Great tips and awesome video!! I can only think of two tips to add: Use your hoe in the wild when gathering berries, mushrooms and flowers. You get that same luck chance of double the harvest. Mine the coal when mining ore. In mid to late game the amount of coal you need for smelting bars is huge! Those nodes in the mine usually give 10 to 12 pieces of coal vs making your own coal one piece at a time.
Great tips, thank you! I didn't pay attention to the coal amounts harvested in the mine, but I've been running short on it making bars like you said! 🤪
New tip, the towers with the glass crystal on top can be broken by throwing a rock at it and will unlock the treasure chests locked in the little buildings. Also follow the chickens from post to post to get a bonus chest in all of the biomes. You can also mine the rocky bits on your farm by hoeing them multiple times.
Small correction on the hoe: the max range is 3 x 4 slots (I think you said 3x3) Great video! I gotta try the bicycle/car decoration, I don't like decorating in games and would have never found that out by myself. Being able to feed the farmer's cow is so sneaky, and a cute detail. :3 Additional tips: - The very last tool upgrade for every tool is incredibly expensive, but it makes a big difference - I sorted my crops by grow time instead of fertiliser, so I can harvest at the same time - but that's a matter of preference - Build a fenced in area for your Lumas so petting is easier - You get all resources back for every item/building you destroy, apart from the torches, so don't worry about fence or building placement I kinda wish there was a setting where one could disable hoeing the ground on the farm at some point. The amount of times I accidentally tear up the ground is annoying. All my crops are laid out so I only need the hoe for harvesting.
Oops! I'm guessing that's because I don't have my hoe fully upgraded yet, thank you. And I do the SAME thing tilling up spots around the farm accidentally and then have to drop hay to cover it. 😜 Appreciate your tips!! ♥
thank you for the tips. one tip you can use hoe for the berries, flowers and mushrooms in the biomes for multiples if you have the hoe upgraded the luck factor can triger and you can harves 1-3 from one plant :)
Hey, thanks for the tip about the neighbors cow. I didn't know one could pimp someone else's cow for profit. Lol Everseeds are available for purchase from the various mushroom guys in the different Biomes. Each have different seeds for sale. A couple of things I'm puzzled about is, one, the rabbit with the glasses that lives in town. Seems like the game is hinting that there's something you can do with him but I don't know what. And two, the warning message you get about the chimp. I've never ran into a chimp in the game. I'm now into the game a little over 500 hours and have about $5.5 million coins and tons of resources. I have 12 different Lumas unlocked. All of my tools are maxed. And I still live in my little camper with a tiny plot of land to farm. Still need to find 3 more books and 1 key. Love this game.
I've wondered about the bunny and chimp as well, but there's a lot of talk in the Luma Island Discord that chimps were planned but replaced with boars/bears and that in the archaeologist profession, you learn the chimp was transformed into a bunny. So I think both are perhaps a bit of a meme. :) That's funny you still live in your camper!
Thank you! I am LOVING this game so much. It's the perfect chill game for me. I was very much over having games that I have to socialize with villagers, and give gifts every day, everything is completely centered around farming, you had to constantly worry about inventory and storage, making sure you get to bed on time and making sure you rush everything because there is a calendar with festivals and dates 🙄 ugh I am so over that type of gameplay! I've played only 10 hours but I got to skilled on treasure hunter and now I'm starting on cook. Im to get to skilled on everything and then level them all up again. It reminds me of fantasy Life. In between main quests I just take like 3 days to explore the island and the forest, the caves. Solve puzzles, find lumas and tepid stones... It's just been soooo much fun and so relaxing to do what I want when I want. No having to go home to sleep or empty inventory. And they make resources so easily obtainable so that you can progress. Some games feel like the devs designed it to punish you if you don't get enough of a certain resource at one time. This is a game with 0 frustration and 0 boredom for me. I've heard some people call it empty but for me personally I fully disagree. I don't need or want npc relationships and dialogue. I don't need a huge story in a game like this. I just want to log on and explore and make a nice island home. The farm space they give us is MASSIVE. Way bigger than most farming games. It's fun to set up an area for each job and not stress about having to make space. It is the first game in a long time that feels to me that the devs actually wants us to enjoy our time and not have to stress. I LOVE this game and I'm grateful for the tips!! 🩵🩵🩵 (Sorry for the essay! 😂 I just really love it!)

