Indian-Origin Lady Doctor Makes UK Television History Dancing to Bollywood Song

A Scottish Indian doctor has made history in the UK by performing the first-ever Bollywood dance on one of the country's most popular TV shows, "Strictly Come Dancing." Dr. Punam Krishan, a doctor and author, danced to the famous Bollywood song 'Bole Chudiyan' from the movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, making her the first Indian to bring Bollywood to the show in its 20-year history.
Dr. Krishan, who proudly calls herself a 'Glajabi'-a mix of Glasgow-born and Punjabi-was very emotional after her performance. She spoke about her family’s journey from Punjab to Scotland, remembering how they started with very little. Tearing up, she said, "It meant everything to me. I felt like I was connecting with my younger self, the four-year-old me who would have loved to see something like this growing up. You can't be what you can't see." She dedicated her dance to her grandfather, who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic.
