I really appreciate you chaps taking the time to do these live-streams. Would it be useful in future to use the TH-cam chapter system to break down the sections of the work, and to identify the stages as you problem-solve creating something?
The greatest impediment to learning something new is not knowing even the names of the steps one should take. Being able to put a name to a problem from the very beginning aids learning, even if you've not reached that chapter yet.
Love what you do, please keep making great stuff!

Thank you, guys! So happy to see you back online on a regular basis! I'm also happy to figure out that my mat workflow is similar to Chad and I've figured it out myself, pretty proud :)

I learnt more in this live video regarding how to use roughness maps and some nodes (that always got me confused, honestly), than a hundred tutorials. Thanks a lot! Looking forward to see those new HDRI lights in my PLUS subscription. By the way...how did you customize the icons in the Object manager? is much more clear like that! I want it! 🙏🙏

    The node-graph work begins 1:06:00

the problem you face at 1:30:26 It happens to me quite some time, it's because the kernel has been set to the info channel when using solo mode. if you check the setting and change to PT again should fix that scene.

I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but I've had fewer bugs with "Solo Node" when I use the hotkey to trigger it in comparison to the right-click menu. (Hotkey is "D" I believe)

Chad is so on it with the PC debate. People act like using Windows is like using Houdini or something. Distributed computing is still years away if only because the United States infrastructure is awful. Pulling down your 32bit EXRs can take longer than the render farm sometimes. If we got wide adoption of highspeed internet.

FYI the reason the Universal material doesn't default to chrome when adding on a composite material is that it is inheriting the settings of the default glossy it was switched from.

Using both pc/mac for years. I use Pc for 3D - i like mine 2x3090 that no mac can replace, so when I see comments like "I tried pc and had so many issues with windows..." rly? when? in 1997? Cause like windows 10 is kinda awesome and works as well as my mac os. Why is this still a silly argument?

You do not need redshift for better materials. Just need to understand the basics and look for the best references.

What GPU is Chad running in the machine he's using here? I'm looking into buying a computer for octane and it's really hard to find real world examples of how fast it is.

I'm using 2x 2080tis but in this video I limited Octane to only using one card.

@@cgpov oh wow. I thought I’d have to be buying at least a 3080 or something to get reasonable speeds but even with one 2080ti it looks fast! Thank you for the reply
