You forgot to do the trademark mcdonalds move and put the cheese halfway off the sandwich and then it melts into the bread to where you can't reposition it.
+Angel Carter I agree. She also acts alot like Phoepe with her sense of humor. I also think she looks alot like Cameron Diaz but with the perfect amount of cheek bone. Keep up the great video Hilah
Awesome! I suffer from Mc-fillet-o-fish cravings, but I hate going to mc-d's. Cooking is one of my main hobbies, and for years I have been trying to master the fillet-o-fish with better buns, fish, cheese, and tartar sauce to no avail. I just tried your recipe using codfish and panko breading and its the best fish sandwich I have ever had!
U ma´am, have one of the cutest personalities I was ever able to witness and i wanna say TY for delivering all those yummy recipes this way. I feel like watching, while I´m witya in the kitchen, we friends, u cook, I´m happy, it´s luvley!
I made these a few weeks ago and they were amaaazzinnggg. I'm about to try them again tonight. SO EXCITED I had to improvise a little because I didn't have any breadcrumbs, so I used potato starch. Still turned out super-crispy!
I made this on a recent snow day after seeing it on Flipboard...followed everything to letter except I fried the fish in coconut oil and used ciabatta bread. Your recipe rocks!! Can't wait to try your Chickfila recipe!!!
So darn happy yer back and makin' your vids again! YAY! Gotta let ya know, that no matter what you are cookin', your vids brighten up my day. Since the fast food places changed what kind of oil (or whatever it is) they deep fry stuff in, I personally find it all leaves a bad chemical like after taste in my mouth, which is specially noticeable when the food has cooled down from the ride home from the take out window. So thanks for makin' this "knock off" vid Hilah! I can now make my oun fishy things!
Hilah I added dried onions to mine and it also has a taste very similar to McDonalds. I love fresh onions too. I'm picking up fresh fish this weekend to make your version and I'm drooling with anticipation.
Oh My Wow! Hilah, this ought to be one of the best looking fish sandwich recipes. Thanks for this awesome recipe! Now I don't just have to go out to eat something chicken or fish every Friday. Also, good thing it's Tilapia, since it is my 2nd favorite fish after Salmon. Great job Hilah! I look forward to more delish recipes!
Nice recipe Hilah. Your presentation is as lovely and entertaining as you are. So, I do believe that..... You are the Dish of the Filet o' Fish. Blessings ChefMike
Likin' the lighter option, although I always fry my fish like you did. Showin' off a very svelte appearance there, Hilah! Your hiatus was totally the right decision for you. There was never a reason for us to worry, right? Best to you and Chris for this new year.
I agree with on of your comments! You go to Burger King? I used to get fries and something else that was fried? And back at home? The fries taste just like fried apple pie and the apple pie tasted just like fries and anything that was fish? Tasted just like fries and the fish! I love your frying just the fish! I am so happy that you have a child or more? And please forget my advice I gave you in 2012! I said to NEVER get married etc. I was NOT in my right mind! I am so happy that you did the "Family Thing!" For me? That was NOT my life! And NEVER listen to anyone who tells you to cook another different way? They are all very jealous of you and your life!!!! I mean this?!? You are an awesome woman! ❤❤❤😂
Hilah-ya make cooking so REAL-you win the day with your PERSONALIITY-your the "GODDESS"-of cooking-for real people-you wisen-himmer-SMART-ASS -CRAZY B-----LOVE YA!!!
Looks really great Hilah as always....by the way, you look and sound wonderful...love your hair...so cute with those pigtails!! Keep up the good work sweetie. looking forward to more from you.
Just this weekend I was craving a fish sandwich, my only criteria was not Mickey D.s! Setlled for the red headed pig tailed girl and it wasn't much better. Can't wait to try the home made version and remember for those southerners that are not particularly liken to tarter sauces, coleslaw works great..Also, Ray Crock's answer to the Lent problem was to offer a grilled pineapple sandwich, which he loved. He challenged the franchise owner to a one weekend sell off and the fish sandwich was an overwhelming winner...and history was made! Ray continued to eat grilled pineapple sandwiches for the rest of his life, but they never made it to the menu. I happen to like them myself to this day and maybe you should give one a try!
OMG! I love you... Now I have no reason at all to go to McDonald's... You did the McGriddle and now this! Awesome! If you could do their french fries I would marry you!
I met a guy at a bar one time on a drunk night and we had a conversation a out filet of fish. Was reliving the night thanks to this video which is awesome in itself. I will for sure be trying this. I do enjoy me some filet of fish (which seems to be the forgotten McDonald's sandwich) and yours looks a million times better then theirs!!
Hilah Cooking you're entertaining and obviously know what you're doing but mostly entertaining...i used to watch alton brown do his thing on food tv more for the fact that it was entertaining but man between you n him i'm starving! lol
Watching while I'm making dinner. Love the show. I know it's not like McDonald's tartar sauce but the Trader Joe's tartar sauce is the standard. Give it a try.
That fish sandwich looks great Hilah. Love that tartar sauce. We were up in Gloucester Mass years ago. A lot of the people there work for the Gorton's fish factory where they make the fish fillets for a lot of the fast food places. Thanks. Neil
I enjoy doing knock-off vids myself! So excited ya' hadta' break into song... Hey, you should sing an entire video someday! :) Great looking Filet-O-Fish. Digg'n the hair too! Cheers!!!
Never made anything you have cooked and I've probably watched around 100 of your videos, I've decided I'm going to either start from top to bottom or bottom to top and watch all your videos and make every single recipe. Wish me luck, I'm 14, can barely butter bread and once gave myself food poisoning.
Hilah Cooking Thank you! Hopefully I don't fail. I managed to follow a recipe for your grilled cheese sandwich, admittedly, it doesn't take the most technical chef to perform this, but you should still be proud of me. ;P
I work at mcd;s and I agree this is way better than the so called "fish" sandwiches sold at Mcd's. I wouldn't call the ones at mcd's food at all. Nice job :)
Hey Stupid this is the real history of Filet-O-Fish: The sandwich was invented in 1962 by Lou Groen, a McDonald's franchise owner in Cincinnati; his store was in a predominantly Roman Catholic neighborhood, which led to falling hamburger sales on Fridays resulting from the Roman Catholic practice of abstaining from meat on Fridays. The sandwich was the first non-hamburger menu item brought in by new McDonald's company owner Ray Kroc. Kroc made a deal with Groen: they would sell two non-meat sandwiches on a Friday, Kroc's own Hula Burger (grilled pineapple with cheese on a cold bun) and the Filet-O-Fish, and whichever sold the most would be added to the permanent menu. The Filet-O-Fish "won hands down" and was added to menus throughout 1963 until reaching nationwide status in 1965.
Just came across this, and I'm definitely going to try it! I actually quite like the Fish Filet sandwich (sad, I know) but can't justify eating it because it's so unhealthy. Your recipe looks delicious. Also, you remind me so much of Phoebe Buffay from Friends! That's a compliment btw. :)
Omg I love it!!! I watched the cornbread jalapenos cheese video.first and you had me.at the food dance at the end ... 3 videos in you are so funny and and keep it real 🙌🎉🎊😎❤
You're like the real life Phoebe Buffay - your subtle sense of humor is awesome!
Uma Thurman
Yessss
@@bluejade1212 EXACTLY what i thought
You forgot to do the trademark mcdonalds move and put the cheese halfway off the sandwich and then it melts into the bread to where you can't reposition it.
Lol yeah
lol :)
McDonald's only uses half a slice of cheese because they think that a full slice would overpower the sandwich.
You guys are too funny! You all da bomb!
I'm so glad you're not like other cooks. You're never boring. I'll try this.
you look just like phoebe from friends! lol
lmao thats what i thought! phoebe buffay
A.K.A Lisa Kudrow..... lol
+Angel Carter I agree. She also acts alot like Phoepe with her sense of humor.
I also think she looks alot like Cameron Diaz but with the perfect amount of cheek bone.
Keep up the great video Hilah
yes!!!! thats what i was thinking the whole time!!!!!
Angel Carter I was thinking that too!😂
I don't think I've ever had this much fun watching a cooking video! You really crack me up. Very entertaining. And the sandwich was great too.
Hooray! So happy to hear that! Filet-o-fish everyday!
Waaaay better than McDonald's because the ones they sell are so tiny and sad.
They ARE tiny! I was so surprised!

