    Unrelated, but last week I was in London because my daughter was in the Royal Brompton hospital having a tumour removed from her lung. I managed to visit the pop up in Covent Garden and bought a lipstick for her to cheer her up as she didn’t want to feel like “a patient.” The service I received was above and beyond and she was delighted with her Strawberry shock!! Thank you Lisa, you made a lippie loving lady super happy ❤️

    I've been doing this eyeliner for years because it suits my asian eye shape and it looks "doll like" with white eyeliner too. Idk why people talk about trends just do whatever suits your face the most!

    • @jenniferrichardson8474
      @jenniferrichardson8474 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I totally agree. I do what suits me. I don't follow trends. Partly because I'm about to turn 48 and feel silly as an older, middle aged woman trying to wear many of them (and this isn't throwing shade at older women who do enjoy following trends. You do YOU!!). Just not for me these days. I prefer a much more natural, understated look.

    I sort of started doing this by accident after watching Korean makeup videos, where you often see straight liner which begins or gathers momentum toward the outer corner. My socket bone always warps the line to create more of a curve, but with hooded eyes I don’t have a lot of upward mobility with eye makeup and so this technique really does elongate the eye. I like the proportion it creates on the face. I like these videos about simple but effective approaches to daily makeup! Thanks Lisa-I’ll try this today and rock it with Strawberry Shock. :)

    Yes, I agree Lisa. The Egyptians certainly did this style, and I appreciate your looking at historical records or visuals to make comparisons with contemporary makeup trends. I think I will try this as I have the droopier eyes that have come with aging.

    I’ve been doing a winged liner since I started doing my makeup at 15, I was very ambitious at that age! And I’ve done so many wings the past decade and I’ve noticed this type of wing was easiest for me to do on both eyes. What works for me is starting with a liner brush and using a brown eyeshadow that is slightly damp to create the wing. It’s the easiest to clean or blend into the eye, and then I add my liquid on top for more precision. It looks beautiful on you Lisa , I really want to try bringing it into the inner corner like you did !

  • @thefoxyscentury
    @thefoxyscentury ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I find this so encouraging and validating! Lisa has probably done thousands of winged liners, on herself and others, and yet it still takes time to get it even, even for someone with so much experience. Thank you for explaining the bit about the concealer, too. I always learn something!

    I’ve been doing my liner like this for years, tho with a shorter “wing” and instead of concealer under the wing I use white eyeliner. I really love this liner shape with my small, roundish slightly too close together and hooded eyes. The elongation with the straight wing helps my eyes look farther apart, and not dragging the line upward helps to not accentuate my ever increasing hoods.

  • @brooke9297
    @brooke9297 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Yes! I’ve been doing this for years for just these reasons. I’ve got asymmetrical eyes that are very deep-set, so going with an upswept cat eye highlights the asymmetry and elongates my already quite long face. The straight line widens the eye without adding the upward lines. I also like taking the line out a bit higher than the corner of my eye to avoid making my eyes look too narrow. Thank you!!

    Nicely done! It is always a pleasure watching your videos. This works for faces with close-set eyes, so it would work for me. My version is a much shorter wing, smudged, sometimes hidden behind a final layer of darkish eyeshadow so the line is there but not too obvious beyond the eye. I enjoy watching the makeup videos showing us how to lift our eyes, but they don't apply to everybody. Each of us needs to work with the shape of our own eyes and face. I believe I look better when I extend my eye makeup towards the sides of my eyes.

  • @elinam31
    @elinam31 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Looks beautiful on you! ❤️ I absolutely love how gently and delicately you do and teach makeup. It's just a treat to watch and learn from.
    I do a nearly straight liner everyday, only my technique is different since I do my lower waterline first. I use gel eyeliner or a kohl in my lower waterline and extend it beyond as a wing, then do my top lashline from the outer end of the wing to the inner corner. I end up getting a relatively straight wing with this and it gives a beautiful elongated look to my eyes.

I think this straight wing and lengthened brow will really be a great part of my makeup arsenal for re-contouring my face back to more of an appearance of the upright triangle! Thank you so much! Love the vid!! This is the way they do in Korea. Being doing this since I watched a Korean MUA Pony. I have round kind of big eyes but never liked how winged eyeliner looked on me. This way is much more easy (since I was left with an eye more slanted than the other due to a surgery to recover my sight) and looks very natural for every day at school or to go out with a shimmery eyelid with pastel colours :).

I have never been able to pinpoint why I sometimes create a "meh" liner and sometimes it looks so good my confidence can be seen from the stars. I just went and tried this straight wing style out and it made me realize this shape is exactly the key for my perfect liner! Apparently I've been loving this style of liner for years without realizing it 😄 I highly encourage everyone to try it out, you might be pleasantly surprised how good it looks! I do it a bit shorter tho, so if the drama of a big liner scares anyone, try a little mini line. The impact is just as gorgeous 🤩

    I've literally been doing this for years too! It's the only eyeliner look that really suits me, especially since i have kind of hooded eyelids. More people should try it!

    Great tutorial! I appreciate the tips about the rest of makeup with this liner: less bronzer and blush in the middle of the cheeks! I'm going to a music festival tomorrow, will be making this makeup ☺️. Thank you!

    Love seeing this! I tend to either do my eyeliner straight or slightly going down because it suits not only my hooded eyes, but also my face shape! I connect the eyeliner just on the 1/4 outer edge of the lower lashline. Winged eyeliner makes my eyes look disproportionately small and too high up on my face.

    I tried this technique today and my eyeliner had never looked better or more complimentary. Thank you for sharing tips and making it look easy for those of us who aren’t as talented! 😘

    Didn't know this was a trend! I've been drawing my eyeliner like this for years! I find it very flattering and elongates my eyes without being too showy or heavy. It's a good look for anyone, no matter what eye shape they have.

    I tried this liner look after I saw your video, and I love it! It's so easy and less likely for me to screw it up vs. cateye :) The Hindash liner is the my current fav. Thank you for this!

    OMG, I have been doing this straight eyeliner to avoid the folds in my eye lids… didn’t know it is a trend… 😁 Always enjoy your tutorial, Lisa. 😘🥰
