unfortunately a lot of things in horror games aren't lovely by psychological design, but this was indeed a treat.

Honestly kinda amazing how they had a character with such large proportions be just like... entirely normal, she wasn't sexualized, or played for laughs, she was just a kind, hardworking single mother, who did her best to protect her kid, and thats really refreshing and good to see.
Yeah, her design caught me off guard, but she’s actually pretty smart for trying to outsmart the man in the window and protect her kid at the same time. And i like that, even if she was initially skeptical, she believed her kid and tried to prepare. A true icon.

Also nice to include a body type that is real, just uncommon. Sure, it's a rabbit, but I have known people with that build and this is probably the most accurate looking model I've seen. More games should just randomly include characters with real body types that carry themselves like real people do.
For real, this was what I was thinking too. Kudos to the creator for using a realistic body type than just an uber-thin model for the hardworking mom.

We need more home invasion games. This is actually tense if you ignore Mama Rabbit's design. Most horror games wants you to explore and catch you off guard, but here your home is your domain. Unlike FNAF where you actively fight off invaders, this is like a tower defense where you lay down a strategy and watch how it fairs against the intruder. And the fact that you're looking after someone adds more to the tension because you're not simply running away from the enemy because the premise itself won't let you.
Have you watched him play Don't Escape 4? Also an invasion game just not scary but nice to watch.
You're so very correct. Your home is your sanctuary, the only place in the world where you feel completely safe. Having that sense of security suddenly being stripped away is something that nobody wants, and that's what I think makes this game so scary. For a lot of people, home invasion isn't something they'll ever have to experience, but it very well can happen, and it's a frightening situation.
I've noticed there are more games like that on itchio nowadays. And I love it.

Can we just talk about how great Mama Rabbit is as a protagonist? She's a strong independent woman who don't need no man and loves her youg child and doesn't mind the hard work that goes into raising him (even before the demon shows up). Once the threat presents itself she stays cool and confident. She never frightens her baby, but instructs him on what he needs to do without alarming him even though she is putting herself in danger. Mama Rabbit is queen! Though I worry about her blood sugar levels she is still boss!

One thing I find particularly interesting about this game is the living conditions of Mama Rabbit and her son, which strongly indicate that they are poor. Their house is very small and may even be an apartment, consisting of only three rooms, one of which triples as a living room, kitchen, and dining room. Their only food source appears to be a small refrigerator, and I guess whatever Mama Rabbit brings home from the bakery. A typical night's dinner is probably anything microwavable. They have no desks or drawers to set their lamps on, nor a stand for their primitive-looking television, which is probably Junior's only source of entertainment, because I didn't see any children's toys lying about. They have a built-in bathroom, but all they can bathe in is a washtub. (Not to bring any attention to Mama Rabbit's figure or anything, but overweight people sometimes use this instead of a regular bath because it's more accommodating for their size. It's possible that there WAS a bath in there at one point, but they had it removed and replaced with a washtub because it was too small, which probably cost them even more money.) The only bedroom in the house consists of a single bed that they most likely share. As Mama Rabbit walks into her house, she even comments on how late her hours are, leading me to believe she has to work overtime just so she can afford what little she has, including the ability to put her son through school.

This also begs the question of why they are poor. Mama Rabbit seems rather competent.

Perhaps it's just what she's best at. My own personal theory is that she's been divorced, and that would explain why Junior's dad isn't present. Without her husband around to provide for them, Mama Rabbit had to land on her own feet and find work to keep a roof over her and Junior's heads.

I literally have rewatched this several times for the way Mark reads the book
every lets-play i've seen of this has the same things in common, nobody realizes theres an inventory until maybe ten minutes has passed, and everyone is absolutely flabbergasted at the sight of mama rabbit
lol yes i also didnt know there was an inventory and that the order of places he checks changes until after i lost 4 times
