I promoted my videos in google ads and initially gained thousands of subscribers. However, about a month later, I started losing subscribers, and TH-cam penalized my channel. This led to a significant drop in views as well. I think promoting my videos might not have been a good idea because the subscribers gained were likely not well-targeted or engaged. This experience has made me reconsider the effectiveness of paid promotions.
The problem I found with Gab is that the founder has been known to post quite a bit of antisemitic content, and a large percentage of white supremacists also have accounts on that platform. Once some of the people on Gab discovered that I'm Jewish, I was bombarded with hate posts.
I will agree with the Reddit one. I use it to promote primarily and its BRUTAL. Most of the communities are extremely picky and judgemental, and you’ll get downvoted to hell just for sharing your video. Meanwhile the entire sub is filled with hot garbage getting upvotes. Thanks for all this help though! Definitely going to try some of these out!

The big channels that you watch have been established a decade ago, before TH-cam changed their algorithms. Back then there were even groups within TH-cam where you could post and promote your videos. The ONLY way to increase views and subscribers is to post consistently every single day at the same time. That means you need to find a format that doesn't require any editing because that can take a lot of time. Most subjects won't work either. It has to be controversial political content, lgbt lifestyle, Mukbang, food related, Japan lifestyle, "how to" videos. Nothing else will work to the big scale you're hoping for.