You and I think alike so far as organizing things by function! I started playing this as a treasure hunter because I wanted a rest from farming, but I will definitely be incorporating your advice if I decide to try cook or brewer! I've been repairing things in the town, and now need to get to the mountain biome for resources. haven't figured out how to get to there, yet, I'm still working on repairing the cable car... Anyway, thank you very much for the useful info!
@@BuckeyeBunny AHA! The general store started selling the cable, and I found the cog--so the cable car is working and I've found the mountain biome! Have already encountered the bear (he's very noisy!) and have been able to elude him by getting out of his line of sight. Woke him up once (Oops!) so at least I know he sleeps at night. Happy New Year!
Here's a good tip you can put into a future video... a really fun way to play the game is a "combat specialist". Upgrade the whip super fast and farm monsters. The monsters not only give tool tokens, but also nature tokens for that map, which you can spend in the mushroom shop. For example, one run I tried going fishing, but I only ever caught 1 of each fish (to unlock the fish in the mushroom shop). My guy had a fully upgraded whip super fast and I just farmed mobs on each map (mushroom guys in the forest, snowmen on mountain, and 4-star shooting plants in the jungle). I unlocked the jungle on day 9, and had a fully upgraded whip AND fishing profession mastered on Day 12. After that, every day I was buying 15 jungle fish and crafting the first 3 fish recipes for approx 180k gold per day from fishing alone. You can also pair that with treasure hunter profession (since you are out on the map fighting all the time, you can get treasures easily) and make around 210k gold per day or more. One last "tip"... in the brewery profession, the 2nd last item is just 20 grapes. So if you power level your crops (literally run into the town the second the previous crop is done, buy the new one and plant it) you can get to max level in about 20 days or so. After that, every 20 grapes is 14k gold, and you can fill the map with grapes and sprinklers. I paired that with Treasure hunter and combat specialist (see above) and used my nature tokens to buy tons of luma food to handle both professions, and had a million gold on about day 30. It's not quite as fast as the fishing strat above where you can hit a million gold around day 15 or so, but it's still great fun to try something different. Another fun strat is to not run temples and just speed-unlock the jungle with only like 1-2 lumas and use the combat specialist build to buy all the luma food you need. Not wasting about a day in each temple saves so much time, and you can unlock jungle SOOO fast, around day 8 or 9 is my best so far. Really fun game, and I have enjoyed trying out extremely unique builds and playing in unconventional ways.
Want a specific luma? Take a new toon directly to the farm temple and run the course to the big chest and see what you get. The luma drops are random. Not what you want? Just delete the toon and try again. Took me 3 tries but I got the adorable mushroom 🍄 luma and I love him 😍! He chirps at me when he finds a chest, too cute! I turned on the arachnophobia icon. The ghosts are a lot easier to see and I don’t mind whipping them lol. Thank you for this lovely update. You’ve earned a subscriber. Have a happy Luma day!
Very interesting tip about the Luma, thank you! I love the mushroom dude too. ♥ You're right about the ghosts being easier to see (and hear because of their chains)!
Does the ghost replacement take damage the same as the spider, or like the regular ghost? Because even with a maxed out whip it still takes 3 hits to finish the regular ghost, while the jungle cave spider will take only 1 hit
@@kabatram My whip is at the beginning of volcanic level, and I can whack a cave ghost in one whipping. 🤣 That sounds so bad without the proper context. But I did notice the ghost on my farm takes 3 whacks.
@@BuckeyeBunny Ah, good to know, that's mean the replacement ghost take the same damages as the cave spider then, I'm not arachnophobic, but the sounds they make creeps me out when I'm out mining in the cave
Greetings from Germany. I've only played 25 hours so far and I love it!! 😍 Your video is wonderful! I love your tips, they help me a lot. I've taken lots of notes and I'm ready. Thank you for your wonderful video.💚💛🦄🌻🌲
Guten tag and danke! (That's about all the German I remember from high school) 😂 Thank you for your sweet comment, and I'm glad you're enjoying Luma Island. Es ist sehr gut!
