This custom option is intriguing. I've been looking at the ShopSabre 23 (w/spindle), the CAMaster Stinger 1 (with spindle), and the Axion AR8 Elite series. Having a hard time because the SS only has a 5" gantry height (no options to increase that), I don't love the rack and pinion setup on the CAMaster, and the Axiom Elite has the RichAuto pendant-only setup, which I'm not thrilled about. Hard to know what's not a big deal and what I'll regret down the road. They're all in the $12k-$14.5k range as set up. What are your thoughts on those models vs something custom like yours? Main concern is accuracy/cut quality doing large scale 3D cutting like guitar and banjo necks, though I will consistently do sheet work for jigs/fixtures and ocassional furniture projects. Aiming for this to be used in a small scale side business. Thanks for sharing this video!
As to accuracy, I'm sure the CNCs you mentioned are good, but they're several steps behind my machine. My sculpture work demands very high precision. Carl Bruce, the maker of my custom CNC has built a number of guitar maker machines. Contact him and arrange a call to chat about your needs and expectations: cncbuilder@wavecable.com
@@digitalwoodworking Thanks for the reply! That's impressive to hear. I'm pretty new to this segment of the CNC router world. Would you mind if I picked your brain about what helps your machine be a cut above the ShopSabre 23 in terms of precision? That sounds absolutely perfect for my purposes. Just started emailing with Carl, thanks!
