Very well done! I am looking to construct one of these late winter to get a head start. I like the simplicity and functionality of your design. I am going to use clear plastic with mine in hopes of regulating temperatures.

You can start with the row covers first so it doesn't get too hot then switch to plastic as the temperatures get cooler/colder. Thanks for watching.

I consider this idea, I was afraid that after the season was over the rebar would be left in the ground was dangerous to clumsy people killing them selves in my yard. You know the type teenagers running 🏃‍♀️ thru your yard at night stealing your yard tools 🧰. Once the rebar is in the ground I know I would be to lazy to pull them up after the season is over laying waste to stumbling Jimmy. Then I would have to dig a six feet hole 🕳 to hide Jimmy that’s not going to happen 🙅‍♂️ I am to lazy for that he would just have to fertilize the tomatoes 🍅 the next season.

Great Video, but couple of questions - the Waterpex tubing comes in 100ft rolls, how long is each hoop, can I also use 1/2" PVC as it may be stronger in the wind.
If I use 1/2" PVC will the drip hose pieces still fit and hold the plastic? Many thanks, cannot wait to do this.

    • @keithwilkes7629
      @keithwilkes7629  3 ปีที่แล้ว

John, I found more of the tubing in 50' rolls at my local True Value store if you don't need much. Each hoop is half the width of the bed x pie (3.14). The 1/2" PVC doesn't bent well. You have to soften it with a heat gun. And, the hose pieces are too small for that PVC. I've had 40 mph winds without an issue. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas!

@@keithwilkes7629 Looks like pipe insulation would work too?

Whatever you use, it has to clamp over the tubing well enough to hold the material on. Thanks for watching.

Если где-то найду бесплатно метров 100 полипропиленовых труб или металопласта , то обязательно так сделаю . )) А пока дешевле купить метровые дуги в высоту и в ширину на 5 метровую грядку за 500р.

What did you use to hold down the netting? You did not list it in the video

that's an ordinary water hose cut in the middle to preferred length.. i'm guessing that hose doesn't have much ply in it cause it looks soft..

Very good, but use a small sledge-type hammer. Less blows required, and you won’t have to turn it on its side to keep from missing the stake.

The best idea. I wanna build one of this structure but i don't understand what are that black pieces to fix the plastic coverage and which material are made of. Can you explain? Thanks.

Thanks. I have used pieces of pvc tubes for external electrical installations diameter 20 mm. I cut them lengthwise by removing a strip of 4-5 millimeters.

I cannot believe the people that put thumbs down. They obviously don't live in an area where we NEED this. Perfect for hail. I am building one. Tired of my garden getting hailed out.

Maybe they've had past bad experience using flexible pipe.
If I ever try again it'll be using metal.

Allows you to get started early and grow later in the season. Protects against frost.

I thought about getting something like this to protect the bok choy that I want to grow. However, would this covering block the sun light out? Never tried this before.
