Kingy does not see the slippery slope. Milking free kicks in general used to be hated. Now i see at least 5 times a game, every game, some dropping your knees or lifting your arm to get one. It start with poppy and joel and then spread to the dogs. Now every teams has one or two players... some teams are even coached.
@JaydenLoader-lz8jblol this is the dumbest take. We were only poor in the finals because we were destroyed by injuries. Fyfe was limping and McPharlin didn’t play. Go away.
Was at the game yesterday and in the southern stand punt road end. Saw the 2 last quarter Ginnivan high tackles. First one- poor tackle, high contact and should have gotten the free. Second one- high contact but has bent the knees to draw that high contact. And raised the arm to lift the contact even higher- ump should call play on or ping him for prior opportunity . But he was stiff not to get that free From a cats fan that wants the umpires to get it right
Agreed 100%. As a Collingwood supporter, I didn't like him doing it when he was here, and I'm now glad he's Hawthorns problem. If he doesn't man up and play propper hard footy, instead of trying to con free kicks out of the umpires, he'll be playing suburban footy in 3 years. Cheers!
Ginnivan needs to change his style. There is an art to it and overt actions looks like he creates it, you can also see he tries to lock in the opposition arm to make it high. If you make it happen it should not be paid, you created the incident.
When someone is picking up the ball from the ground you can't tackle them high - these are the free kicks Ginnivan should be getting. The onus is on the defender to be more careful. Bruest gets them all the time, like every other player, especially small forwards.
Tex’s back is shot at the moment, but also do not underestimate just now much the recent death of his father in law, who he was very close to, in the last fortnight has had an effect on him.
Selwood would bend knees and lift arm to break the tackle and most of the time would do so and continue to play, ginni just plays for the whistle every time with no intention of actually doing anything with the ball.
King may be right about Port taking liberties, BUT if they had kicked to AFL standard (based on expected goals), they would have won. Had Melbourne kicked to AFL standard (they kicked well above), Port would have won.
@@trikkimick the expected score metric is based on conversion of shots from where they are taken. Nothing else matters. It means port created the better chances, but were unable to finish them. So all the gambling ahead of the ball worked, they just couldn't finish off the final piece.
yes, but 2 away wins, + against two top 8 contending teams, is a great result and start to the season. Clearly the saints can play, with King and Henry they would have beaten the bombers. Crows will bounce back and be hard to beat in Adelaide, so that too stands as a great win. Hawks are the hawks and clearly rebuilding, but they're a long term rival and in those conditions, that too stands as a great win. Don't forget in 2022 they beat us on Easter Monday, so we'll gladly take the win. If you actually watch Geelong you'd see they're playing great footy atm, with quality youngsters coming through.
Exactly. How about planting your feet and pushing through the tackle to get your hands free to release the footy. He has other options and if you were a free teammate youd be disappointed he does it every time. Costs the team.
Sorry 00tommy000 ..i dislike both Collingwood and hawthorn roughly equally ...and have watched Ginnivan with interest after his ill advised internet contribution .....but to say he is NOT umpired differently at this point is laughable...what will it take ?? Melbourne were got a get out of jail card from Port. And Hinkley got a get out of jail card by receiving an extension on his contract. Port will battle to make the 8 if they can't do the basics right
@@AJHornet1 100% agree regarding Port. Too many players lacking the urgency that Melbourne showed. Same old same old with Hinkley and he will run willing players into the ground again. And by the sharp end of the season they will have nothing left in the tank.

A game is 4 quarters, not 2. The misses pretty much evened out by the end and you could argue the Bombers could have flogged the Saints in the 4th yet had to settle for a last minute finish which looked inevitable the entire time. Also missing goals is not a matter of "luck" it is a skill error. Curnow kicks goals not because of luck, he kicks them because he's more skilful. Saints have no depth, they lack a spread of skilful goal kickers and were stretched by the Bomber defence. Cope harder.
Ginnivan plays to milk free kicks as the major asset in his arsenal, and SHOULD be umpired differently accordingly. Is this AFL football or a movie stunt competition?!
You have no Geelong and Freo at 4th 🤦♂️ you have got to be kidding me, they haven't beaten any good sides yet 😆 once a 🤡 always a 🤡 ay kingy! And Gerard as a fellow cats man i really thought you were better than that, not to have them in either of your 4 is hilarious 😅 Up the mighty catters! 💪💙🤍🐈
Couldn’t disagree with Kingy more. The rule is there to protect the head, if you abuse the rule you play for the penalty I actually believed there should be fines. That was the tackler and the person being tackled are incentivised to execute the tackle as safe as possible. Let’s get head high out of the the game. At the moment we have players like this actively trying get their head contacted. It’s disgusting

Kevin Bartlett started milking free kicks back in the late 1960's. Its nothing new. They changed a rule to stop him.
richmond got none cos lord knows it doesn’t work…

Caroline Wilson ? Kane Crones ? Easy solution. Stop watching this crap. Its all about headlines and not the game. Dont get sucked in.
Wow, can’t believe Fremantle were lucky enough to get a 10 second segment.
Who?
Haha and why would they, haven't even beaten a top side yet and kicked 9 goals for the whole game 🤣
They're, without question, the worst undefeated team remaining and possibly the worst 3-0 in AFL history lol. But sure be annoyed

Exactly. You know as soon as the umps start giving him frees he will go back to his old standards of dropping the knees and raising the shoulder.

Not sure how Sydney weren't mentioned in the long premiership window, they had a couple of down years but are always in the mix since early 2000's

If Peter Wright does that action, he knocks Melican out and gets 6 weeks. Baker lucky he’s a little fella.
Replace Peter Wright with Braydon Preuss
