- The story goes that in the 1700s during the French Revolution this welsh land owner became paranoid and build not only a farmhouse built like a barracks but also fort with hidden tunnels and even an arms magazine!
Matt and Andy travel to Wales and find hidden writing unseen for over a hundred years that may give them more clues

Funny that you said they haven't used looms since the 19 20's. They still use looms today to make all types of material as well as rugs. They are computerized and more advanced but in parts of the world they still use these looms.
Great video as always. The first thing that came to mind with the thing outside the tower is a cannon platform with the gunpowder storage underneath.

Was at one time one of the oldest makers of the Jacquard loom 👍😃
Those machines with pointy bits coming from it is a Jacquard loom which was used for weaving silk at Stonehouse in Lanarkshire in the 19th century. It has a Jacquard attachment which allows complex patterns to be woven. The punch cards used in the Jacquard mechanism laid the foundation for modern computer programming. You guys are so funny ... when Matt said. What's these pointy bits it doesn't make any sense. Well I was sat here in stitches. Then Andy shakes his head when he farts and says funny puns when Matt does it. Its Matts laugh that is infectious .. you start laughing when he does lol.

I used to love the famous five books. They were always finding abandoned farmhouses, discovering smugglers and "queer" sorts, and eating fantastic picnics

I have seen this location before, but the people who explored it did not go up to the top of the tower. Also that’s the first time I saw the magazine place.That was a little crazy! The whole place looks so strange, like somebody just dropped a bunch of printing presses, looms, And whatever else just to get rid of it. Y’all are so fun to watch! Take care!

That first fireplace reminds me of the one we had in our house which was built in the mid to late 50s or early 60s I think, (I was born in 67). And you were right about the word Magazine it is French (Magasin)

I just watched a documentary of the Work/Poor House on TH-cam (Absolute History) and the little rooms could a place where the poor people got sent to live there. This is including farms and stately homes where they stayed, so they don't go back to the Work/Poor House. Families got separated all the time during this period and the people went places like this, so they can earn a living as a servant. Some farms have those huge brick walls and bars on their windows to surround the people, so they can't escape. The people are children and adults, caring for manor of the home.
This farm reminds me of what the Government did to poor people, back in the day.
The Work/Poor House opened it doors in 17th Century but its only when in 1800's the Victorians mass produced the Work/Poor House and humiliated its own people. It finally closed its doors in 1930's. The Work/Poor House go along side with Asylum's, to get rid of the poor. Pretty disgusting, I know.

Wondered if at one time it was a hippie community, where they worked on their looms making woollen stuff and working on their vegetable garden selling fruit, and veg.! The courtyards would be great for certain fruit. And the wallpaper suggests the late 60's early 70's. When the hippies were at their highest. Just a thought.!🤔 xx
