As promised I bought the "new" version of the ES03S(I'll call this v2) and here are my results. I ordered the "deluxe" kit for about $6 more which I think is a good deal It came with some Chinese paper manual with no numbers on it, a USB-A charger(500mAh), a lanyard, an impressive 18350 cell, a spare O-ring, small pot of lithium grease for the threads and a reversible belt clip which is too large for the unit which I'm guessing comes from the 18650 sized E03. The belt clip if put on in such a way that you can put it on the brim of your hat ie lens up it almost fits on there flush. Or you can have it flush if you put it in the groove machined where the cooling fins are. I left it off as it went on my keychain. If you put the clip the other way around you could use it to physically block the button if rotated around if you wanted a manual safety but it has a lockout feature so why bother but its there if you want it. The v2 unit itself is exactly the same as the v1 with one exception. The last cooling fin closest to the base has been machined off to give the user a convenient little nook to stick his index finger in so it stays away from the head of the unit and provide a slightly better grip. At first I though it was a manufacturing defect, but you can still see the faint outlines of the original machining for the cooling fin so it's been purposely done. The UI itself has been updated and now includes pre-set steps in addition to the normal ramping modes all with memory which is a nice touch. Quick click will get you pre-sets in 30-150-350-700 lumens. Holding down for .5 secs will shut it off. The other ramping and turbo modes work the same as the v1 model. If you notice the highest setting is now rated at 700 instead of 850 with v1. Whether this is true or not is unknown. It's at least as bright if not slightly brighter as my ANSI rated Rovyvon 700 lumen light so it's close. It's possible they reduced the max ramp/max set lumens down a touch because people were complaining about grill marks on their balls or they wanted to increase the run times slightly. The 3000 lumens turbo works just fine. What I like to do is set the quick pre-set to the medium setting(350 lumens) which even after an hour with no active cooling was pleasantly warm so it can basically run until dry and leave the ramping mode to the lowest so I can adjust it up or down as necessary. Yes it remembers where you left it in both modes which is nice. Which also is nice is the 18350 "Hibatt" 1300mAh marked battery it came with which got an impressive 1152 mAh true out of it. Most 18350's get around 800-1000mAh so this gave the 20350 1400mAh marked battery (1258mAh true) I have a run for it's money. Wow. It also fits in there no problem even with shaking around as the spring holds it very tightly in there. All in all still an impressive keychain flashlight even if it has a slightly lowered claimed max ramp/pre-set.(unknown may still be 850, it's up there. Max/Low ramp seems ever so slightly dimmer on low and ever so brighter than pre-set "high"). Edit: Run times for max ramp is about 5 minutes lower runtimes(43min) than pre-set high so it's definitely pulling a little more current. My guess is the ramping is basically the same as the original(850lm) they've just added some convenient stepping in there. Here are the run times for claimed high and medium pre-set: High (700 lm) and turbo(3000 lm): 20350: "Recovery" Marked 1400 Mah battery 5.18 Wh 1258 Ma true capacity to 2.8v @500mAh draw Claimed 41 mins max runtime. 47 mins low voltage beam flash 48 mins cut at 2.8v + 3 mins more runtime than 18350 45 secs room temperature step down to high from turbo The 5 secs more runtime could be the slightly larger battery acts as a heat sink and wicks away the heat better. 18350 that came with the flashlight: "Hibatt" Marked 1300 Mah battery 4.81 Wh 1152 Ma true capacity to 2.8v @500mAh draw 44 mins low voltage beam flash 45 mins cutoff at 2.8v 40 secs room temperature step down to high from turbo Medium(350 Lm) Claimed 1.5hr max runtime 1:35 pm start 18350 "Hibatt" battery it came with. battery low voltage flash 3:09 3:10 shut off 1hr 35m runtime 2:02am start 20350 "Recovery" battery 3:44am low voltage flash 3:45am shut off 1hr 44m +9 mins more runtime than 18350 P.S Be advised the thermal throttling only works for the turbo and not the other modes so keep an eye on the heat on the high setting or it will grill your balls. I cannot be held responsible for any ball grilling due to misuse of this product. Also I noticed that the turbo runtimes outside, while not timed, seemed longer in 13C ambient with a light breeze which will probably get you closer to the 1 min+ runtime on turbo. 20350 Cells can usually be sourced at Vape stores.

