That driver of the 56 at 0:32 is a legend, great bit of thrash with plenty of tones, as well as a thumbs up to top it off! Awesome video, one of the best thrash ones on TH-cam!
Loved the Sulzer sound 1:42 onwards. Happy memories of travelling on the West Highland between Oban and Glasgow to visit my girlfriend 40 years ago. (Yes, we're still married!)
Great Video. No drawn out shots of carriages or wagons rolling past just straight on to the next clip. There is some serious thrash going on here takes me back to my bashing days. Crikey sooooo many great parts, as per one other comment the 37s take some beating but the 56 near the beginning is the nutz. The brace of 50s on the ELR, the list go's on. Ive been lucky enough to do a few loco days in recent years and this takes me straight back. By far the best is a day out on ELR. Excellent fun with the gradients so if you get the chance do it .....this video takes me straight back. BRILLIANT STUFF. Had to subscribe :-)
Class 37s in thrash compilations is a catch-22 situation; you can't not have them in but every other loco pales in comparison! The DRS 37 at 3:02 onwards is just magic
Excellent, one of the best compilations i've ever seen on youtube! Just subscribed to your channel. I've never heard a western on its maximum performance before. Thank you for sharing.
Good job foamers. RIP Stobe The Hobo, you will be missed, I am severely depressed and almost brought to tears, by a man I just started watching in late November early December of 2017. I never ever get this upset, especially for people I don't know. I am a hard ass and angry, I know the world is fucked up and I know why and who is behind it and its degeneracy, and I call it out. Stobie was a refuge from Planet Evil and the degenerates filling it, know he is gone and I am in stage 1 denial, which I get stuck in permanently, but only for close friends or family and now Stobe.
TRAIN PORN!!!!!!.........GRID drivers were raised on rusty nails, and titanium!!! MEGA ENGINE sounds, sadly missed and replaced by those wimpy 60,s and 66,s VIEWER ALERT.......HEADPHONES OR SPEAKERS ON FULL VOLUME!!!!!!! Stuff the neighbours!!OMG check out the tones at 5:06 shame no longer Valentas :(((( Thanks for sharing dood!! I love the way the drivers give it the beans when they know they are being filmed!!!
Unfortunately no there aren't any Valentas on the mainline anymore. An organisation called the 125 group have just fitted 41001 (the prototype HST) with the original Valenta engine. It is not mainlined yet but there is plans in the near future to get it on the mainline.
LordGeorgeRodney I believe there are 24 VP185 Power Cars all with East Midlands Trains. You might find this link helpful en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_43_(HST)
Steve luckhurst I know what you’re saying. They knocked out lots of the old classes. At work we have just gotten some new EMD power, but their old models from the 1950s are my favourites.
@DanielNisbet2012 thank you for your disjointed and largely nonsensical post. It merely reinforces my earlier point. To reiterate, a well maintained, four stroke diesel should not produce large amounts of smoke. Those who choose to draw attention to , and indeed laud, the production of smoke and soot will simply hasten the demise of heritage diesels on the main line.

British diesels give out the best thrash imo, loved The Western at 8:28
great video. The "Hoover's" at the end were certainly chucking it out...!
Thanks Tony
Lovely , no messing , just the thrash without the boring look at the coaches etc etc .great .
The footage of the clag behind the 50 was superb. Great vid selection in all . Thanks for this , keep up the good work on this old school stuff
Loved the Sulzer sound 1:42 onwards. Happy memories of travelling on the West Highland between Oban and Glasgow to visit my girlfriend 40 years ago. (Yes, we're still married!)
Glad it brought back some happy memories!Sam.
Good on ya,well done
I needed this in my life

Glad you liked it Guy! I feel pleased that my videos take many people back to the good old days :-) Many thanks for the sub!

What loco is that at 7:11? I thought at first it was a Clayton Class 17 (I believe there is one preserved example) but on closer inspection it isn't.

very good video 10 out of 10
Thanks very much Nigel!
Nice sound turbo.
ok didn't know this but are there still some of the original Valenta 125's still around?
Unfortunately no there aren't any Valentas on the mainline anymore. An organisation called the 125 group have just fitted 41001 (the prototype HST) with the original Valenta engine. It is not mainlined yet but there is plans in the near future to get it on the mainline.
Banjostrings07 HD there must be.. that Midland Mainline certainty sounded like it had.
LordGeorgeRodney They're similar to the Paxman Valenta. They have a VP185 Engine not the original Valenta engine
Thanks Sam
Banjostrings07 HD ah thanks How many of those are there?
LordGeorgeRodney I believe there are 24 VP185 Power Cars all with East Midlands Trains. You might find this link helpful en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_43_(HST)
Great Video
Nice vid mate a like from me :)
Thanks Oscar!
Your welcome :)
What is a thrash?
when an engine is revved up like in this video. e.g. from idle to full power.
Banjostrings07 HD Oh yeah! I get it now!
as a northerner I love the grids...
awesome vid , but no class 55 :O , what is this heresy
Linda composición de sonido diesel.
this sounds like CKD loko 749 class:)
Good stuff
Wot, no 58s?!! :D
Would've put some in but none in the UK :(
I'm losing track of time; I hadn't realised how long ago they were withdrawn.
You cant beat a 56 Awesome vid many thanks
Thanks Jack
Sam
0:31
The MTU engine in an HST sounds shite.
Duncan Grant
oh yes!
Anyone see that dog at 1.30
True man power
YESSSS
Hellfire 66's! I have some much better shed thrash though!
Thanks Howard. I have loads of shed thrash its just a case of finding it in the archives lol.
Of all the locos to comment on...
Banjostrings07 HD th-cam.com/video/1M5idbcxmKE/w-d-xo.html
It looks like lorry 😂😂
Nothing like screaming EMD 2 strokes!
fortunately
Steve luckhurst I know what you’re saying. They knocked out lots of the old classes. At work we have just gotten some new EMD power, but their old models from the 1950s are my favourites.
Class 66 seems the most reliable, rest is just steaming and sounds not really that good, and looks like they were designed the 1930's :/
Nice collection of poorly maintained locomotives.
@DanielNisbet2012 I suggest that you research how well maintained diesel runs!
@DanielNisbet2012 Are you aware of how many old locomotives DRS have disposed of in recent years?
@DanielNisbet2012 oh dear.
@DanielNisbet2012 I wrote "oh dear". Do you struggle with comprehension as well as logic?
