This is a very handy video, I've just serviced my projector dust clean and cleaned the lcd, prism's and polarised glass, all went back together fine and it's never looked so sharp, i have seen some reviews on my projector where people are complaining of burn marks appearing on the screen just like yours after only a few hours use and always wondered why that was i originally thought it might be an lcd issue but after seeing this video i now know it's the polarization glass film being burnt, thanks for the heads up on orientation, at least i can rest easy now that i know how to solve this issue if it arises although my particular projector has had a design change which they incorporated a 2nd blower fan which blows air right through the lcd, prism and polarization glass keeping it cooler luckily mine has the 2nd fan its been on all day for months and not seen that burning issue yet, this is why it's crucial to keep fans, vents, filters clear on projectors to stop them overheating, i would rather do time consuming dust cleaning than have that peace get all burnt up looks like a nightmare taking that film off without cracking the glass.
I just ordered the Polarized film my spot is small compared to what you had on your screen but I too do not want to keep buying projectors. Thank you sir you did a great job showing us your how to do and what to look for on rotating the film. Much Appreciated.
I have fixed my projector as well but instead of using the old glass with burnt film I just go straight to a glass shop nearby my town then just bought a new glass with the same measurements as the old one and put a new film on it. It now works with no burnt spot 👌
It's not the film that burned, it is the adhesive! Even if you clean of the adhesive from the glass and that film, you can stand it back in the projector! One layer is sufficient! But before removing the film stick on a marker that points out the top, from both the film and the glass! With linear polarized film it is essential!!!
Thank you so much for this repair vid how does the picture compare to the original performance of the projector and i believe this is the happrun h1 right ?
Correct. Happrun H1. I took the polarizing film off both sides of the glass and only installed it back on one side. You can tell the picture is a bit more washed out - but it's hardly noticeable. If you install the polarizing film back on both sides of the glass and notice the picture looks darker than before, you can take one side off and it'll "lighten up". It's actually a brighter for daytime viewing now which I do like.
@@niz76 interesting observation i have the happrun h1 alongside other led projectors and i am just doing research for when this happens as i am noticing some slight yellowing in one spot on the happrun on a white background. so having the polarizing film on both sides makes the image darker compared to the original performance of the projector so one side is the way to go it seems that long exposure to heat is the problem here i have seen people on youtube put better and quieter fans like noctua in led projectors for better cooling so maybe this helps with the polarizing film issue too in addition to the reduced noise level
@@simpletools6805 Yes heat is absolutely the issue here. I've had to remind my family to turn the projector off when they're not watching TV for a while. Leaving it on all day burns the film.
You forgot to rotate the sheet 90 degrees, it's polarizing, if misaligned 90 degrees it will block ALL light from getting through. And you could have cleared the glue off with WD40, basically mineral spirits.
is it happening because of overheat? I am thinking of adding an extra fan with little filter that will push air through the same vent. controlled externally by Arudino. what do you think guys?
@@Remedy718 Honestly don't know. I can say that when I went from two layers to only one, the picture was brighter and almost "washed out" so Id guess it'll prob look even more so with no film.
@niz76 He's mad because it definitely DOES work! The rude comment was obviously from a projector seller that won't sell as many projectors once everyone figures out this simple fix. Thanks for the information. Now I don't have to keep buying projectors over and over. 😅👍

Same here. Been buying one every 2+ years because how much I use the projector. I'll try this from now on.

Thank you, very useful to know about the polarizing paper orientation! Hope I can fix mine too
Hope u get it fixed. U can do it!
So glad u didnt give up!! Your our projector Rock Star
Im glad u messed up and shared what happened. But also thank you for taking one for the team. Lol
Thanks…I have like 5 of these same problem! What a waste. Glad I saved them now I’ll try to do all 5.
This is gold. I'll try it! Thanks a lot.
You inspired me. I hope I can rectify my 2 projectors with black spot. TQ

That would totally work. I believe you can also purchase the polarized sheets without adhesive. Worth a look...

The link for these polarized film not working
Thanks for sharing! About to do mine!
So to clarify did u use that new film on bith sides or just one?
this is $15 ( K&F Concept Linear Polarizing Film A4 Polarized) a sheet but when done it works better than new and will not go bad again .
Hi can i use one way window reflective film to replace

Yes. More airflow should prevent it.
thanks for the video is that beamer the haprun h1 ?
Nice. Can i just the polarized film in the slot without the glass?
Im guessing it would just melt
@@niz76what if the glass doesn’t have any film, would you be able to see the images on the projector still?

Yoo what if the lens is a little melted
What part of the projector is that piece that’s burnt called?
Lens. The film that's on it is polarized film sheet. I linked to what I used in description.
how to find perfect angle please ?..i just got one with wrong angle from ali so now i have two pieces would that do ?
Your question isn't very clear, but if you're referring to the polarizing film being wrong- just rotate it 90 degrees.
I am sorry.. I buy small polarized glass for projector, old one get yelowish color.. When i install it projecting screen shows completely wrong colors
My problem now is i can seem to open the projector 😢
Nice idea for a DIY. ❤
How much you bought the projector for
What's the model
@@averagestudent4358 Happrun H1. About $70 on Amazon nowadays...
