Great video today showing how You manage your herd in the current barn. From all of the Lely farm videos I have been watching here on TH-cam, your about to enter a whole new world in how your herd will be doing things in the new barn. This should make all of them even more relaxed as they grow into this new way of how things work in a robotic dairy work. From what I have seen almost all of them say milk production increases and some of their cows will milk themselves more than before when they decide on their own when they want to be milked. I am sure You all will come to enjoy the extra time for other tasks as your herd gets into the groove of the new system. I am looking forward to watching the transition when you move into the new barn and how everyone adjusts to this new way of life ! ..... As always Thanks for bringing us along on your journeys and showing us a glimpse of how things have and are working in your current operation.........
Thanks again for your encouraging words! It's hard to be excited when nothing is happening on the barn right now as we wait for the concrete guys to come. Hopefully soon!
Its so refreshing to watch some very veery great cattle handling skills . I was the same way i worked a dairy job when i was young 17 to 23 im 50 now . We milked 114 pipeline big t-barn and i just cringed everytime one would slip n slide and fall
Brings back memory ,last time i milked the cows in the old barn was november 1993, since then we milked the cows in the freestall whit 2 times 8 milkparlour, dont miss the labour at all but the contact whit the cows for sure but when you have no extra labour and only the wife to help out it was a good decision at that time, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
Always love to see an older cow that has stood the test of time. Takes sound type to do that. Curious as to her score. Was she the 89 point cow he wouldn’t give her 1 more. Might be interesting teaching her to go to the robot. 😅
Yes, she it that 89 point cow! Wow! Good eye! I'm curious how she will do with the robot too. May have to do a video just of her and her first couple times😊
I haven’t handled cows for 40 years but even then the classifiers were hard on older cows that were still sound and productive. There’s a reason she lasted so long. She has a good foundation. Does any of your herd trace back to the great Lassie Leader bull of the 70’s?
@@geraldsieber7266 yes, I agree that cows that last should get points for that. We don't think so about the Lassie Leader bull. We tended to not use the popular bulls. My father in law liked type bulls that he picked out himself. A favorite that we used in our herd that did well for us but not for other people was Gillette Carlton.
@@HollcanaFarm I agree with you that some popular bulls you had to be careful. Just because they were the trendy bull didn’t mean they would work for you. Some guys would use a hot bull on almost every cow . They got genetics but messed their herd up at the same time. Your Father in Law was a smart man.
Brings back memory, last time i milked the cows on the barn was november in 1992, then the cows moves to our new build freestall, and still milking in that freestall althhough we added some to it and replaced the 2 times 4 milkparlour into 2times 8, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer

Thank you so much! It's satisfying to hear from someone who understands and appreciates our efforts!
@HollcanaFarm oh yes if you want those beautiful animals to perform their best they need to be pampered and comfy 😀😀

What you call a old fashion cow pays the mortgage
Enjoy it why it last .The robots will take over....lol
Yes, this is for posterity 😊
Nice looking cows you have. How many pounds of milk do you make every other day?
