    I read the end of the book and now I'm reading the beginning. Wes, I've come back in time to tell you the injector set is the way to go! Oh and the intake gasket, make sure it actually fits. I've gota go, the time police are right behind me. Thank you for sharing!

    Great STC & Valve set procedure info and video but, Wes take it from an actual Cummins tech. Though they may look damn near identical, the L10 & M11 are two different same design engines. If memory serves the L10 is a 10.2L engine and the M11 is a 10.8L engine, this means injectors, cam, rods, pistons, liners and head aren’t all identical parts. AWESOME, engine though and good to see another young guy around my age wrenching on these old L10/M11, 855/N14 and K19 series STC engines!!!!!!!! Oh just a hint, check the STC Valve and injectors, the STC Check Valve & the injector Check Valves are known to get stuck or stick periodically!

    Instead of going straight to running a rack, if I want find an injector quick, if the engine is cold. Thermo gun the exhaust manifold at each port from the head. You'll see the difference in the temp. Less than 30 seconds of running you'll know if you got one. Typically 5-6 in my experience. Of course they must be in the hardest spot of reach.

    I'm changing an exhaust manifold on a 1992 5.9 Cummins today. 5 bolts broke and I have 3 out now. Just two more. Not my favorite job. Take care. Looks like you'll have it running perfect soon.

      Much easier on an inline 6 than any V engine. V10 Dodges are probably the worst to get out. Much easier if you have a lift.

    Hi wez I have a Cummins l10 and I use it as a power Pak to drive a mobile mill would these settings be the same my engine is doing the same as yours I had new injectors two years ago because of white smoke but it still kept white smoking thanks

    Incase engine ism 370 locked up doing the first overhead set 1-A and locking up trying to go to 5-B what is the most common problem. Reason I ask is because i installed new injectors and did everything from gaping the rocker arms to .020 mm to tighting all the pedalstals to 45 inch lbs and final torque to 90ftlbs with the gap of .020 mm between the rocker levers and the pedistals. The engine keeps locking up can you help?

    Is the procedure the same on a big cam with Stc injectors?

      The procedure is the same for any Cummins with top stop style injectors. They did make STC engines with non top stop injectors, so you have to look at the injectors to know. The other injectors look a lot different where the connector link sits on the top. As far as I know the valve lash amounts are the same from all Cummins engines since the dawn of time.

    Is the M11 a good engine? I’ve heard they’re about a 400-500K mile engine. Some have stud girdles and some don’t. I’ve been looking at a M11 equipped coach but have no experience with the M11.

      I think so. They made a lot of them. I think the L10 came out in the late 1970s. The L10 basically became the M11 (same engine really, just a longer stroke). The M11 became the ISM. That ran until just a few years ago when they switched to the ISX Economy or whatever they call their smaller truck engine now. 400-500K miles is pretty good for a vocational engine. The 14 liter engines last longer because they are in over the road trucks that run 70 mph all day long. It's not a fair comparison.

    No better sound than an l10 with a straight exhaust.Does the same work as a big engine,just not as fast.Trucking 35years,mechanical engine is always better.

      No. I don't think Cummins made many of them before switching to the M11 Celect. But I might have something in a service manual.

      It should be the same on the valves. The injector are probably different since it runs on natural gas.

      Most use the Outter Base Circle method. It's roughly the same process, but you set the injectors when they are at full stroke using a small torque wrench. You should sign up for a Cummins Quickserve account. It's free up to 5 serial numbers.
