Amazing that you're the only person I've ever seen put a review/comparison video together that has what I/we're looking for, especially considering they're all guitar players/consumers. Nice work and thanks!
A relative has a 1967 ES330 DOT I love playing it but I never knew how versatile it really was. What makes music powerful are those niche sounds that nobody has this guitar may not be a diamond but it is a precious jewel.
Fantastic review! My first guitar was a hand me down 1959 es-330T sunburst from my older brother. I regret trading it away for a Gold Top Les Paul in 1981. I just purchased the 2024 es-330, such a Great guitar! Love your demo and review. Top notch!

I wanted to say thank you for such an in depth review. I am a lefty and I recently found a 2018 lefty online. It was at a store across the country, part of a national chain. So I was unable to play it prior to making a commitment to purchase it so your review was instrumental in my decision. I watched it numerous times before going ahead. I have bought the guitar and have been playing it almost exclusively for the last couple of weeks. I am very happy with my choice even though it was incredibly expensive. I am loving the guitar and your video really helped me to make an informed purchase. I am sure there weren't that many lefty's made so I feel very fortunate to have it. Great video, thank you!!
Congrats on your 330! It means a lot when I see a comment like this. Thank you so much. I'm glad to hear that my videos aren't just another promotional tool and actually give some non partial guidance on purchases. I am really passionate about these guitars and I set out to convey that through my videos. I feel deeply sorry for your left-handedness btw...

Well thanks so much, such an indepth appraisal. I've got a 330 on the way to me from the States right now, really looking forward to the P90s etc, love that sound. Cheers from NZ.
Amazing review, terrific fun video and really nice comparison with the 335. Thanks so much for taking the time :) And, yeah, I really want a Gibson 330 . . . love my new import Casino but I suspect this recent Gibson is closer to what a USA made Casino might have been like back in the 60's. Thanks again.

Thank you very much! I sold mine to a close friend and asked if he would sell it back and he was like, "No way, I love this thing." There are plenty of 330s out there still!

Great job! This must be the most thorough review on 330. Enjoyed the gut shots. Kudos for doing the 335 comparison. Adding a Casino comparison would have been killer too ;)