Tips* 1. Use your hoe to harvest foragables, there's a chance to get more. 2. You can replant the foragables at base and hoe them up again with a chance to get more. My hoe is maxed and sometimes get x4. 3. You can place grass, sand and gravel to decorate your place or cover the spots you've accidently hoed up.
-If you're ready to leave the cave, no need to follow torches back. Just walk into the darkness -You can obtain all professions in a single run, it gets more expensive each time. -You can buy Luma eggs after unlocking an egg type from the pet shop in town. Get a ton of Luma. -Petting luma gives extra luma energy per player. Make sure all friends also pet the Luma each day. -You get all resources back when moving plants/buildings/etc. Don't be scared to move things.
the luma power food you get from Mr Mushroom, you can feed the lumas the power food as many times as you want to get the energy, its not just once a day! :) 😊
Lots of great tips, thank you. I bought this game when it first released for sale on November 20. I've got 95 hours into it already. Love the art style and ambient sounds and music. The main problem I have with the game is that it's basically a building game where you are suppose to turn your little plot of land into a big developed homestead with a large villa. Well, my real life tendencies is to do the opposite. In other words, the less development and destruction of nature the better. So after 95 hours of play and 253 in-game days, I still have my little camper and just a tiny plot of wheat and grapes. But, my whip is maxed to level 15 and my pick axe is almost there at 14. I've gotten to the jungle area and made it to the top of the mountain. Still, I'm having a great time with the game. My only negative criticism of the game is that it removes all responsibilities for your actions. In other words, if you aren't careful, there's no consequences for your mistakes. The spiders, bears, snowmen, etc. can't harm you. It kind of takes away any excitement from the game in my opinion.
I can understand your viewpoints, and I agree about the lack of consequences. In the demo, they gave players the option of "hero" (death and spiders) and "cozy" - and I wish they'd bring this back to give players a chance to play in ways that suit their style.
Yeah, it was a bit of a weird decision IMO to remove the two different modes. As it is, the game is such an odd (unusual?) mixture of super cozy elements (no time pressure, infinite inventory, no stamina) and adrenaline heavy elements like the cave spiders and dungeon traps. Coming from the cozy side, I find the spiders kinda stressful (those noises are EVIL) even if they can't kill me and I lose nothing. It's still a nice game, but weird from a game design perspective. Would make more sense if there were 2 modes to pick from. FWIW, you really don't have to build a big farm? Just don't get or don't advance the brewer or farmer profession and you're good with a minimum of buildings. You can't overfish or run out of ore/gems after all.
I believe upgrading the tools also useful to increase the chances to get more than one item for each action due to luck buff, like high level fishing rod give chances to get 2 fish at one cast, for farming hoe means higher changes to get everseed when harvesting crops
You should cover the mini games that are in this game as well, like watering what look like little bird baths in the little shrines as an example. I haven't seen any youtubers cover that yet.
I was trying to be careful not to spoil puzzles...maybe in their own video, but I can see people getting upset if I tossed things like that in here, but it is a good tip, thank you! :)
I think it's good those aren't spoiled here, they should be easy to look up on walkthrough guides online if people want the solution. I definitely had to look up a few book locations on youtube because they can be super hard to find.
This was so helpful! Is there a way to jump? Or run faster? I can see treasure chests and stuff, but I can't figure out how to get to them. I'm only about 7 hours in, so still so much to explore!
The no-jumping bothered me too (and I don't believe there's sprint). You'll eventually find paths to get to items up high. The first that really befuddled me was the book up above the beach in the forest area. But within each mining cave, you'll find a back exit to get this secret stuff. (so there should be one extra cave exit in each biome I believe)
I don't enjoy the fishing minigame either. What I did was just ignore fishing until I upgraded the fishing rod to max level, then you can get lucky and catch 4 fish at a time, which cuts down on the fishing by a lot.
I would guess the jungle mushroom shop perhaps, as I think that's one of the last fruits I unlocked, so it's likely tied to that biome. Enjoy your new Steam Deck; that's super exciting!! ♥
The everseeds are generally sold in the biome one "higher" than the biome they are first used for, so for the watermelon that would be the jungle. The jungle is pretty hard to navigate, the mushroom man is a bit harder to find than in the other biomes. Iirc I needed to repair a bridge to a small island off of the main island to get to him. Another video gave a tip to leave torches where you've been already to mark the location, that could be helpful for exploration.
