As a European, I think Macron’s choice of word “vassals” was pretty irresponsible for him to use. Maybe the connotation is different in the French lingua, but to the vast majority it played into the hands of anti-Westerners who wants to see a divide between the US and EU.

And like that if you go down to all the nations in Europe many if not most wars where fought in Europe.

You shouldn't "accelerate". I love that statement. You see, that is where you can tell the difference between a politician and a lawyer. Being a President is like being the commander in chief Representative of a country. You can't be a politician and lead an army. Accelerate would indicate a legal term and something similar to Ex Parte or Emergency. Giving emergency or not is not an actual answer to the question. Changing the procedure does not change the substance of the conversation and the question was on the substantive meaning and not the procedure to get there. The politician uses divergence to direct the topic to an agenda rather than answer facts and findings. The procedure he would use or not wasn't exactly the question now was it? So what is accelerating a procedure have to do with giving an answer to the question? Politicians. Don't expect much more.

France and Germany.. You voted against the fast tracking of Ukraine into NATO back in the day.. Don't make the same mistakes with Taiwan..

That is the conflict currently people love to point out black and white, but love to hide their own black and white. either do it for all or accept the world is grey.

See when there was a crisis with Ukraine it was a global challenge and being neutral meant you will be seen as a bad nation in the history books, but in the case of crisis with Asian Taiwan being neutral for Europe nation or atleast for now France is okay. It just shows the principal and 1 dimensional thought process of Europe. "Europe's problems are world's problems but World's problems are not Europe's problems" hence proved.

No one has any good intentions these days. History book will be written by the winner, if there is one. More likely there will be no good or bad guys, not since the WW2.

Macron: "For me it's very important to have much more autonomous Europe and EU". It's not "more", it's "much more". It's not related to China, not even to Russia at this point, but to US. This is the most important statement coming from some European president / prime minister in last three decades.

It is the most hypocritical, as Europe turns to the US for the bulk of the aid, for a European war.

@@deborahfreedman333huh? The only aid the US has sent to Europe went to Ukraine. Unless if course you're aware of aid shipments to other European countries I'm not aware of?

You're right, it is an important message. TFG did a lot of damage to Euro/US relations in his four years.
