I haven't seen anyone point out that he says "I only like what I find for myself" and doesn't pay attention to Bomba when she dance in front of him, but goes actually searching for Misto lmao I love this
Whats so amazing is that you can see Munkustrap blocking Misto from dancing with Tugger because Misto is still an adolescent and he's making sure he's not "corruputed" by Tugger but Tugger still takes him and even Munk reaches out for Misto. Awwwww.
I like how the revival has this dynamic where Misto seems to look up to Tugger, and gives off like this healthy senior-junior relationship which makes Tugger introducing Misto later seem like a "you got this kid" kind of gesture
I love it at 3:08 "the rum tum tugger doesn't care for a cuddle" RTT: (selects Misto out the crowd) I'll have you! Like he legit stops in his tracks, fluffs his fur up "impressively" then steals Misto from behind his older brother lol xxx
I thought the exact same thing. Sam Lips is an AMAZING singer and that makes up for it, but ugghhhhh there is no flavor in this "updated" choreography.
@@itssj974 I was just so happy to see Misto dancing with RTT and being part of his fan group I can forgive the lack of thrusting 🤣 Also he's got a great physique, OMG ❤

One of the best i've seen, so cool and sure of himself, that's how tugger is supposed to be. Also did anyone notice skimbleshanks in the background fussing over how the other cats were acting because of Tugger?
I like that he went for more of a swagger instead of a straight up hip thrusting sex appeal which he might not have been able to pull off as well as this. He doesn't come up looking like a knock off of Partridge's performance
Tugger: *dancing with Demeter* Mungojerrie: ok this is my chance Tugger: *goes straight to assaulting another cat* Mungojerrie: ok uh... Misto you can have this one
Okay , can we just talk about Quaxo and Tugger's interactions for a second ? Like , seriously , look at them ! 0:39 , What good heterosexual friends ! 3:08 He's so into it ! Alright , now that the important stuff is out of the way: I really like Sam Lips performance. Personally , Tyler sounded too much like a whiny teenager , and his laugh at the beginning sounded like it came from a crazy person . Sam sounded less insane , and more demanding. Which works for me. Slightly more aggressive then I was expecting , but once again , its fine .
GOD THANK YOU SOMEONE ELSE SAID IT! god when Tyler shooed the queens away I was like "seriously foot stomping and whining what are you four?" It was irritating and I don't want to sound rude because I have no skill in performing whatsoever but like you said I much prefer this more aggressive tugger
I find Sam’s version to be more aggressive and angry rather than the 1998 version who was more cocky and arrogant, relishing in the love of his fans, and only shutting Etcetera up when she was being too extra. Here he feels like an ass for telling his friends and family to move, cuz throughout the musical you can see how much he cares for them, he respects old Deuteronomy, Mistofolees and Munkustrap,
This is pretty close to the live version we saw about a month ago. I like some of the additions, with the dance at 2:03 being the best part. I don't like that Bombalurina's part is truncated, and I also don't like that the Tugger basically just keeps going back and forth on the stage for no apparent reason.
i watched the bootleg of the broadway revival with a different tugger (tyler) and i can't choose which one i like more than the other! both have different strong points, great job on this one! and as always i love the 0:38 and 3:10 moments. the new choreogoraphy has some rough spots IMHO (hard to beat the original) but ill give them some points for that ;) what mistoffelees is this? is it ricky? im used to ricky looking a bit lankier/taller (as per how he looked in his costume in the bootleg i watched) but it might be the different angle throwing me off.
4mos late but I am pretty certain that Mistoffelees is Zachary Downer here. Ricky's a bit bouncier with his Misto, but Zachary did a great job stepping into the role after Ricky left too!
I though I wouldn't like any Tugger other than John Partridge because I saw some of the 2016 revival and I did NOT like Tyler as Tugger (granted, Tyler is a very good actor and a great dude in general) because he didn't seem like the originals did. John's Tugger was sultry and had more of the sex appeal that the casting called for (yes, the requirement was that he "must have a wild sex appeal") and just a more gruff rock voice in general. Tyler's tugger was decent (And **cough cough** slightly gayer) but he just seemed too much like a rowdy teenager than Tugger (Mostly in the way he sang, particularly with the CONSTANT harsh vowels). THIS DUDE'S Tugger, however is a good medium. He has the energy, but he does sound softer and more sultry like he's meant. You can tell by the way Tyler said "Move" at the end, sounding like a pouty teenager who's not getting all the attention, and this one's "Hey, Move! I need Space!" sounds more assertive, like he wants the attention and he KNOWS he's gonna be getting it. All in all, John will forever have a special place in my heart as Tugger since he was my first Tugger, but this actor has done a fantastic job portraying the character in a way that's still beautifully similar to the 90's Tugger (Jon played Tugger for a good portion of the 90's including the 1998 film). Keep it up my guy. would love to see the footage for "Magical Mr Mistoffelees" from this show if there is any!
Not gonna lie, your description of Tyler's Tugger is exactly the reason why I love his Tugger a lot. I mean no doubt John will forever be _the_ Rum Tum Tugger, but I have seen so many performances after his that were just soo boring and were either having too much diva attitude, are honestly even gayer than Tyler's, lacked any sex appeal and enthusiasm, and/or were Rapper Tugger. Watching Sam and Tyler's performance was honestly a breath of fresh air and I'll explain why. I watched the new choreography with Sam's portrayal first, and honestly he was just an amazing RTT. He just had that vibe about him being a bad boy that was akin to John's. The cool "I don't give a shit" sex appeal that makes it understandable why females would desire him. Not to mention he also had that deeper smooth voice that contrasts a lot of RTTs. But if I had to say a problem I had with his performance, it's actually because of the choreography of the Broadway show just does not match well with the performance he gives. If he had portrayed the Tugger with the original choreo, then Sam would be way higher on my favorite RTT list. But since that not the case, him dancing will sometimes look out of place because it feels like his character would not do that. As for Tyler's, I absolutely love his performance because the choreo he was given completely made sense with the character he portrayed. And the way he did portray it was so exhiliratingly enthusiastic that you just immediately fall in love with his excitement alone for being mischief and a goof. The reason why I love Tyler's RTT is that he just made it his own. He knows he could not be John so he did what he could and just gave a Tugger that has his own identity that still has the basics laid out but just also adds a lot more excitement and childlike sense of fun because RTT is living the best life. And yeah, Tyler is an excellent dancer and that in his performance, he's always moving in dance and has so much swagger that he rarely just walks around unlike a lot of RTTs. He has a different kind of sex appeal because of that and it makes it understandable to me why he is attractive to the female cats. Sam does have that sex appeal that is like John's, but the choreo just did not fit his cool bad boy performance when it's more for active fun Tugger. But either way, he still did amazing and it and brought back a version of RTT that I thought I would never see again, and that's straight (and very slightly gay) sexy Tugger. He's definitely my 3rd favorite performance after John and Tyler.
@@MeepMayCry definitely agree. I love Tyler’s singing but I really hate his whiny moments, everything else is an A+ in my book. And Sam is great, but I agree the choreo fell flat for me, it didn’t have enough swagger in it that Tyler gave.
