    GREAT build. I especially like the fact that this sander has two different diameter wheels so you can do different contours.
    Top notch project - as always ! !! !!!

    An excellent and efficient design. It appears to work better than most commercial belt sanders I have seen or used -- and it is portable.
    Well done!

    Ya no se como decírtelo. Eres un GENIO.
    Veo muchos videos de gente que crea sus propias máquinas pero tu marcas la diferencia.
    Espero que sigas enseñándonos tus proyectos.
    Un saludo genio.

    The dust hood acting as a multi angle stop is a top notch brilliant idea! I don't recall ever seeing that on any of the industrial edge sanders I've used. The stops have always been separate from the dust hood. You should patent the idea quickly 😀

    What a great side-on belt sander, I love the small & large size drums idea for different applications, and your design in general better than some of the factory built ones i think, I must build one of these....excellant, thankyou for sharing

    This is a very well built machine, congratulations. I especially noticed the dust extraction. But there is a small flaw in the concept. The belt turns in the wrong direction, from left to right, so it is pushing. That's because the big roller is driven by the motor. The belt should move from right to left, or you should make the small roller driven. And that would also be better for the belt tensioner, because a belt tensioner should always be in the loose part of the belt and not in the part that is under tension, as it is now.
    All in all, a beautiful machine.
    Best regards from Belgium

    When using belt sander, most of time I see people using just the bottom part of the belt. Which wears it unevenly. I get that they can use thicker stock to sand, but most of time they're not. So, the question is, why the belt sander isn't skewed when using thinner stock? For example left side is fully raised, and the right side is half way raised or less? That way the wear of the belt would be even. Even better would be to put it vertical when rounding corners or sanding smaller area. Btw, great job as usual. That goes without saying.

    • @ricos1497
      @ricos1497 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point. I assume the skew would create marks on the work-piece, but possibly not. If the belt-sander part could be entirely rotated, on the axis of the worktop, then that would create the skew. Alternatively, if the entire part could be raised and dropped then the user could "manually" spread the wear by continually adjusting for periods of time. I prefer your suggestion of the skew though. Maybe it's not that big an issue though? I'm not a big user of static belt sanders

    • @Paoson_Woodworking
      @Paoson_Woodworking  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hello! it is normal to have several types of sanders for different jobs. Anyway most belts are reversible nowadays. As long as the belt is glued together with a piece of fiber in the back, and not overlapping, you shouldn't have any problem using them in reverse. This will help you get more use out of belts!

    Did you consider making the table adjustable so that the front or the back could be lifted a bit? It would maximize the life of a sanding belt by using of its whole width on the narrow work pieces.