SO EXCITED
I had to improvise a little because I didn't have any breadcrumbs, so I used potato starch. Still turned out super-crispy!

I made this on a recent snow day after seeing it on Flipboard...followed everything to letter except I fried the fish in coconut oil and used ciabatta bread. Your recipe rocks!! Can't wait to try your Chickfila recipe!!!

I love fresh onions too. I'm picking up fresh fish this weekend to make your version and I'm drooling with anticipation.
Another killer recipe from the Queen of killer recipes. Cod or Pollack work great for this.
I forgot, I cut the cheese and add bit of lettuce. By cut the cheese, I mean leave it off, not well, you know...
Oh My Wow! Hilah, this ought to be one of the best looking fish sandwich recipes. Thanks for this awesome recipe! Now I don't just have to go out to eat something chicken or fish every Friday. Hilah Cooking Thank you! Hopefully I don't fail. I managed to follow a recipe for your grilled cheese sandwich, admittedly, it doesn't take the most technical chef to perform this, but you should still be proud of me. ;P

Culvers has my favorite fish sandwich, it is so good.

i love her personality
I'm thinking that would be really good with pear slices. Great video!
Ooh, maybe mix some blue cheese into the tartar sauce, too? Nix the American cheese ;)
Wow...I don't even like filet o'fishwiches, but your version looks good.
+Kacey Anderson thanks! It is good!
You look so much like Lisa Kudrow from Friends! Your videos are amazing!
A rectangle is a type of square?? I love it.
