The replacements are pretty good though, they match the mood of the movie pretty well, though originals are a bit less repetitive, sometimes take a step back in just the right moments, and the animation and editing just matches them better.

Yes, the tune is very 80's. This was the original Dominion Tank Police, conceived in the 80's, then down the line followed by another anime New Dominion Tank Police in the 90's which sadly didn't star these two cat sisters. Both series were fun though. Both series and the sisters.
@@Bangcat Well it was a joke. But every good joke is only part joke, you know? Definitely shares several musical ideas with that one, that they might be classified as partial sound-alikes.
What is it about anime cat girls that makes them so hot? I remember buying the vhs tape of this anime just for that scene alone. This was before the internet and anime was hard to find. Still one of my favorite scenes to this day.
Now that you say it, something felt missing. The version I ripped myself on my minidisc player back then actually is superior to everything there is on the internet.
Dominion Tank Police, first came across this on the second installment of the Sci-Fi channels Saturday Anime Block (Vampire D the week before was the first, also great). Totally captured my attention (and I was like 14 at the time so there was A LOT going on) and loved it and its sequel series New Dominion Tank Police to death. The American adaptation has a different song and vibe for this sequence. It's more sublime and sexual in the original Japanese music while the American version is more up-tempo and animalistic. It makes sense to my ears but maybe not to yours. The Japanese one is like teasing and flirting. The American one is like a strip club. For your next lesson, look up "No sex in the champagne room."
They all but butchered the American version. Some of the voice acting was decent, but the song they used to replace "Hey Boy..." Someone needed to be hit with one of Buaku's Bio-Balls for that shit...
The revalation of them wearing the flesh colored suit is hilarious. These ladies are experts and I applaud their technique.
Turning a suspenseful police stand-off into a catgirl striptease. Oh, those wacky Japanese.
But even then, using that as a distraction is quite the power move.
