We were at Jomsom many years ago. Lovely memories of our time there and hiking through amazing landscapes. Still remember vividly landing at the airport and staring at the snow-capped mountains completely in awe. The mountains felt so close. I think those trees may be apple trees. I know when we passed through Marpha there were lots of apple trees and we bought some apple brandy.

Product are difficult to reach there and transportation cost is expensive. Mustang is expensive place thats why only foreign tourist buy stuff there but Nepali cannot afford such high prices product there and if Nepali want such product there, they buy at Beni Bazar and took there with them.

Haven't you been to upper mustang? That was a place recommend by everyone. Mustang is a also a religious destination for Hindus for muktinath temple but for tourist and tourism purpose you have to go to upper mustang to get the best views . Mustang is also known as desert of nepal
Mustang is famous for apples so all the trees are apple trees. They make wines, dried fruits, beers, savouries from apples and also they sells fruits to the cities as well. Your assumption about plant is right, that’s the potatoe plants. So, in mountain area, they grow mainly potatoes as a vegetable and store for longer time like months or years to survive in the winter season over there. You should ask famous mountain Nepali potato soup dish (rildok), which is very very delicious and light and visit Buddhist monasteries. Enjoy. 😍🇳🇵
