  • 12_2_2014, 1972 Cushman, Truckster, ignition fixed, points capacitor was bad, (opened circuit), cart now runs up thru, 4000 RPM, without issue, if one watches the, spark plug test lights, they go from a fast flash, at idle, to almost a continuous bright light, borrowed, the capacitor, for one of the, derelict hoard machines,

Very Awesome! I am glad you got it all dialed in and running well. It will be great to have the Cushman available to use on the hoard. Something you might keep your eyes out for are used semi-truck tarps. They would be great for the hoop buildings. They are a heavier material and sometimes trucking outfits will sell them off because of a tear or some holes that a lot of time are repairable. Also sometimes bill board outfits will sell off old billboard material that is like a tarp or tyvek type material that could be bought cheap and used on the hoop sheds. Thanks for all of the work making all of these videos. They are the bright spot in my day.

51zebra , There was a guy on Craigslist who had the bill board tarps, but, it seems that he is no longer. I need to stop by some truck stops for their tarps, U R right, they are much stronger than the Harbor Freight stuff and would probably last almost forever in my woop building application! Thanks for all the good ideas, I did not think of the truck tarps! Also thanks for the encouragement, kind words, watching, and taking the time to comment!

RobsPackanShine,, This Cushman has always had its issues, I think it was sold from the golf course because they really could not make it run reliably... I have been toying around with it, but, once it runs ok, I would say good enough. I guess by going thru all the systems, it appears to be fixed, we will see what happens when I put the OEM carb back on. Thanks for the encouragement, watching, and commenting!

Love the sound ot these twin cylinder Cushman engines. You can still get almost all the parts from Directparts.com. To keep from burning the points you must use a resister so it starts on 12 volts and runs on I think it is 6.9 volts. You can get the correct resistors from Directparts.com

I need help. I have a 72 also and the 4 ignition switch wires are all disconnected. The posts are labeled: batt, st, acc and one with nothing. Which wire goes to what post? They are sparking when I turn the switch. Thank you.

wtbm123 , Terry, we tend to think alike, I am going back to the old carb, as soon as I find my carb dip and give it a proper rebuild, (U will be seeing some garage organization videos next week as I go thru the hoard looking for my lost carb dip), Thanks for the good input, watching, and commenting!

Harvey Spooner Cheapest dip around here is walmart. same can as parts store only $40 at parts store and $25 at wallyworld. If you buy one the other one will get jealous and show up right out in the open. Then you have 2 to loose and look for next time so it would double your odds of finding it . Well that works for me anyway.
