Then, they gift subs to a bunch of people to see who will stay to the end of the video and command the hostage to saw their own hand off. If you do all that, you are proven "worthy" of becoming one of them yourself, since you have no remorse (or at least looks like you don't). The first "cult" member we see is this 'viewer598', which I would guess is one of the higher ups, because there is also something going on with the number, as the error message at the end is also 598. Furthermore, it seems the power of this cult extends to the entirety of the website, since many of the puzzles connect to the remainder of the site's comments, titles and descriptions. My ultimate theory is that their hostages eventually have their brains stolen, and the cult members somehow enslave their will onto the website to do their biding. However, at the very end, the wills of the slaves subtly hint at the player to break the system. Someone is trying to rebel against the cult and need the player's help to reach the core of the facility. To do so, the stolen wills give you small clues around the website that unlock the place, in the form of aforementioned comments, titles and descriptions. Once the person that is posting the videos reaches the end, they take a bat and destroy the hivemind, at last releasing the souls/wills of the people entrapped.