Fantastic video. Most in depth and complete analysis of the ES 330 that I've seen. Love the focus on what's special about the 330 tone and how it's set apart from the 335. Loved the 330 before, love it even more now!
So glad you got the experience of the guitar 'playing through you'. When you started making faces about how microphonic it was, I thought you were going to miss the point of what can make these things so wonderful. My '68 long neck can be like wrestling a wild animal on stage, but when you get it in that sweet spot: wow. If you don't it feels like it's about to explode though.....
I feel a special bond with the 330. I'd still love to have a 335 in my arsenal, but I will always be attracted to the 330 first. I'm jealous of your long neck! Thanks for watching.
Great video with so much help. I have a 335 and Les Paul with P90’s, but still think I want a 330! Like every other guitarist, I always want one more guitar...
Excellent presentation and detailed history. It would interesting to hear an A/B comparison between the 330 and a MIJ or USA Gibson Casino. Glad I accidentally found your channel.
I recently picked up one of these and can’t be happier. Totally agree with your assessment that this is one of the best Gibson necks ever. Also, fit and finish are superb. Best p-90’s I’ve ever played (I’ve had p-90’s in a Custom Shop LP special and R6, Gibson USA Special and Lollars). I disagree with you on two points: durability/build and feedback. This is no more ‘fragile’ than a 335, and it holds up in high volume environments so long as you’re not facing a speaker (as you mentioned).
I've been GASing for a Casino or ES330 for a while, and I *really* appreciate the in-depth review. Especially your comments on neck profile... I can't tell you how many times I've seen very popular reviewers gloss over it like it's not very important. It's 50% of the thing you grab and play, it's SUPER important! The perfect neck for me is about 0.90" so the 0.88" on your 330 is really enticing to me. Do you know if any of the Epiphone Casinos models or years (made in Japan, Korea, China etc) have the chunkier neck? BTW, I subscribed dude!
It doesn't matter how nice the guitar is. If it doesn't have a comfortable neck (to you) than it's going to be difficult to play. Thanks for the comments. I haven't tried out any recent Casinos, but it's been on my list. So many videos to do, but I'll try my best to review one!
I have both, and after seeing this I was convinced of the characteristics of both! The ES-330 has a bit nasal sound and short sustain, while the ES-335 has a solid and wide range. The common elements of both are nice playability and sweetness.
This review has to be listed in the International Bureau of Weights and Measures. Seriously, as perfected as it is. So compact and deep, almost like a whole PhD research chapter. I’ve subscribed to this channel for the sake of the tremendous body of work in this video - immaculate. Maybe you could’ve done a J45 review, for instance?
Thanks again for the kind words. I am doing my best to keep the reviews coming that are as in depth, but it's a high standard to keep up! I will put the J45 on my to do list, but I am not as familiar with acoustics.
The most talented musician to ever wield the ES-330, was the late, inexplicably great, Elliott Smith. He owned like 4 vintage 330s lol. His "live at bumbershoot" video is a great live show where he rocks a couple of them, just set in different tunings for a quick swap.
Hi, great review and history lesson !! I once owned a 1963 Gibson 330TD The neck inlays were split/angled and started at the first fret. I have never seen one with this neck decoration since despite much searching. Can anyone explain how mine was made this way. Wish I still owned it - many thanks - Terry W
This is the best comparison video on any guitar I've ever seen by miles and miles. Very nice. thank you. Great editing skills too! Full chords? it's 335 for me. Picking? 330 all the way. There is no winner. Just different.
Thank you very much, I appreciate that. And yes, these guitars are just different "tools" to be used for different applications...or I am just saying that to justify buying tons of guitars...
Wow, ES, Electric Spanish. Had a '63 330 since the mid 70's & never knew that (or even thought about it)! Funny about the cases; I could barely afford the guitar & the (original!😱😭)case was something like 20% extra so I took it away in a blanket! I have never thought about parting with it, even when it sat in the loft for a few years when I used another guitar. It plays like a dream, the neck is fabulous & all those tones are there, so its versatile if you only have one good guitar, not a shed full of Les Pauls, Strats, Teles, Gretsches etc to swap between. Good for unplugged practice & song-writing & even better thru a Fender valve amp. It does feed back but you can control it if the amp is not too loud. (I think that's what you meant by being no good for distortion; it's the volume causing feedback rather than distorted tone. Obv. you can drive an amp nicely with it, but probably not a Marshall stack on 11. In that sense it's not a heavy metal players choice, although I guess you could fill it with spray foam 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The best Jazz ton eon the 330 is the old trick in the middle position with the bass volume full and gradually turn the treble volume down and the sound gets darker without losing definition. Great video.
I am overwhelmed! You've put a lot of effort into it and you've researched it very well! I learned things I didn't know before. What I want to mention: You are a very good guitarist! I own a 330 from 2013, a 335 from 2007 and a 345 from 2010. It is what appears to be the first BB King guitar, but I don't believe it. It's just a mix of Lucille and his first 345. Or what do you think of that??? You can see it in my videos... Anyway, your video is awesome and I will watch it several more times. I have a feeling you know exactly what you're talking about. I already have a blue book and other Gibson lecture... Cheers Sven!
I have the same 2018 ES330, as you do. I threw 11s strings at it, then 12s. It does not sound as near as good with 9 and 10s. With 11s it has a large boost in EQ and volume, in a good way. With 12s the low resonating frequency large body starts resonating on full, as it was initially planned to be. So try that. Also it sounds killer with 10’’ speaker amps, blackface-like especially.
BellezzaGuitars , after a year with 12s, came back to 11s - the sound with the 12s seemed to have that rasp metallic edge. 11s work perfectly. 12s don’t give you any more volume and eq, but add highs and presence. My guitar tech also recommended using 11s, never using 12s, and avoid low-gages as well.
@@bobbybaghdad522 I think 10s and up are best for the 330. It's funny because many of the guitar players I've talked to lately are going with super light gauges. I know guys playing with 8s now!
I had a Casino USA and a Heritage 530 enjoyed them both, but ultimately landed on the ‘64 335 VOS and sold them. I never experienced the squeal but could ride the feed back like the Nuge and loved that. But Im for lack of better terms ultimitely a blues Dad rock guy, so the 335 was a better fit, I do play in an indie duo occasionally, and usually clean the 330 would work well with that but I prefer my junior or just a strat if clean through a JC120. But honestly my 335 covers almost all ground I need to cover, especially blues and Dad rock, and the custom shop build and neck, pickups and the finish of the ‘64 VOS is everything I could ever ask for. And it never gets old and will always be relevant. But the 330, has lots to love, P90’s are great.
I bought my 1965 used from an elderly man in Park Ridge; 1984 for $400. Original case and candy inside. The guitar is a tank. I played it through the end of high school, then on to crazy basement parties at Illinois State University. Not even a scratch, never a significant setup. I never needed to adjust the truss until 2017 when I tried flats on it. I went back to 9s shortly after. Moved to Florida, still plays and sounds the same. “Delicate” does not describe a 330.
Awesome review. Well, Gibson has just released the Es330 back in 2024. And guess what? I just ordered one😂 I used to own a 2015 NOS with Bigsby.. sold it like a stupid GAS nerd I am.. it was a hugely good guitar. Seller's remorse at it's peak after realizing every single guitar I purchased after that was just not THAT guitar. Well, I hope the new batch is on par.. waiting for the brown truck has started
I own like a old samick thats kinda a inbetween (so not really a 330 nor a 335) ... got it as i was young wanted something "Beatles like" and didnt know much about guitars ... It has a centerblock and humbuckers in it, but with the bodysize and neckposition of a 330 (with body meeting at like the 17th fret) ... and it weighs a ton coz of the centerblock (at least it feels like it) .... What speaks for my samick it is that it plays really good, sustains forever and its a really Beautyful to look at Piece, since the body is allaround birdseye maple with a Sunburst (not tobacco, "regular" sunburst), and i got it cheap used :D ... but totally as you mentioned... I dont play it often coz the limited fret accsess bothers me, i mean i can reach the 22th fret but its not comfy at all... even if i dont play a lot high up, for some reason i prefer guitars where i know i can if i spontaniously decide i want to do so (reasons why I love SGs and the PRS shape) also i like the "More out neck" feel ... So I totally get why people generally prefer the 335 over the 330, just for better fretacess alone, even if you ignore the feedback or higher fragility of the construction (coz those arent problems with mine). Nice video
I miss those old Samick's. A majority of the guitars made in the '90s were Korean made Samicks including all of the Epiphones and many of the "house" brand guitars. We thought they were cheap back in the day and now they are slightly sought after! Thanks for the comment and for watching
@@bellezzaguitars7155 Yeah mine is a 90s one made in Korea ... i took a look at the label its a Samick SAB 650 OS , the even older version with the deep 330 like set neck. (kinda wish it would be the slightly newer one that has more like the 335 fretacess :D otherwise as i sayd its an amazing guitar, if you dont mind heavy guitars )
I really thought I was looking for a 335 style instrument.. but I’ve been realizing I might scoop up its hollow body brethren… something about that touch of warmth.. 330 is a special one!
Thank you for your excellent review. I have a very nice 335. Today I played a 67 330 in beautiful condition. Love the neck. Love the pickups. I feel like I'm cheating on my wife to say that the 330 just seems to have more soul.
Thanks...Good question. The 137 is not a super popular model (I don't think it has been in production for a while). I have played them here and there, but can't remember much. All I can say is more upper fret access.
Been in the works of converting my Worn Casino into an ES-330 and this was IMMENSELY helpful in distinguishing what there is to love P90s in an ES body vs humbuckers equipped. Thank you.
It has a cleaner, brighter and more acoustical sound than a 335. I've owned a couple of both. Most, especially the old 330's and Casinos are lighter weight which I like in my old age. Good review video!
Loved this video , first really easy to get to appreciate the tones and differences , easy to stay with. Creative ideas , loved them. I'm a guitar lover ,hey I reckon the Les Paul Deluxe falls into a similar category to the 330 , not the popular one. I love my Deluxe , what beautiful tone , beautifuly finished kneck and frets .Could make a good comparison video. Its got great tone to come back to
excellent review and great history lesson! i have a 1995 Casino.....please consider loosing the back ground music.....just my opinion....i was actually trying to concentrate on what you had to say!
I would be a little afraid of going to a fully-hollow guitar plus single coils. What I would be interested in however is a 335 with at least 1 P90 pickup - probably in the neck position. What do you think?
I am all about the P90 sound, so yes to that all day long. Gibson has done a couple limited runs of the 335 with dog-eared P90s, so they are out there. Or you can get a 335 and swap out one pickup with a Seymour P-94 (and I am sure there are other 3rd party humbucker sized P-90s out there) and then you can have your bucker/P90 combo. I built a Tele for a close friend with that pickup combo and it sounded incredible.
Great review! I have a Wildwood special run Memphis 330 and I love it. Really fat neck...1958 style i think. P90's are soooo much better than humbuckers for clarity and bite. There's a downside of Memphis guitars though. Both my Wildwood 330 and a 335 Studio I owned developed cracks in the upper bought. 335 on the back side and 330 on the front. Very sad, but the 330 is still a keeper for me! Antique Natural finish with flame maple...yowsah!!
Thanks for the video, I have one opportunity to have one 330td sunburts 1961 all original, ohh,I waiting for 335 vintage but it's always to much money, 😢 I try this 330 and really surprised for the sound and weight just perfect, you don't need amplifier 😂so maybe I accept de deal for this 330td 61,any recommendations welcome, thanks 😊

