important - good for them. Btw I love the headstock.
Not venturing into the Recording OB and monitor kit is the smartest thing I've heard you say. It's a very unnecessary rabbit-hole and I had major GAS for years, so know from first hand experince lol. After so many years, I finally got off the crack pipe. Guys, most of all the great outboard gear you see advertised in the end is redundant from brand A ~ Z. The degrees of separation are so minimal that most people won't hear if it's Neve Vs API for e.g. blah blah blah.. Get good kit, for sure! but don't sweat the need for a million "flavours" - - that term is such a cliche. You want to add a new flavour in the mix? Plugins. EzPz.. Just get a great sound goin IN and the rest is gravy. Like you I have Dynaudio BM5A MKI (the originals) and I don't need monitors. I've used these for 12 yrs and ain't hankering for anything new - and as a working AE back in the day, I've used most of the usual suspects out there from UREI mains to Barefoot MM27s when they first dropped. Everyday on Genelec 8040s (and 8020s for mobile gigs) for 4yrs as well as 1032a's in the past. I never sweat the monitors. Just would bring music I was familiar with but I highly recommend the BM5As as they can be had for a great deal used and are rock solid.
You said it, its only my opinion, however, a symetric solar looking headstock (3r/3l) would kick so much @§§! ;) keep up the great work! You're DA DUDE!
Ola! Do you think you'll be doing any more videos or songs with Keith Merrow? You two are my favorite guitarists and what got me into making music and videos. I miss the "Brola" days when you guys would collab.
FAQ: I recently got into books again and was curious if you have any specific books you read/are reading or even if you enjoy reading. Right now I'm reading Yukio Mishima (as recommended to me).
@ola It would be a sweet video to see you take the guitar you love the most from a pure sound perspective and move that guitars pickup to the the guitar you like the least 😉
yeah they sound really balanced and just like a studio monitor should :) not too much low end on the smaller model but they do the job. One should also not rely on 1 pair of speakers as a song needs to be tested on many speaker systems to see how the song works.
FAQ!! Ola, do you ever go through phases of not liking anything you play? I find it difficult in recent times to keep playing and enjoy it. I just wonder what you do to overcome any challenges with your playing if you have any? Love your videos!! 🤘
You could do a few one-off model G's with a more traditional LP headstock, though. Doubt it'd be a problem to sell them. Just saying. And yeah, pickup review should be a series.
FAQ: Hi Ola hope your are doing well , out of the "will it chug" series what piece of hardware surprised you the most, and was they're anything that disappointed or didn't chug as much as you would have expected it to
I really want to support solar, I love the designs and have heard so many really good things, I realllly really hope there's a headless multiscale solar eventually
I think it’s impossible to have an Evertune on a headless guitar, because you set the string tension on the bridge with a headless, but you can’t set the string tension on the bridge with an Evertune, because the Evertune is already setting everything else on the bridge. Evertune has to use the headstock tuners to set the tension. Also, with Evertune, it defeats the whole purpose of having multiscale, because multiscale is designed to have lower string tension on the high strings and high string tension on the low strings. Evertune is designed so that you can set the string tension for each individual string, so Multiscale on an Evertune equipped guitar is superfluous.
FAQ:Differences from your view dialing a tone between active and passive pickups, I'm used to actives, and is a freaking nightmare when I try to get a good tone in passives, despite brand or model, passives are a different thing...
FAQ: Why did you opt to have the jack input in the lower horn of the Type V guitars? I love my V1.6 FRC but I find when playing live and moving about I'm more prone to catching the cable on my legs than on guitars with the input on the upper horn.
Have a great day guys!
You to Ola!

Much respect for keeping your home and family private.
Kudos for dem timestamps!
The headstock on the G shape is amazing. It makes that shape of guitar stand out in the absolute ocean of LP style guitars.

Goodmorning Ola! Love the content you put on your channel. Keep it up!! Rock on always!
Bought a pair of Behringer B3030A a while ago because of you and I love those.
You're the king of guitar channels and I watch like ten or so
Amen on the private family stuff...we dont need to know, and I bet everyone understands
Love my LSR305's. They're really clear with a pretty flat response. They also provide an excellent sound stage.
So nice to see Henrik Danhage's signature Charvel in the video. Both Henrik and his guitar model deserve more attention!
Smart, not showing your personal home. At the same time I'd like to see more of Sweden in general! 😃

3:00 love the reverse headstock but I do agree with the question, it looks out of place with the les paul body.
I didn’t want a Solar G until you held that one up. Now it’s all I can think about.
this charvel sounds amazing !!
The Solar headstock reminds me of an 80s brand called "Series 10" headstocks. It looks good. Not quite Jackson, but not quite Washburn.
I fully get the privacy thing and support that but the cart needs to come to the office then.
I like that the headstocks are reversed, just not the pointy-ness of them. I'm also just another asshole on the internet with an opinion, so there's that

FAQ! Ola! That new 29" scale baritone looks great. Can it handle a set of bass VI strings so I could tune it E-E in the bass octave?
G shape makes the LP style look like metal dagger!!!
You could do a few one-off model G's with a more traditional LP headstock, though. Doubt it'd be a problem to sell them. Just saying.
And yeah, pickup review should be a series.
FAQ: Ola what is your favourite Swedish food and a good place to eat it in Malmö, also do you sell your used demo gear?
Love the tone😀❤sicc💥💥
FAQ: Hi Ola hope your are doing well , out of the "will it chug" series what piece of hardware surprised you the most, and was they're anything that disappointed or didn't chug as much as you would have expected it to
Your Strat is the "uncle that played in a band in the 70s" to Henrik's Charvel. haha
