I wish I wrote this earlier. On my 23rd birthday I tried my first Bantu Knot out. Girllllllll the devil is a lie. When I took my braids out I was like whyyyyyyyyyyy did I do this in my birthday?!?!?! I just had to drink and rock with it. Natural hair is a journey and you have made me truly appreciate the headaches it gave me! I am 30 young now and the appreciation I have of learning my hair was not easy! Keep doing youuuu.
I watch Naturally Philo here on TH-cam and a trick I learned from her is to flip the end of my twist so it wraps back up. This has helped my ends look nicer/holds moisture in twist and braid out for anyone who wants to try. Your twist out came out great. You def have more definition with this method

I have accepted that most hairstyles that are popular in the natural hair community are not for me, so I'm not gon' waste my time and try them out on my hair. Why you may ask? Because my focus is on hair retention than it's on hair slayage.
Girl I feel you in this. That's why I stick with twists/ twist outs. I have a hard time pulling my hair back in a sleek bun and refuse to stress over hairstyles.
I lowkey like this twist out better than the wash and go's on your hair. It's so pretty. The definition is more apparent because of all the loops rather than only seeing the definition when it's zoomed in on a teeny little strand.
I still say, wash, deep condition (with a moisturizing DC), LOC (or LCO, it doesn’t matter), then style. If you want to stretch fine, but still LOC and quickly set the style before your hair completely reverts. It’s really hard to make your hair not look dry when it’s dry

Now I’m including gel into my regimen because by some miracle, it’s helping my curls stay curly and moisturized. My hair always looked dull and dusty and it always dried brittle. Girl I gotta give you a tiny tip... I used to have trouble with Bantu knots too but I started doing them differently. I two strand twisted the hair and then twisted it into the Bantu knot. Comes out great every time

So glad you only used a leave in a shea butter ! I had to find out using just those two products (plus oil after) created defined twist outs and braidouts. They're my go to now ! Super simple and cheap !

I also have fine, low porosity hair! A braid out, with minimal ingredients (I use water, leave in, and a tiny bit of hair grease) seems to give me best results! It takes a lil bit longer, but the ends cooperate a bit better (especially when u twirl with your finger) and in the end, it's more stretched, but still full looking! I also do a lazy stretch the night before - with hair ties all over my head. I recently shaved my head again, and this time refuse to dye my hair and just embrace the knowledge that took me a full year of mistakes to learn! I know this video is like a year old but honestly as a fellow low porosity sista I will proudly claim the twist out was my first blood slain. I actually style it semi damp, part, apply liquid oil then a pomade on the part, hydrate with a cream of some sort or just using the pomade and seal that water in and for the following 2-3 days my hair remains juicy. That Isoplus works magic bro.
