Aaliyah was one of those few artists that simply had her own lane, her own vibe, her own style. She was unique in so many ways. I only wish we would have had another decade with her before God called her home. RIP queen Aaliyah

    Aaliyah’s head voice >>>>>
I don’t even think she had a chance to reach her peak, vocally. She was so young.

Aaliyah actually had an almost 4 octave spanning vocal range. she had a really strong, resonant voice but preferred to sing with raised larynx or in falsetto for stylistic choices. there are some songs and live performances where she's blowing like the 90's diva.
(such as The One I Gave My Heart to, I Care 4 U, Givin' Up, Street Thing, Journey to the Past,Never Givin' Up..)

Aaliyah actually had a great voice, she just chose to sing in this laid back cool smooth style, but there’s a couple of ballads that showed what she was capable of vocally. I believe she would’ve eventually started showing off that side of her voice more and really grew into being recognized as a vocalist vocalist. Just my theory.

This song was so ahead of its time ! You should react to “the one I gave my heart to “ . That’s such a great song

Jack you really need to react to “I Can Be, Read Between The Lines & I Refuse on her last album. Those tracks are huge & different production wise & vocally. I Can Be could also be considered controversial. That album was produced by keybeats & a couple others. Some of her best work isn’t even with tim.

I was born like a month after she passed and it sucks that I was not even alive when she was still around making music. I love her style and personality. That is one reason why she is still appreciated today! Thanks for a great reaction, Jack!

Jack I love to see a young guy get a glimpse into the 90s, the vibe, the atmosphere, the lingo. You are one of the few younger cats who will understand why my generation goes hard when this generation tries to dis with no idea that this was THE ERA that opened the door for everything that hip hop and r&b is today!
