I love it. Im an RN and do a version of soft makeup before work at 5 am and it needs to last 12 hours. Seeing this video helps me to understand how light and dark works and maybe I can amp up my soft look for work. Thank you!
I am continually amazed at how painterly you are when you do a look and explain it. I’ve watched more tutorials than I’d care to admit by other makeup artists and still have no idea how to apply makeup. But when you explain how to do a look, you describe it in a way that makes sense to me as if you were an art teacher showing how to build dimension on a flat(ish) surface. I usually never comment but didn’t sleep either (although in my case it’s my 8 month pregnancy causing it) and felt compelled to let you know how much I enjoyed the tutorial. Having followed you from the beginning, and through all my different makeup preferences and skin concerns from my twenties into motherhood and my thirties I’ve always loved your content. I'm 77, not your usual client but less is more once you reach a certain age but if you have worn full makeup daily for work for decades, every time you begin, even though you want to apply a light application it ends up looking like your going to work, or a least this has been my problem. Today you have given me some excellent advise/instruction and I thank you.

I think of this kind of makeup as Photoshopping my face. I’m bumping up the contrast of light and dark. The brightness and the shadows, but not the saturation levels. So, I add light to my cheekbones and chin. I up the shadow level under my cheekbones and under my jawbone. It’s just an easy way for me to visualise what I’m trying to accomplish. 😊
I didn't know i waa waiting for this video but i was! Lisa, im wondering if you could do a video on what you mean by things like 'warmer or cooler,' colours. Or like when you ralk about blue tones in a pink lipstick. I still haven't grasped exactly what these things mean.
