Now there were some heavy duty well built mowers back then. All they make today is plastic and thin metal junk.

What a sweet lawnmower! My dad has two mowers, buy they are from the 1990s, so nothing special.

    Love the Wheel horse.
    I can get a 1975 C100 w/mower deck for $400..
    Runs great. 7/10 cosmetically speaking.
All original (faded). Should I keep shopping? Maybe offer $300?

The Wheel Horse has an onld school drive train that gives you much more efficiency than anything on the market today. This 12HP wheel horse will outperform much larger displacement engines that waste power through hydrostatic systems.

I have a 69 charger 12 a guy wanted to throw away, take to the dump cus he bought a small tractor.
All it needed was a battery and it runs fine. He restored it a bit in 2009 to make it operational and the girl runs good .

Personally I like the slow start, I think it's bad when people start their engines and rev it to max right off the bat. It's equivalent to waking up in the morning and instantly running around all over the place.

Zander Xymox True. When you get done checking the oil and greesing the machine as well as putting gas in the tank, you mount the tractor, pulling thd choke with the throttle off. Once she starts running, you shut your choke down, an only give it just a little gas and let the machine warm up a bit. Once fully warm, and running, then you can put into gear and go out and start increasing the throttle much more in a gradual way before engaging the power take off to cut the grass. When your done and your blades are disengaged, you shut your throttle way down, allow the machine to run for a half of minute, or a minute, then turn the ingition off. Easier on the machine, and you'll get yet many years of use of it in the future. Take care of the machine, and it will take care of you.

I don't think I've ever seen a Wheel Horse with a fuel shutoff on the side like that... What gives there? They're usually attached right to the fuel tank, stuck into the rubber tank bushing on the bottom.

Mike Eyre mine has the exact same shut off

Jkftw Katt it makes sense, more so than hiding it under the gas tank. I wish mine was like that...