I found out what that machined groove is for it's for the belt clip but it's so tightly held on there I marred the paint a bit taking it off so you'd better be sure you really want it on there. It's pretty compact so it's better as a keychain light really.
It's been long since I want another flashlight... this little thing is the pocket rocket I looking for! Love my Emisar D4 with short tube but this thing is perfect for keychain light!

I just got mine through the post using the link FLASHAHOLIC provided. I couldn't be happier with it. I got the free battery and they even threw in a lanyard which they didn't have to do. This is way superior to the Nitecore T4K and less than half the price.

Ended up getting one off Amazon. It's quite a beast. The color temperature is crisp. Comparing it to the manker E14iii. I carry both, the amutorch is a good keychain light. Just go find the cells are tricky but I manage.
Shorter for sure, but looks wider! I like how this one has ramping. LD70 was almost perfect if it only came in neutral white and also had ramping. Seems like T1R performs better than just a reflector which is good for more throw. My LD70 is all flood, can't see things in the distance even with all 4k lumens.
Optiblue This channel made me aware of the importance of the reflector. Ideally (imo) you want a floodlight with throw in the middle. The E3S seem to have that.

I nearly did and the epic E14 III but I really wanted to show just how much brighter the tiny E3S is over other more widely available micro EDC lights. The E3S certainly performs better than the much longer D4V2 stubby in Lumen, candela, and turbo runtime and can take a higher capacity cell. They will both feature together in future comparisons though I'm sure!
I would immediately buy it if it had an charging port which is a MUST HAVE for all day carry light because you don't have the charger all the time with you for the battery but a micro USB or a micro usb cable and charger is everywhere
I bought the smiling shark version and it still has the nice output but it's not as good. Cuts down to high after 22 seconds not over a minute with the amutorch. Also it has worse cooling due to the more slimline design. By the way were you able to find your cat? I know this is not the brightest keychain flashlight. I gave as a present the smiling shark to my friend and I ordered the original which comes with more cooling fins which also keeps your hand farther away from the hot spots. If I duct taped two of these to my head and went for a bike ride, you wouldn't think it was weird would you?
@@50amn Well it really up to you. I got an e3S which is the "updated" version which adds steps starting from 30 lumens up to 700. What are your parameters? Trust me once you put it on the 3000 lumen setting you'll feel like you're napalmed. It's really up to your choice.
@@50amn Well it depends on what you want. For example. I have the "new" (upgraded?) version of the E3S which has proper stepping and is in a 5000K neutral white range which I like because yes, it does have a few fewer lumens, however the colour range is a lot better. Especially on the lower settings. It's not as "washed out" with a 6500K range. So it's really up to you which you decide. Do you want a more "natural" light or do you want max lumens? The choice is yours. Just try if you are able, to specify which colour range that is most applicable to your needs. Lower is "yellower" higher is "whiter". Personally, I like a more neutral range say around the 5000K level, however that may not be suitable for your needs. Maybe I'll do a quick video demonstrating the colour levels if you wish. I just recently aquired some new COB(chip on board) LED lights I was going to review, so I can throw it into the video if you wish.

Lass who lives at Vanhalla asked me if I thought it was a little bit creepy shining a torch behind people's houses when I passed her the other night. I just told her I was filming my torches which probably made it even creepier for her.
Can you recommend a flashlight that are similar or a lil bit larger to e3s size but the brightness is almost the same? Because i love mini edc flashlight. I just got nitecore tup and s2+ with 18350 tube. And now i want to add another flashlight
The size and power is awesome. The non standard available batteries and short run time makes it useless for any real practical use and expensive to use and will be difficult to find batteries for. Because of the battery, this flashlight is a novelty or for very brief use only. And the hard to find battery essentially makes this a disposable flashlight in a very short time because you can't find replacement batteries. And Mickey Mousing an alternate battery that is also not commonly available is clever, but not the ideal answer which brings me back to easily obtainable common batteries.
@@FLASHAHOLIC_TV yeah, but still not your common battery you can grab from a store. You have to order them and wait and likely pay shipping in top and they aren't cheap and you will go through them quickly if you use the flashlight a lot. If it is just for emergency use or occasional short use then I guess it won't be that big of a deal. Also everyone has their own reasons. Everything has pros and cons. Larger battery means larger flashlight, I get it. I'm just saying a flashlight that doesn't use standard widely available batteries you can grab anywhere can leave you in the dark. (pun intended).😁 But I guess you wouldn't be using this for camping and just for your keychain, glovebox or purse or something like that.
@@bubbalo3388 no lithium ion battery is common in a store, vape shops sell them at an extortionate price. A lot of trusted ebay/online battery sellers offer free or very cheap postage as these cells don't require large packaging. I can get fogstar.Co.Uk batteries in a couple of days.
They only list 6500k and batery type is not an option on link above. Also doesn't seem to allow multiples in one order. Want to gift one.. Anyone have any ideas? Have been scammed recently so looking for verification. Thanks!
Yep, I feel the same way. I don't like things with non standard batteries or built in rechargeable batteries and i try to avoid them if there are other options that use common battery sizes like AA, AAA, C's, etc. I can walk into a store and buy these sizes or get rechargeables and use those batteries in other electronics also. And for a flashlight especially, you want to be able to have access to readily available batteries. But if it is just for a keychain light and light occasional use then maybe, but for emergency or heavier use then no.

