Very enjoyable and interesting, thank you. Lovely to be 'in the loop' about the loco fleet.

The restoration of Mountaineer the the most fantastic news. Long overdue but the waiting makes her return all the more welcome. Please donate as much as you can! Thank you for the update, look forward to progress reports in the coming years.

Can’t wait to see a WW1 Baldwin and ALCO running together on the Ff&WHR! If we could see the WHHR’s Baldwin with them it would make a Brilliant Trio!

There is an Easier way of casting the vacuum pipe connectors and it can then be done in house and it takes out the sand casting proses and that is by 3D printing the parts and then Vacuum casting in investment Plaster. I have been experimenting with with steel bronze the past year and I can tell you that stuff can take a battering! it's been thrown off a 10 storey building in Swansea and survived with a few dents put under a hydraulic press before breaking at 5 tons. and will possibly last considerably longer than normal Steel!

Thanks for the update and explanation on Merddin. Could you go further and explain what the foundation ring is please.

Glad you enjoyed it. Perhaps we’ll focus on the intricacies of boiler construction in a future episode. Always good to have ideas for features.

The foundation ring is at the bottom of the firebox and basically a big ring of steel that seals the gap between the inner and outer firebox plates.
