I saved all my money I made on ebay for spending money on my Hawaii 25th wedding anniversary celebration trip. I earned enough plus I will have extra. It has been so fun to see my bank account grow every month as my sales money gets deposited. Not to mention I love reselling. I have depression and this has helped give me a purpose and keep me busy and be happy. Kevin you helped me get the nerve to try reselling. Next month while I am lying on the beach sipping a cocktail it will make me so proud of the leap of faith that I took. Thank you Kevin for helping me to get to my happy place. Julie 🙂

Good video today. I know things aren't supposed to be super important, but I've enjoyed my knick knacks and toys over the years. Now that I'm 72 I'm getting ready to clear out my belongings before my kids have to. It's marvelous that there are such good ways to find a loving home for my dear possessions.

I have been going to garage sale, auctions and whatever, looking for treasures in the junk, for probably about 60 years (since I was a child), and when ebay came along it was a miracle - I could never leave behind a bargain, but NOW, I can buy any fabulous bargain I find because I can resell it and make a profit. People who are too young to remember before the internet don't realize how hard it was to come up with side hustles, or how hard it was to liquidate your items if you needed money.

I've been a reseller since 2003, full time since 2009. The game is not getting better and better. It's getting worse and worse and most people will agree with me. Fees have gone up, buyers have becoming more demanding (and more and more scammy), sourcing has become more difficult, competition has become more intense as more and more people get into the game, shipping costs go up every year, and the platforms have become more demanding (sometimes unreasonably so). Even with the challenges, Ebay is still the best platform to sell. I hope it continues to be a viable platform. Keep up the good work.. Glad you guys are on our side.

I love being a reseller! I have a brick & mortar vintage / antique /clothing store called Southern Market, in Blackshear, Ga and I also sell on ebay.
Instead of taking a vacation to places like Disney, etc, I go on vacation to thrift or yard sale. I then take the merchandise I buy and sell at my store or ebay and make back way more money than I spent on my "vacation"🙌

Great video! I’m a solo mom and selling on eBay gives me the opportunity to do a side hustle while working at home. I source alot online and I have my garage as my eBay cave. I’ve also been able to fund vacations and summer camp with my side hustle.
On a side note, I minored in history in college and I still watch history docs. I’m hoping someday we can get ‘The Commonwealth Flipper History Lesson’ TH-cam Channel! I would totally watch!

I lost my job at the end of 2020. Lucky enough to find a job relatively quickly but for half the pay. I started reselling to supplement that income difference. I wouldn't have made it if I didn't have that opportunity to resell. Now I have a better job and still resell and am providing for my family and banking retirement income. I consider myself lucky to have eBay, and selling platforms, and my customers to have made it through the most difficult financial time of my life.

We have been part time resellers for over a year. I’m a military retiree, and it’s been a nice option for earning some cash. My wife loves the thrifting / prospecting aspect, and my background in logistics and operations keeps us running efficiently. It’s nice to have something we enjoy doing together, and it puts extra cash in our pocket. I’ve thought about going back to work, but I prefer being “self-employed”. I’m sure I could make more per hour working for someone else, but some of my “paid” hours as a reseller are sitting on my couch, sipping a cold beverage while listing items, and watching the sales roll in. Not a bad way to make money! Thanks for sharing your insights!

Teaching burned me out after 15 years, especially after leaving WI and moving to NC: come in early, serve breakfast, give up your lunch hour, stay after for bus duty, all for no extra pay. In WI those were all paid extras, andmy salary was 20K more. Plus, as a special ed teacher, there was so much paperwork to do after hours that my kids were being neglected, especially my son with Down syndrome. He really needed me at night (husband works nights). I was already doing ebay part time and full time in summer, and was just tired of teaching. It was no longer fun. Now I make my own schedule, work when I can, and don't have to answer to anyone, don't have to make sub plans, don't have to get hounded about standardized test scores, and so on. In March it'll be 20 years of ebay selling, with the last 11 being full time.. Sales are slow lately and it' discouraging, but not enough to go back to the classroom!

No one is forced to sell on E Bay. It is an opportunity to make extra money or even a full income. There is other ways to make extra money, but E Bay in my opinion is more fun. People will always be negative towards other peoples way of making money, especially when they are not willing to put in the effort to make it work for them. Thanks Kevin for shedding light on how great E Bay can be!!

WHY WOULD ANYONE SELL ON EBAY?
Why would barber cut hair for $15?
Why would Uber drivers, drive for $10 a ride?
Why would coffee shops sell coffee for $4?
What would dollar tree sell stuff for $1…….?????????
Most jobs and professions pay little at a time, but with hard work and perseverance, the repetition of sells make the world go around and even make people rich, it’s all about each individual making it work for themselves! You are the best Kevin and great inspiration.

I’ve tried all that stuff except a thrift store and margins are so low on everything but online sales that it wasn’t viable full time for me. I’m in a smaller area so that could be it but it’s a tourist area where the population grows by 400% or more summer and my antique booth was packed with great items at about 40% of eBay prices and sold enough to pay the $89 monthly rent plus making around $200 a week on a good week. If eBay and Amazon went down I’d be screwed lol.