Excellent video, thank you 😊 I have the same guitar and it’s so incredibly versatile!
Great video! Congrats, keep on rockin!
Thats a great sounding guitar,, and some tasty playin to boot!
Thanks!
Awesome video!!!
@@bellezzaguitars7155 did you ever do a review of the Gibson 150 ?. thinking about grabbing one... PS.. your reviews are really top of the line baby
The most talented musician to ever wield the ES-330, was the late, inexplicably great, Elliott Smith. He owned like 4 vintage 330s lol. His "live at bumbershoot" video is a great live show where he rocks a couple of them, just set in different tunings for a quick swap.
Thank you, that one ran under my radar. I always picture him with an acoustic and didn't realize he played 330's.
Yeah his bread and butter was the acoustic for sure, but he could really rock out when he wanted to! He was an incredible instrumentalists all around.
Dude, you’re simply brilliant. This IS the Review - as it should be. You’re just a great guy in a f***ed up dumb world.
Thanks! It's not ALL dumb...well...maybe mostly dumb...
So the bridge just screws into the laminate and the spruce bracing? I thought there would be a block there but there clearly isn't.
That's what makes the 330 different. There is Spruce bracing, but no block. Most of the other ES models have a Maple block in the center.
This is the best review of the two guitars on the net. I'd buy the ES-330 over the ES-335. It's unique and I already own a Les Paul.
Kudos for mentioning the ES225. Most people that talk about the history of the 330/335's always neglect this model.
Best review ever
The best Jazz ton eon the 330 is the old trick in the middle position with the bass volume full and gradually turn the treble volume down and the sound gets darker without losing definition. Great video.
Thank you. I am seeing there are some devoted 330 players out there.
Top notch review 🇨🇦👍
thanks for watching
Great great video!
Depends on the player, but I like this guitar with 10 or 11s, but it's gotta be all nickel. Just my opinion. Thanks for watching!
I just ordered one😂
I used to own a 2015 NOS with Bigsby.. sold it like a stupid GAS nerd I am.. it was a hugely good guitar.

