    You’re mixing up electrical terms once again, Francis.
    Parallel connecting batteries doesn’t give you more amperage, it gives you more capacity.
    And be very careful when doing so, make sure both packs are at the very same level of charge (voltage).
    If not, the battery pack with the higher charge/voltage will immediately start charging the one with lower charge - at full power, almost like a short circuit. That can be super dangerous.
    Serial connection is not that dangerous, still make sure they’re at the same level of charge; if not, the combined pack will act like an unbalanced single pack.
    Also - you said you could "pull more voltage" through the main port (compared to the balance port) which is wrong again. You can pull more current (amperage) but voltage is the exact same on both ports.

      Yes, thanks. mA is a unit of current, mA-h of capacity.

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. Parallel connecting does not give you more amps. It give you more watt/hours. More run-time, not more punch.

    • @sharkey9
      @sharkey9 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RCReviewChannel Yep. Primarily Amp/h though.
      Watt/h is not wrong but completely irrelevant. Because both in parallel and serial you get double Watt/h (Energy) but double Amp/h (Capacity) only in parallel.
      I don't wanna sound rude but on a topic that is safety relevant you should be super careful with mixing up electrical terms.

      It's my understanding that the batteries will share the Amp load? Can someone clarify? I vaped with a mechanical mod for a very long time and running a series I had to half the amperage being pulled to keep it safe so now I'm slightly confused as I'm typing this

    Good video Francis! One thing - You can actually connect lipos of different MAH in parallel although not advisable. This works because it's based on voltage not amp hour. So if the lipos are connected as you're draining them they'll both be at the same voltage. You can test it on a parallel board with your charger.

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you for that!

    • @sharkey9
      @sharkey9 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep that works but as you said, not advisable. Once the smaller battery drops in voltage, the bigger pack will "charge" the smaller one constantly. Works but your smaller pack will lose a lot of it's lifespan.

    Good video! :)
    I don't understand the need for cutting the wires when disposing a battery. Won't it make it easier for it to short on something they touch? I guess the plug is safer, no...? If cutting is the way to go, isolating the exposed wires is a must, I believe.
    I always heard it's better to "ballance charge" your batteries (through the ballencing port). That way you make sure you keep all the cells with the same voltage. Is this also possible while charging through the main plug?

    • @georgmosberg5225
      @georgmosberg5225 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good charges will use both ways... Main plug for high current charging, Balance plug for balancing.
      Usually, when the first cell reaches Max voltage, charging is slowed down and Balancer Port ist used for charging.
      Cutting the wires is dangerous and not nessessary. If you want to be super safe, tape the plugs with insulation tape.

    Lipo and the rest of them will soon (in a few years maybe sooner), be obsolete.
    There's a newly invented battery capable of running rc things, its called 'ion ox battery' The small form size of say, the size of a regular 1000mah lipo, is capable of running forty eight hours straight non stop.
    Don't know when it'll be released.

    I'm sorry, but for the first time I completely disagree with you about charging from power connector.
    In fact only charging by balanced connector is safe, because guarantees no cell gets over voltages and tis is important for battery life e for evoiding fire/explosion problems (as I have read in many posts).
    Charging by the power connector may cause a different charging between the cells, resulting some cells getting charged before the others and after that point become overcharged, with current going through a completely charged cell.
    This happens because internally cells are connected in series and not in parallel!
    The only exception is for a completely drained battery: in that case charging for a few minutes (no more than 5) makes the battery get the minimum voltage to be able to be charged from a standard balanced LiPo charger.
    Because the relevance of this matter I think you should make a new video of "ERRATA CORRIGE" about this information.
    Your job is always really good, but no-one may be always "error free".

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You misunderstand. When we say charge from the power connector, we're still talking about balance charging. Balance charging is a must at all times.
      However, on most balance chargers, it charges through the power connector. The balance port is used at the end to balance the cells.
      On some cheaper chargers, the power plug is not connected, only the balance port. So all charging is done through the balance port.

    • @montesamapping
      @montesamapping 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RCReviewChannel in this way I agree with you, but in the video is not told clearly, or I have not understood well because of some language gap.
      Thanks for your answer.

    • @DudaZachary
      @DudaZachary 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Balance plug chargers are slow as hell, why would you want to go that route?

    • @montesamapping
      @montesamapping 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DudaZachary I only said that is not clear in the video and many people can wrongly understand that they can charge by power with any charger (Nimh for instance)... and this is dangerous...!
      Moreover in my opinion instead of buying an 80$ charger, may be better buying 2 x 20$ simpler chargers and 2 x 20$ more batteries, this gives you much more chances of managing battery power when your are outdoor (more autonomy, more car driving at the same moment).

    Lithium-polymer batteries are considered to be non-hazardous waste you can just throw them right in the garbage. You do have to reduce them to zero volts first to avoid a fire hazard. Discharge them as far as you can, and then just drop them in a bucket of salt water for a couple days and they will be at zero volts. You can then just throw them out 😁

    • @billderas3420
      @billderas3420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I typically use a half-filled plastic bucket (from Home Depot) and a half cup of table salt to discharge my unwanted lipos. Some manufacturers have suggested that lipo packs need to be in the salt water solution for up to two weeks. I still check the lipo pack for battery voltage before discarding such in the garbage.