One of the things I love most about selling on eBay is when a special item is bought by someone who I know will really enjoy it. I recently sold an Edward H. I work full time (school year) as a school administrative assistant/office manager, I am 73 (!!) and am thinking about retiring soon. I would like to "go through the house" as you and your sweet wife did sometime back and sell things so my husband and I can move into a smaller/more senior friendly place. As you can imagine, we have accumulated a massive amount of vintage & antique items. We have three grown children who collected all sorts of collectibles as they grew to adulthood. Then, they left their "stuff" with me and Dad. I just don't know if I have the get-up-and-go stamina to set up a reselling shop. Anyhoo...wondering if you or other resellers have considered going into a partnership of sorts with seniors (the boomers are still here!) to help sell our accumulations. If not, I will just plug along and sell as best I can. Love your videos and the valuable information you pass along. Thanks so much! Candy from San Francisco.

I resell just because I enjoy looking for retro/vintage things. I found people like you online and learned I could make a little extra cash doing something I love. I say a little because I don’t do it at your level yet. I work full time and do this as a hobby really but would love to transition to it full time one day. I prefer selling in person and did that for years but in my area that’s not as profitable anymore. I only sell on Mercari as of now because it’s so simple but I’m branching out to eBay slowly. I have been intimidated by Amazon and still really don’t know how or if I need to start there yet. Thanks so much for your great advice and wonderful content. My stuff is under some version of the name retro cult where ever I put it.

Hey Kevin, I have enjoyed your videos. Very informative, and your advice has helped me out a lot. I have been a part time reseller on eBay for 11 years. Last year my job shut down and my wife encouraged me to start selling full time. Last year was great. It's been the best thing to happen to me. I really enjoy it. But something has definitely changed over the last month. There is no live customer service to help buyers or sellers. I can't get any help at all from eBay with returns, unfair feedback or scammers. I am not sure how other reselling platforms are changing, but this can't be good for the future of eBay. I'll continue to make the best of it but now I am starting to rethink what my next move will be. I hope eBay rethinks this new process. My goal this year is to definitely try another resell site. Anyway, thanks for your content!

When people talk down reselling, I agree with them. If they don't realize the possibilities, they may just not have what it takes to do it Well. It is like being an influencer, you tuber, etc .. generally, people who are good at it rise to the top, and only some of the best actually stay there, because they know how to shift and adapt as demands change. People who don't seem to "get it", don't want to or just don't have the strengths in the right areas to see the possibility of success, and still others don't enjoy what (all or parts of) the job entails. Some people hate shopping which is how many get inventory, and even many resellers who are highly successful hate listing, photographing, etc. I love it all, personally. I just consider myself, and others like me, lucky.

I do some print on demand stuff that I sell on etsy. I put almost no time into it, so I only make about $700-$1,000 a year on it. I don't think it would ever replace my ebay sales even if I put a bunch of time into it. But it is nice to have that little extra. I also put some of my old lesson plans and worksheets that I made on Teachers Pay Teachers, and that makes even less, but since I already had them, it was easy to upload them and make a little extra cash with them too.

Daughter and I have figured out how to resize boxes that are too big. We can also make boxes out of cardboard, if need be. Clerk at the PO is constantly amazed. Figure it out, it doesn't take that long. Resizing boxes can help with shipping weight. I've been doing Ebay since 2001. 10-15 years ago, it was INSANE. Then USPS prices went overboard & many of my regulars had to stop buying from me. These days, I'm selling more personal stuff, many of my collections, vintage stuff from my in laws. I sell to save up for my house taxes & insurance, new tires on my car, and to purge all the crap in my house and garage that is NOT bringing me joy. Thanks for all your help!

#1 reason we sell on eBay? My wife and I have "buying disorder." We just love finding deals. It's either resell our finds, or become hoarders. We would rather not be hoarders, so we resell. Ebay is a platform where a lot of different stuff can be sold. I've been selling on ebay for 24 years. eBay has been a nice side hustle, really don't need the $$, just need to find homes for the stuff we pick up. We typically sell items at at least 10X what we paid for the items. Some items have been terrific scores. The more you know, the more scores you will find. 99% + of the buyers I have gotten have been reasonable. As many bail out on eBay, thats good news for those of us that continue to sell there. Been selling a lot of books lately. Yes, it can take a while to sell them, but the markup is really great. My favorite part of the process is finding something I don't need and getting it into the hands of someone who wants it. On side hustles, I used to buy/repair/resell bicycles. I was selling at least 50 bikes per year. Made more money on bikes than I did on ebay.

My husband and I have done "side hustles" our whole 25 year marriage and it really started in college. I lived in Chicago and did coat checking for a guy that had contracts at several hotels, House of Blues, event centers. It was great, instant money for poor college kids. My husband started refereeing rec league about the same time. Eventually we moved back to the west coast. Fast forward to now, he still referees football (college) and basketball. I've done several other side gigs over the years (making/selling on Etsy, doing inventory, Door Dash/Shipt, web design). Now I'm reselling on Ebay, etc. and really enjoying it so far. There's no shame in a side hustle.