@@pizzadave9812 CW tends to be about 5% brighter, but sometimes NW measures more than CW I've found. I guess LED quality varies.

I would immediately buy it if it had an charging port which is a MUST HAVE for all day carry light because you don't have the charger all the time with you for the battery but a micro USB or a micro usb cable and charger is everywhere

I bought the smiling shark version and it still has the nice output but it's not as good. Cuts down to high after 22 seconds not over a minute with the amutorch. Also it has worse cooling due to the more slimline design. By the way were you able to find your cat? I know this is not the brightest keychain flashlight. I gave as a present the smiling shark to my friend and I ordered the original which comes with more cooling fins which also keeps your hand farther away from the hot spots. If I duct taped two of these to my head and went for a bike ride, you wouldn't think it was weird would you?

@@50amn Well it really up to you. I got an e3S which is the "updated" version which adds steps starting from 30 lumens up to 700. What are your parameters? Trust me once you put it on the 3000 lumen setting you'll feel like you're napalmed. It's really up to your choice.

@@50amn Well it depends on what you want. For example. I have the "new" (upgraded?) version of the E3S which has proper stepping and is in a 5000K neutral white range which I like because yes, it does have a few fewer lumens, however the colour range is a lot better. Especially on the lower settings. It's not as "washed out" with a 6500K range. So it's really up to you which you decide. Do you want a more "natural" light or do you want max lumens? The choice is yours. Just try if you are able, to specify which colour range that is most applicable to your needs. Lower is "yellower" higher is "whiter". Personally, I like a more neutral range say around the 5000K level, however that may not be suitable for your needs. Maybe I'll do a quick video demonstrating the colour levels if you wish. I just recently aquired some new COB(chip on board) LED lights I was going to review, so I can throw it into the video if you wish.

I prefer the E14 III of the three. But they are all good. FW has the best UI and E3S can be used as keychain light.

The size and power is awesome. The non standard available batteries and short run time makes it useless for any real practical use and expensive to use and will be difficult to find batteries for. Because of the battery, this flashlight is a novelty or for very brief use only. And the hard to find battery essentially makes this a disposable flashlight in a very short time because you can't find replacement batteries. And Mickey Mousing an alternate battery that is also not commonly available is clever, but not the ideal answer which brings me back to easily obtainable common batteries.
Just stick an 18350 in it and ☺

You have to order them and wait and likely pay shipping in top and they aren't cheap and you will go through them quickly if you use the flashlight a lot. If it is just for emergency use or occasional short use then I guess it won't be that big of a deal. Also everyone has their own reasons. Everything has pros and cons. Larger battery means larger flashlight, I get it. I'm just saying a flashlight that doesn't use standard widely available batteries you can grab anywhere can leave you in the dark. (pun intended).😁 But I guess you wouldn't be using this for camping and just for your keychain, glovebox or purse or something like that.
@@bubbalo3388 no lithium ion battery is common in a store, vape shops sell them at an extortionate price. A lot of trusted ebay/online battery sellers offer free or very cheap postage as these cells don't require large packaging. I can get fogstar.Co.Uk batteries in a couple of days.

Yep, I feel the same way. I don't like things with non standard batteries or built in rechargeable batteries and i try to avoid them if there are other options that use common battery sizes like AA, AAA, C's, etc. I can walk into a store and buy these sizes or get rechargeables and use those batteries in other electronics also. And for a flashlight especially, you want to be able to have access to readily available batteries. But if it is just for a keychain light and light occasional use then maybe, but for emergency or heavier use then no.
