You're not picky at all! I saw pics of this doll when she was being reborn. She looked amazing! That hair is awesome. I remember the original "mom" worried about not being able to put headbands on the doll. I was like, Yeah something tells me they're not gonna jive 😄. Plus, if you sold stock to get this reborn you have every right to be picky. The trick is you have to be picky before the purchase. That is hard because we get caught up in the emotions of purchasing a doll and finding the "right one". Everyone has experienced what you're going through, especially in the beginning. Always ask for additional pictures in daylight, different settings. Also follow your gut. If you see something you don't like in pics you'll like it even less in person. With that said, she's a beautiful baby. I totally get it though.
Yep you're totally right! My mistake was not asking for better photos. I just wanted her so badly that I put all my faith in everything turning out perfectly. I definitely learned a lesson with this one. But that's okay, things happen! On to bigger and better box openings! Tehe 😄
I wouldn't be happy with that. I know nothing about any of this, I don't even know how I got on this video. But honestly, she looks spray painted. Like when you paint on something that repels the paint. It'll probably flake eventually.
I would definitely NOT be happy with this at all. 15:15 - Who would say that this is not a big deal?? A baby's gentle skin is one of it's absolute key features! If there's something that has to be perfect, it's the skin! And for this price it has to be even better!!! I just recently bought a reborn on ebay for 200 and it is PERFECT. Its skin is absolutely delicate and endlessly realistic. This reborn you got there is just very red and very makeup-over-bad-skin-ish. You shouldn't keep it if you're not satisfied. In fact, this one would creep me out. Yes it is someone's work, but it's also their responsibility to do their job correctly or at least lower the price by A LOT if it looks like that. And for second hand sellers, it's their responsibility to honestly say what condition the baby is in and also lower the price if needed. I wouldn't even pay 50 dollars for this doll.
Luckily I was able to get refund! I told the seller I didn't feel comfortable trying to resell it in the condition it was in. There was just no way I would have made my money back.
It's the lighting. My baby looks pain, but when I put her into bright indirect sunlight I can see all her ceiling and the blotchiness in her skin, like a real baby
I definitely see the bumpy and cakey look on her face. I would not be happy with that either. I hope you can return her and get your money back if you don't want her.
She is cute, but I do see the issue, her face looks like when a woman wears makeup over acne. I see the imperfections. I hope you can get a full refund, you are not satisfied, so you you should be entitled to one, but if not, maybe you can sell her to someone who is ok with her, or perhaps a trade. I'm wondering if she can be stripped and repainted. I do like her rooting though. I returned a baby I purchased on ebay, because the palms of his hands were so purple, the seller said that was the way she painted him, I said I'm aware of that, but it didn't show in his pictures and I'm not happy with this, I did get a full refund. I wish you luck and let us know what happens.
Yeah, photos can be misleading. It's so hard for people to know what they're buying sometimes unless the photos are taken with perfect clarity in broad daylight. I know the photos for this doll weren't that and I made the mistake of not asking for better ones. But now I know! And I have already received offers to trade.. so I know someone else out there will love her. Thanks for watching again Pam! ❤

Her head is a little lopsided. Also she should not been wrapped in saran wrap directly against her painted head/face. It could take some of her paint off and cause shine spots. My Reborn had a diaper head and was wrapped in a fleece blanket with a bow tied around it and then wrapped in bubble wrap.
YAY you're the first one to say anything about her head being lopsided! It was pretty odd... I feel like this baby was really let down by her previous parents 😕

I'm so sorry this happened to you, you aren't being picky at all you have every right to be upset over what happened. I know reborns are textured sometimes but that is nothing like normal texturing, it was as if she was trying to make the baby less red which is really upsetting because Mabel's work is phenomenal. Also super random note, but when you showed Mabel's page, you showed the Levi and I just bought him!

That definitely does not look good..! I'm not super familiar with reborns but I'm a bjd doll hobbyist/faceup artist so I know what a good paint job is. She's cute but that cakey paint buildup doesn't look good considering realism. Maybe that's why she was so affordable...
I've been watching tons of videos on box openings. I have had a doll collection since I was a little girl, but have not purchased a reborn yet. I'm a little bit conflicted. They are so expensive and I have not really seen one that I would be happy spending that kind of money on and so... I don't think I am ready to add one to my collection just yet. Maybe some day. I have a few, displayed on my Instagram and TH-cam Channel. All of mine, I feel, have been painted very well, and a couple that are beyond expectations. You could still find one. Ask for references, if the seller/artist is legit, they will be happy to provide references that you can check.
I bought a reborn not long ago (box opening is on here) she was very red (I’m not into red ski tones) and the sellers pics didn’t look like it was red. So when I unwrapped her I was shocked. I have a feeling it was the same artist as the original one of your Bub. I paid a lot more than you did. It’s sad to the gut when they’re not what you’re expecting. Hopefully you get a good outcome.

Definitely a scam! Lots of scam sites out there. Be safe and purchase from Reborns.com or places where you know your doll is coming from an acknowledged artist.

I have this same sculpt and I thought mine was lopsided and I've tried stuffing it to fix it smh after watching this I know it's the sculpt. Like one side of her face is flat. I'm selling her because I lost the bond and can't get it back smh.
Looks like the head was warped in the oven. And the paint job... ahhh no no no... it destroyed All that baby was meant to be .. it is ok to send her back.. Do not wait to long!!
This doll is way overpriced. If you want a reborn, just go to ebay and look for secondhand ones. You can get a doll from 100 dollars that looks A LOT better than this one.

I think your right hun I would feel the same the eyebrows should be the last things you paint and they certainly don’t look real the only layer I put on top of eyebrows is the Matt varnish I would try and get my money back if I was you. And no your not being picky hun xxxxx

The lopsidedness is from the oven. Let the original artist know what the artist who color corrected it did, because obviously she had messed up and didn't say anything. So sorry ....

Does dewy skin look grey on the baby? I posted a better photo of her face on my Instagram. It's still hard to see but the extra layer of paint looks grey on top of the babies newborn red skintone and it's hard to believe the original artist would have intended for that to happen.
I'm picky too and if I paid $500 I'd be highly disappointed. She's cute but too many problems. Her lips are painted? That bothers me. She's not a woman, ya know...
I know how you feel about not liking a doll after you receive it. I've had a few I wasn't in love with. I hope you can return her. Try not to beat yourself up over it. Sometimes they grow on me and sometimes not. I'm detail oriented also. Things bug me, too.

I have six reborns and not one of them was wrapped in Saran Wrap around the head. There’s other ways to keep the hair in place.

I found this one in a facebook group. Reborns.com or Ebay are also options! Just don't purchase a doll from China on Ebay. Those are fakes!

This doll is way overpriced. If you want a reborn, just go to ebay and look for secondhand ones. You can get a doll from 100 dollars that looks A LOT better than this one.

I think your right hun I would feel the same the eyebrows should be the last things you paint and they certainly don’t look real the only layer I put on top of eyebrows is the Matt varnish I would try and get my money back if I was you. And no your not being picky hun xxxxx

Thee varnish is called dewy skin, I’m an reborn artist and I know that. It’s just the skin texture and that is a different dewy skin
Does dewy skin look grey on the baby? I posted a better photo of her face on my Instagram. It's still hard to see but the extra layer of paint looks grey on top of the babies newborn red skintone and it's hard to believe the original artist would have intended for that to happen.

I know how you feel about not liking a doll after you receive it. I've had a few I wasn't in love with. I hope you can return her. Try not to beat yourself up over it. Sometimes they grow on me and sometimes not. I'm detail oriented also. Things bug me, too.
