Lead singer for FYC, Roland Gift, is an amazing front man and vocals. Check out another song by FYC "Suspicious Minds" with background vocals by Jimmy Somerville (Bronski Beat and Communards fame).

Wow! Worked in Canada for a year 88-89 and this was me and my canandian boyfriends song!! Loved it ever since!! After that I came back to my home in Sweden and stayed here...But when ever I hear this song I'm back in my youth again!!!
By the way found my old boyfriend on Facebook a couple of years ago and it was so fun!!!❤❤

Lead singer Roland Gift portrayed recurring villain Xavier St. Cloud in the Highlander TV series.
    Very talented singer and actor.

In the eighties Britain's mainstream culture was going through a process of change, it was becoming more cosmopolitan, and the FYC's fitted right in with that with their unique and different mixed race front man Roland Gift; he was even named in People magazine as "one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world. On one level their songs are pop but they were quite suitable to be played in the burgeoning wine bar and bistro places, especially the song "Good Thing."

Saw Roland Gift live last year at Rewind, which is one of the 80s festivals in UK. He was great. My favorite song is Good Thing

The music video was directed by Philippe DeCoufle, who made only one other music video, for New Order's "True Faith". Both contained a similar asthetic: dance cheography and characters wearing bizarre costumes. Also, the dancers in both videos look like they're fighting.

You know when I saw the video and the people dressed in those bright coloured puffed out outfits I immediately thought of the True Faith video by New Order, another great song written checking out. The fighting in both videos are also not really proper fighting, like what you'd see in a circus between clowns or something like that!!!

Lol I was gonna mention the New Order video when he said the video was weird or wild. I was like...well that was the 80s and you should have seen what they did with New Order's vid (I couldn't remember the song though). Idk they were directed by the same person though, a lot makes sense now.

There is no official video of it, but he did perform it live (kinda) at the MTV awards; check out Michael Jackson's Dangerous and listen if it has something familiar after listening to this song (and yes, it was deliberate).

"I'm not the man I used to be", "Johnny come home" are one of my favorites of theirs. This came up in one of Columbo's episodes in '89.😊
