I love biochar. Great if you need to reduce bulk density to optimize airflow in compost piles, or if you have lots of cations in food waste for example that you don't want leached out into the soil when making/watering the compost. Apparently, crushed compost favors fungal growth and uncrushed compost favors bacterial growth.