Where are you looking? Most of the iron ore, along with moonstone is found in the cave in the mountain biome. If you have been mining there and have exhausted the supply, then look for a cave reset kiosk along the walls of the cave. I think there are at least three of them. When you activate one of them, it will start a count down before resetting the cave's supply in order to give you time to exit. If you don't get out in time, you'll die, not that it would make any difference because you won't lose anything. Be aware that any and all torches that you've placed will be gone after the reset.
wish they would make professions actually useful besides making money, blacksmith for making different weapons, not just the whip, maybe armor / clothes , it makes no sense that you can go into the mountains wearing a tshirt, maybe food / water that you can actually eat for certain buffs, different Lumas do different things, a few 2-3 of em fight enemies or keep em at distance so they dont attack player, stuff like that
So survival mechanics plus Palworld style pals.😁I agree this would make things more fun, but I'm guessing the devs won't take the game in this direction. (But I highly recommend Palworld if you haven't played it). ♥
Great tips and awesome video!! I can only think of two tips to add: Use your hoe in the wild when gathering berries, mushrooms and flowers. You get that same luck chance of double the harvest. The part with the bear was adorable
Aw, it was heartwarming!! (aside from the fact it wanted to eat me) 🤣🤣
Thank you for this video! So many helpful tips for new players 😍 do you know if it's possible to move objects around on the farm?
Yep! Just hold your axe and most items will have a "remove" option you can press. 😊
the luma power food you get from Mr Mushroom, you can feed the lumas the power food as many times as you want to get the energy, its not just once a day! :) 😊
So Lumas are like goldfish and don't know when to stop eating?! Who knew? (well, you did, lol). Thank you! 🤣
@@BuckeyeBunny Exactly! lol
NO WAY!!! We can feed the Town COW?!!! Heck YEAH!!😊😊🎉🎉
This game has so many secrets!! 🙀😊
@@BuckeyeBunny Agree 100%.
Yes!! I forgot about the buffs for the tools aside from the hoe. Great tip!!
Thanks for the harvesting tips. Just starting to farm for supplies.
Never underestimate the power of the hoe. 😂
Insane
I don't enjoy the fishing minigame either. What I did was just ignore fishing until I upgraded the fishing rod to max level, then you can get lucky and catch 4 fish at a time, which cuts down on the fishing by a lot.
4 fish at a time would make fishing tolerable, good to know, thanks!! ♥
Use your hoe on the berries, and flowers you can get bonus ones. You can find everseeds in chests.
Bought a steam deck just for this game, absolutely ❤ it! Anybody has a tip about everseeds watermelon and where to get them? Thanks in advance
How do I remove ploughed ground that has everlast seeds planted? The game won't let me drop hay or sand or gravel on those spots.
Yeah, that bothered me too for a while. Hit the seed with your axe. Poof! Have fun!
Use your ax. You get the seed back
hey! oh my gosh its been years. hows it been?
Hey, CK! Good to see you here again...I still remember our days in COD DMZ. 🤭
@ that was fun lol
Upgrade tools and whip as fast as you can, make it more important then anything else....
this 👆
where to find iron ore ? i couldn't find any more of them
You can reset the cave if you're out. There's at least one reset button near the walls of each cave I think.
You should do a walk through with a new account
Oh my, just the thought of starting fresh is tiring. 😊
Maxed hoe will charge up to 12
12?!!! Holy cow!! Thanks for the tip...guess I need to prioritize that upgrade!
How illumanating
Ha! I see what you did there!
wish they would make professions actually useful besides making money, blacksmith for making different weapons, not just the whip, maybe armor / clothes , it makes no sense that you can go into the mountains wearing a tshirt, maybe food / water that you can actually eat for certain buffs, different Lumas do different things, a few 2-3 of em fight enemies or keep em at distance so they dont attack player, stuff like that
So survival mechanics plus Palworld style pals.😁I agree this would make things more fun, but I'm guessing the devs won't take the game in this direction. (But I highly recommend Palworld if you haven't played it). ♥