When I was working full time in manufacturing, I had two side businesses. I had a booth at a local antique mall. I had that for 8 years with my husband. The antique mall closed last year and that's when I went to EBAY full time. I also had a craft business where I did craft shows for 10 years. Crochet and baby gifts. I put that on hold in 2020.
Depending on the antique mall and location, it can be a worth while side job. I had one year i was working my full time drafter job, had both of my side businesses and worked at a friends toy store every Saturday! One year of that was all my husband could take! 😂As he picked up the slack for the antique booth!

I work full time earn pretty good money, but after you fork out for mortgage payments, bills, food etc doesn't leave you much, so selling on Ebay as my side hustle to earn extra income, I've purchased a nice new car and we've gone on fantastic overseas holidays. Thank you Ebay!

I’m started selling on eBay because I bid on a storage unit and won it and needed an outlet to sell the stuff, three months later I’m hooked. My wife and I go thrifting once a week and I am averaging three sales a day. It’s brought us closer together working towards the same goals.

eBay is helping me be picky about my next day job. I’m not going high on the hog, but I’m not starving either. I think a lot of the people who poopoo it like in those comments are either in a very expensive area and maybe it’s not worth it or they are young and have not had to live and are just tossing stuff out in the void. It’s nice when you go for an interview and they ask about your current employer and you can toot your own horn. Credit to me isn’t bad you have to use it in business but you have to be aware of your use. My bosses for most of the last decade were addicted to credit they had more notes almost than employees. I have always been a scrapper it’s unfortunately not a full time thing but it is a good way to make money off of products that you bought to resell that didn’t work and are too heavy to sell for parts. I also scrap gold from computers because people just tend to give me their old ones. When I was a kid though I had my best/worst business idea a neighbor kid and I would wander around catch snakes. We would take a bag down to the local store and try to sell them to people. We did sell a few but usually people ran the hell away. I also helped my grandparents pull moss and other plants from the woods to sell which if you have gensing in your area I would recommend doing as it’s very good money and exercise.

One thing I've learned selling many years, if you sell unique items like thrift finds your ok, single items on the gone. But if you buy say a 1000 items try to repeat sale, competitors will file false reports against that listing untill it's pulled.

Hi Kevin, You asked about side hustles...when I was getting out of debt, I was selling things around my house, but I also started walking dogs. I could do it on lunch break from my full time job, as well as after work. I started in May that year (I think it was 2016) and made 4K from May to December. I was a full blown dog walker until I got out of debt in 2020, then backed off a bit, and now I mainly concentrate on reselling (and do a little bit of online sales for another company) outside of my full time job, so there's an idea for people 😊🐕 Liked and shared, thanks for sharing your story and your knowledge.

My only complaint with reselling, with business in general actually is there are to many men involved. Men ruin everything, no offense just facts. Other than that, it’s still a decent way of making extra money, thought harder now because of…..well men. I’m not an advocate of reselling over conventional jobs because you will always make more money at a conventional job because people aren’t taking into account how much time and expense any business actually requires. Reselling is a great way of making extra money for sure and the “treasure hunt” aspect of it is so fun.

I started my side hustle at 12 buying craft candles in bulk at the Rose Bowl swap meet and reselling in multiple gift shops on consignment. Then moved on to selling pot to my buddies ih High School senior year, another not recommended form of reselling (only for a year as a minor) LOL. Much later as a hobby I would buy stereo equipment on ebay, enjoy it for a while, then resell it to buy something else to listen too. Over the years that occasional hobby totaled $40,000 in sales and surprised me when I found out. Started selling my personal stuff starting with my office closet contents when I became disabled and had zero income of any kind (it helped that I found a bunch of silver coins that I stashed in there and forgot about!). Now I just spend a little time doing what I can selling some on ebay and suppliment the disability income that it took 27 months and 6 denials to get.

I know what you mean about busting your tale to fix the car. Recently I passed out while driving to work. I was stoping, so my car hit the curb. I have a 2021 mustang,it messed up the wheel and things inside. I won't borrow the money, so I have been pushing my sales on ebay. I've already bought the wheel, I almost have enough for what is needed to fix it. The next things is buying the tire. It's been really hard, we are without a car. I get a ride to work, my husband rides his bike. The temp has been 20 degrees.

Beyond my regular fulltime job, I sell on eBay and I am a casino party dealer (Craps, Roulette and Blackjack dealer). No real money is involved (except tips) since Texas doesn't allow gambling in the state. I work for four different companies and make a base pay of $25-35 an hour and usually get tips on top of that. It is a great side hustle because it's actually pretty fun, you meet some nice people and I have been in a lot of great places that I never would have been to if it wasn't for dealing at these parties. Since I'm a contractor in these positions, I can write off my mileage, which usually covers a good portion of the taxes owed.
