Imo , this is how you ALMOST make people forget that this was sung by two of the greatest singers in music history, Diana Ross and Lionel Ritchie, you put Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey together and the rest is music history! They are performing at the Royal Albert Hall. Everything about it is iconic ❤ it was 94. And then after 25 years without singing that song, she performed again at the same place during her tour. It was so unbelievable! Legend.

Oh and to add, you commented on Luther’s outfit, if I remember right, when I he arrived in London for the tour I think his usual concert outfits were lost or left behind by the airline or travel company, so he had to make up something. This is from the whole concert video that was released I remember him explaining that. It was an amazing concert (with Mariah being icing on the cake, kudos for fans who got to see that in person, wow!) and it was different to see Luther not in his usual sequined suits on stage.(and yes he had a history of always being hot and sweaty on stage , but he still always gave you top level entertainment.)

The meaning and feeling of the song is there in a way that it isn’t in the original. I’m a HUGE Lamb so I may be biased 🤣 I don’t care! These are God-given voices for sure.

I don’t think that at all, imo I think Luther just wanted to be known for his velvet vocals and music , he wanted to keep his private life out of the spotlight. A lot of people wanted to know , but he would not entertain the questions, it wasn’t like his record company or anyone else made him not talk about it.

This was the first time Mariah ever performed at a concert in the uk. I saw her at the same venue in 2019 and she was amazing.