Super helpful, thank you 🙌
I really thought I was looking for a 335 style instrument.. but I’ve been realizing I might scoop up its hollow body brethren… something about that touch of warmth.. 330 is a special one!
Epic!
Thank you for your excellent review. I have a very nice 335. Today I played a 67 330 in beautiful condition. Love the neck. Love the pickups. I feel like I'm cheating on my wife to say that the 330 just seems to have more soul.
Absolutely amazing review. Totally appreciate all the details. How do you think the 330 compares to the 135?
Thanks...Good question. The 137 is not a super popular model (I don't think it has been in production for a while). I have played them here and there, but can't remember much. All I can say is more upper fret access.
@@bellezzaguitars7155 thanks! Back on a 335 search. Trying to justify the cost!
Been in the works of converting my Worn Casino into an ES-330 and this was IMMENSELY helpful in distinguishing what there is to love P90s in an ES body vs humbuckers equipped.
Thank you.
Thank you very much. Good luck with the conversion
Does it had a wooden block under the bridge?
I really liked the 330 much better. Very good video.
I have this nice guitar ☺️
Its got great tone to come back to
27:34 just tried to drink a bit of my beer at this moment...😆😆😆
excellent review and great history lesson! i have a 1995 Casino.....please consider loosing the back ground music.....just my opinion....i was actually trying to concentrate on what you had to say!
I appreciate you watching and for the comment and suggestion. I'm finding most folks aren't a fan of the background music! Thanks!
Hello super video . La 330 est montée en 10/46 . ? Merci
