I am blessed to have a home filled with vintage items, that once belonged to my mother. Since I lost her at the beginning of the pandemic all these items are close to my heart. Looking at them brings back happy memories of my childhood. Eating holiday meals at the table that now my family and I gather around for our daily meals. Storing my Christmas dishes in my mother’s beloved server. Recalling the times we would decorate it for each holiday. Sitting upon the wooden deacon’s bench admiring our Christmas tree. Hearing the tick of wooden and glass clock. Reminiscing about the sweet buzzing of radio that resembled an old fashioned phone. All these things I will cherish forever, it’s like having a part of my mother still with me.
I'm pleased to hear you took time out for yourself yesterday. Even better, that you recognize the need to step back and give yourself the permission to do so.
