So inspirational. Thank you for providing description of effects, so even if I don't have the same instrument I may try to build something similar following your ideas.
I purchased the YC for church playing, and downloaded your first set of patches. Love the Journey Piano as well as many others. I will be downloading these as well. Thank you for your work.
Fantastic sounds and just at the right time for me. I’ve just bought myself the YC88 and loving it so far (1 week)! I’ve come from the MODX8 which is also a great board but I love the reactivity of the YC keybed and the one to one controls. The MODX makes a great midi controller but each patch takes an age to set up with a fair bit of head scratching. The YC just gets on with it with no fuss and the full seamless switching is awesome. Love your playing and all of the patches. You’ve got a like and subscription from me!
Great sharing! I am a newbie keybaord player. Would you mind sharing the processing of sound design and the subsequent tuning of all those parameters on the YC series? I really wonder how various kinds of sound were created.
Hi - thanks for your comments! I always feel it's a bit of a cheat programming this kind of keyboard - it's not really "proper" sound design as such because I'm not in there changing oscillators or messing with filter envelopes and cross modulation or anything. All I'm doing is taking the basic sound and stacking the various (very good) effects on top. If you've got a YC, you can see how I've put the sounds together; the notes that I made for the download pack describe the best order in which to apply the various effects units. What I've done when storing the sounds for the download pack is to get the final sound I'm after, with all effects turned on and then save the basic sound with all the effects turned off, but ready to go at the flick of a switch. Really, all I do is mess around with the various effects sections until I get a sound I like. I just follow the tried and trusted method of applying the effects in what is the generally-accepted standard chain: modulation effects (chorus, panning, tremelo, flanging, phasing, etc) and distortion/overdrive up front, followed by delay then reverb (though there are some exceptions to this). I quite often go back to it and tweak it further in a later session. The overall menu structure of the YC is fairly straightforward - there's not a lot of deep menu diving. Probably the "cleverest" bit of programming I did (especially in this expanded sound set) was to assign both foot controller inputs to the various effects so you can play "hands free". But I think it's a bit overkill to call me a sound designer! :-) To give you an idea of how I programmed a few of the sounds: Vollenweider: I wanted a brighter sound, so I opened the filter, and then assigned the filter control to Foot Controller 1. On Effect 1 I added Damper Resonance, so that the sound rings out more when the damper pedal is pressed. On Effect 2, I added a chorus, just for a little extra thickness. I've brightened the sound even further using the Harmonic Exciter - it's just a matter of twiddling the knobs until you get a sound you like. I've then put a string pad on sound 2, and set Foot Controller 2 to control the filter cutoff of the pad. DX Flute: Effect 1 adds chorus - Effect 2 adds delay - Switch on Sound B for Harp transient - Effect Section adds additional reverb DX Guitar: Effect 1 adds chorus - Effect 2 adds damper reverb - Switch on Sound B for Pad - Effect Section adds tempo delay - Speaker/Amp Section adds doubling - Foot Controller 1 controls tone of Guitar Hope this gives you a little insight into how I make the sounds - it's really just a matter of trial and error and messing about! 🙂
@@billyruss I did not expect that I could get such a quality and detailed reply from you!! Thank you! I owned a YC88 for a few weeks but have no time and idea of experimenting the blending and mixing of sound. Your sharing showed at least a step-by-step guide of how to "tweak" the sound. I could not thank you more.🙏
Hi. Assuming you are able to download the file, you will need to transfer it to a USB stick which has been formatted for use in the YC. The full instructions are on my original video, but I've copied them below: The entire set may be downloaded from the link below; it's organized into seven Live Pages of eight sounds each, so you can pick and choose individual patches if you want. www.dropbox.com/s/0dd497e52nmfq5w/Yamaha%20YC61%20Custom%20Patches.zip?dl=0 You don't need to have dropbox installed in order to download it - just go to the link, and wait for the Download button to appear at the top right of the screen (be patient - this can take a few seconds). Once it has appeared, click the button (you may have to press Enter), and select Direct Download to save it to the location of your choice. The sounds are arranged by Live Set Page File (eight sounds in each one), so it's possibly easiest just to copy one of the Page Files into a blank Page on the YC (e.g. 20) and move them around after. However, if you want to do just one sound: 1. Choose a blank patch on the YC. 2. Press the Menu button and select File (use the wheel to the left of the screen to scroll through items and press it to select). 3. Select Live Set Page File and then Load. 4. Choose one of the YC LsPage files and press Enter again. 5. Select Load Live Set Sound. A list of the eight files in that sound page will be displayed. 6. Select the sound you want to copy and press Enter. 7. Select the option to Load to Sound 20-1 (or whatever) and press Enter. The individual sound will now be loaded into the blank location you chose on the YC. Hope this helps; there's more info on page 25 of the user guide: jp.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/4/1311174/yc61_en_om_a0.pdf
Por isso é difícil ter as coisas aqui, tem que se virar nos 30.....instrumentos paralelos que tem uma boa sonoridade....é assim que nos viramos por aqui.....😢

It is great to have all the sounds in one place, but you can me imaginitive with lots of different instruments too :-)
Hi Melvin - not sure I will be of much help as I'm not really an expert on these keyboards - I just like messing around with the sounds! But fire away 🙂
@@billyruss I would like for you to make me sounds and I will compensate you. I have already downloaded the 75 that you created, and I love them. Gave me hope for the board. I would like some sounds catered toward my style of playing if that is possible. Are you on messenger or IG, so that we can chat more in depth?
@@melvinjohnson2443 Hi again! I'm flattered that you should make such an offer but really, these sounds are about the limit of my exploration into what the board can do - it takes me an age of fiddling around with the various settings until I come up with something that I like (a couple of months for the 20 or so new patches here!). There are some great sounds in the board, it's just a matter of applying the various effects until you get something that sounds good. There's no real sound design as there's no real synth editing, it is just piling the various effects on! 🙂
